    You're close, it's the Valiant's sister, a 1961 Dodge Lancer.

I am amazed how similar the body shape of the Ferrari is to my old '67 BMW 2000CS, from that rear view... The Ferrari is a little more swept back in the rear.. but, even the tail-lights are similar..

Not making any other comparisons, obviously...

Yep, I hadn't really thought about it but there are strong simlarities in the roofline and tail
between the GTC and the 2000CS, none at all in the front tho.

Yep, a 164 LS, not sure if it was a '94 or '95. Probably the first Alfa I've seen on the road. Extremely out of place in this Chrysler (old AMC) town. Looked well maintained and didn't look outdated.

is it a Peugeot 404 1966?, notice it doesn't have any exterior rear view mirrors

There is a little BHPH lot about a mile from my house that has an Alfa 164 sitting around the corner.. been there at least 3 years that I can remember.. When you are driving by, it looks like it might be in decent shape, but I got out and looked at it once... I think it is dead, and naturally, it looks worse as time passes..

The first time I saw one, I thought it was the best looking 4-door made, other than a Jag XJ...

Right on the nose Boomchek, I dunno why the outside mirror is missing.

A nit to pick - I think the Giulietta Spider a few pages back was actually a Giulia Spider. The Giulietta was late 50s / early 60s, had a slightly shorter wheelbase, a smooth hood, and a 1300 CC engine. The Giulia was slightly later - up to '65 - and had a longer wheelbase with more passenger room, the hood vent shown in the pic, and a 1600CC engine. I'd love a Giulia Veloce, possibly retrofitted with the earlier hood for a bit smoother lines.

but here's a photo that shows some interesting historic (?) rally cars. Some are better known than others, extra points if you can I.D. the white car you can see a piece of behind the one labeled "Fiat Abarth".

The yellow and black one is a Fiat :D

124 Spider with a hardtop, all buffed out and fender flared by Abarth.

The two in the middle are Lancias - (..googling furiously...) looks like a pair of Lancia Fulvias.

The white one ... no idea.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Heh, heh, the white one's really got you stumped :D, It's also a pro-rally car,
the Alpine Renault A110, sometimes known as the "French 911" from it's rear-engined
    layout.

    Here's a better look=>image

124 Spider with a hardtop, all buffed out and fender flared by Abarth.

The Fiat-Abarth 124 Spider was the full-on pro-rally version of the 124 Spider, it was pretty successful IIRC.

The two in the middle are Lancias - (..googling furiously...) looks like a pair of Lancia Fulvias.

Lancia Fulvia HFs were also very successful at pro- rallying and one of the earlier to have fwd (along w Saab and Mini) pioneering the layout that dominated rallying until awd took over in the 80s.

The orange car on the extreme left is of course the evergreen Porsche 911 (unless it's the 912 which is doubtful since it's parked in a crowd of performance oriented rally machinery.

What did they do to that poor Aston???
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,520
it was DB Aston, but that has to be the worst wagon conversion ever. That side window is hideous.

I think the DB Bond edition (is that the 5? I get confused) is one of the best looking cars ever.

    ...it's the Aston Martin P1800ES.

It's a shooting brake of some kind, though I've no idea the actual alphanumeric designation.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
that the Aston Shooting Brake was created by David Brown himself

The picture is of a DB-5, ca. 1964-5. I like it very much, better than the GT but then I'm a sucker for a fast wagon.

There are three sports cars on the cover of this old Popular Science
published in September '51 at the time when "sports cars" were beginning
to catch the imagination of American car buyers. Can you name all three?

Red one is a Jag XK-120.

The blue one is a Muntz Jet.

The red one is indeed a Jaguar XK120.

The yellow one is a Nash Healey.

To make things more difficult you should rename the pictures before posting them. If you right click on the posted picture, and go to properties you will get the file name of the picture which usually has the vehicle make and model in it. hehe
