This is a Canadian model, but in America the Mercury Colony Park wagon had fake wood siding, like the Ford Country Squire. I'm assuming that to be the case in Canada too.
The Birotor is semi-interesting...they didn't do so well, and Citroen tried to buy them all up and destroy them. But several slipped through the cracks.
It was World Driving Champion Jim Clark (IMO one of the best ever) who owned a 7litre (428) version of the Galaxie 500, a real handful on the narrow roads of Scotland and the Continent and he (along with American Dan Gurney) occasionally raced a 427 Galaxie coupe in sedan races (equivalent to today's BTCC) against Jags, Mini Coopers and the like. Clark's Lotus was powered by the Cosworth-Ford DFV engine.
...in the parking lot of an Auto Zone a couple of weeks ago. A kid was showing it to his buddy. I haven't seen a Conquest before in 15 years. Does anybody remember the Mitsubishi Sigma?
That my friend, was the car that gave me "religion." When I was 17 or so, the girl up the street from me, who was 3 years older than I, had a boyfriend who had one of these in Italian Racing red. Not only that, but it had no muffler.
One time I had the opportunity to drive it, and I've been a foreign car nut ever since. Even with only a tiny 1300 cc engine, it had DOHC and to a young kid like me, who had never heard a car rev like this—it was like meeting God face-to-face. Oh what a "RUSH" I had. Ever since that day, Detroit iron never had any appeal, and I blame it fully on that Alfa.
BTW, this Alfa owner eventually traded it for a brand new British Racing Green 289 Cobra, which had just been introduced. Riding in that was my second "RUSH."
I saw some pics of the Guilia and it looks similar to it as well. Can't mistake the grill, knew it was an Alfa immediately, just wasn't sure of the make.

There must be something odd about that '67 Galaxie, otherwise it's too easy to be in here.

When I was little, I loathed them...ugly slug. Then I couldn't stop looking at them, but I still hated them. Now I think they are very cool.
