And next to no Japanese imports.

Only a few Eurocars as we ll and '73 would be just after their hey day in the '60s. One TR-6 and a single VW
on the left about mid picture.

Picture is too early for a Chevette. I'm thinking perhaps another Corolla, though it is hard to tell.

Could be a little Datsun 1200 too. The small Japanese cars back then all looked alike.

    1969 Pontiac.
Ah, the Walt Whitman bridge. Been there, done that during my Fort Dix days.
Note the great light system they used to control the direction of bridge traffic back in those days.

I noticed the sign for M.A.B. paints. Made me remember listening to Phillies games on WCAU 1210 in the early '70s where they were a sponsor, often promoting their line of Seashore house paint.

Big changes about to come in that 73 pic, and catastrophic depreciation for most of those cars.

Ford sedan (Galaxie I assume, less fancy grille than I expect on a LTD), front center in front of a 63 Impala, would have been brand new. At left behind a boat (water-going) I see a TR-6.

I believe this is from the second gas crisis of 1979, no idea of the location as I can't quite make out the writing on the license plates. Expands nicely.

Lonely white 75ish Corolla up by BK. Laughing at the guzzlers lined up for gas.

The Trans Am is an early one as can be seen by the rear window design. Its door hinges on the drivers side are already worn out judging from the fit we see near the rear quarter panel.

Gran Torino Sport in the foreground, get off of my lawn. Might be the one time the 429 wasn't a desirable option.

I see a mid 60s Comet or Falcon hardtop in the background left, behind the building, and a nice clamshell wagon in front of the newer Firebird.

I noticed the Chevy clamshell wagon wasn't quite as nice as it once was. LF hubcap is missing, and it looks like there is some damage to LF fender and drivers door, which is missing its top piece of faux-woodgrain railing.

The Trans Am in the picture is a 73, maybe a 74. 70-72 didn't have the bird decal on the hood and 75 had the wrap around rear window.

Three up from the Trans Am, in front of the wagon, looks like a Chevy Monza.

It'd be interesting to see the depreciation curve on mid 70s barges before and after the 79 gas crunch, I suspect many people just stopped maintaining them.

The Allante featured styling by Pinifarina (not GM Styling) which probably is why it looked so good.
As for the Northstar....the one in my Dad's Deville blew freeze plugs at 77K! I don't know how this could happen on a car that only had 77,000 mi and never went out of FL! The company that usedto build the best engines in the world was making junk. No wonder they went bust.

Furthest car away, parked under sign that says "Prescriptions" is a '58-'59 Lincoln. Right side closest to camera, the tail of a 1960 Mercury.

My first time there was probably '62. (Mom had a '62 Star Chief).

Probably went twice a year for the next 8-10 years. I definitely don't remember that parking garage, but I was a youngster.

That Chevy 'vert intrigues me. I can't see either the call-out or the crossed flags of an Impala on the side trim. If I thought they made one, I would swear it was a Bel-Air trim. But I know that's not a thing.

I'm not convinced the 1960's picture of Gatlinburg is actually Gatlinburg.
I'd love to see old street views of maps.google.com but it wasn't around
    in that era.

That hotel is too many stories from what I believe I saw on my first time
through in the late 60s. There would be mountains in the background
in most pictures taken in the core of Gatlinburg. Most of the motels
were quaint 1 or 2 levels at that time. And I mean "quaint."

I tried looking for Galinburg pictures on postcards and such, but
    nothing like this.

And I don't think Pigeon Forge had any built up high rises like
    that.

    But I've been wrong before.

    Great picture.

There was a Riverhouse in Gatlinburg, but that isn't it.

Also, appears that it burned down, about six years ago, in a forest fire.

I wasn't sure either when I posted it, hence my qualifier.

A Google search just now indicated it originally appeared on Curbside Classic 4 years ago, and they tagged it as being Reno, NV, so we can go with that. Using that, I was able to find this picture that confirms it.

    @stickguy,
    That's the spirit!

I just went through a bunch of photo albums to find a picture of my 86 GT. It has a 5.0 emblem on the front fender, so I'm going to guess that Mustang is an 85.

The caption says it's an '86 and the tailpipe suggests it's a V8. My '86 GT convertible like yors had a "5.0" emblem on the fender side and a black hood with "GT" lettering and the same "phone dial" wheels.

'86 Mustang GTs were the first MY for EFI (225 hp IIRC).
