I grew up in Springfield MA, founded(incorporated?) in 1626. Lived for about 38 years in Farmington CT, founded in 1645. I like to say their roads were designed by the Pilgrims cows.

the country lanes in the part of south Wales I grew up in were actually Drovers roads which were for farmers driving their cattle or sheep - generally towards English cities
Generally those were relatively wide and across open country.
The lanes in the valleys were, by contrast winding and narrow.
We reckoned the cows there were the ones that got away.
The towns you grew up in were older than my home town of Bridgend - or Cardiff - both of which were insignificant until the mid 1800s when Cardiff became the largest coal port in the world.
We did have a Roman Road though - and three Norman castles as the welsh were clearly difficult to control
Bond made a three-wheeler called the Bond Minicar in the fifties and they were still selling them into the early sixties.
Their original model was font wheel drive - literally - the single front wheel was driven by an engine which was mounted to turn with the single wheel below it. they could turn in their own length
This chap is kickstarting his.
By the sixties they needed a new model to compete with the Reliant Regal and they developed the 875 which had a rear engine and course RWD.
The engine was a Hillman Imp unit, so quite sophisticated compared with it's predecessor but they didn't have much success and it led to the Bond company merging with Reliant eventually - when they brought out the Bond Bug.
I'm not sure what the black car #3 in line would be. The taillights look Vauxhall-ish but I've never seen a Vauxhall coupe of that vintage. The rest seem pretty easy to ID: Renault 16, Marina, mystery car, a pair of MGB GTs, a Corona wagon, a Renault 4, and a 3rd-gen Cortina going out of frame.
I have to say I'd forgotten theToyota Corona Mk II was ever sold here as an Estate, but having posted it I managed to find a "barn-find" example online
If I'd not been able to see the nose of that car I would have thought it was a Vauxhall Victor by the roof line
Yes -the great hope for Austin exports when we were bankrupt after WW2 was never a success really.
It was a 4-cylinder and though it made all sorts of endurance records it never found success in bringing in the dollars
Here in the UK it was initially only marketed as a Drophead and I think it was launched in what turned out to be the worst winter in England for a century
They tried again with this coupe which had a wind-down rear window but it was subject to a huge tax burden and they never sold well
Nowadays - a bit liike Edsels with your car enthusiasts - they are sought after and are seen at car shows, with a thriving owners club.
This pic I think is ca.1950. The white Caddy has a one piece windshield so it may be the newest car. The blue Step-down Hudson was introduced ca. 1948. An older Hudson is behind it.
In the "Skoot" town, a block back near the store with the round Coca-Cola sign, is a Buick contemporary with the white Cadillac. Must be that time when the new postwar cars were really flooding the market, lots of later models in the pic.

I had to look it up but 1950 was the year that one piece front glass was introduced by GM (except Chevrolet & Pontiac) which would make that black Buick at least a year older than the Caddy. Yes there's lots of new iron in that pic.

FWIW, the tail lights on the green Chevy driving away indicate that it is at least a '51.

Given my father's proclivity for cars of another color e.g. Borgward, Saab, Datsun 260Z 2+2, Renault LeCar (yellow with black racing stipes. Speed holes would have completed the look), I'm surprised he didn't buy an Avanti. I probably would have, at least once I was past crawling.

One magazine at the time, can't recall which, wrote that the Avanti was "refreshingly free of ornamental excrescences", LOL. I'd have to agree with that.
It was curved side glass, long-hood/short-deck, before a whole lot of cars, too.
On this one, I detest the mirrors out on the fenders, LOL. The car looks best with no outside mirror, although I realize how inconvenient that is. I'd want the mirror on the door.
This car's bigger whitewalls slap me in the face, but I know I'm fussy.

Those whitewalls were commonplace even on sporty cars of the era bumper shapes and wheel covers were well done IMO.

Looks to be related to the Edsel!
Appears to be a ‘57 Ford retractable hardtop parked out front.

Opel Kapitan (next to VW cabriolet) I think the little fins on the Kapitan mean it's 1958/9
to the left - obscured by the lamp post - is a white (British) Ford Zephyr Mk II
I can't make out what the two-tone wagon is behind the No Entry sign
At first I thought a DKW but is it a Fiat 1100 ?

Sorry - I missed your reply correctly identifying the Reliant Scimitar - a contrast to their three wheelers
Here's another three wheeler - but not a Reliant...

Yes, it's the Bristol. It is probably the 410 but the 411 only differed in detail with the front grille so it could be one of those I suppose.
They really are exclusive cars - they hardly sold any abroad and only had one showroom but a high proportion of them survive
Yes, I started to wonder if they used Vauxhall components to build it !
this one is in Ramsbury, a small village in Wiltshire, and was apparently taken in 1971
