A Frazer Nash Mille Miglia, early '50s. Pretty advanced styling for its time.

15th and Lonsdale, North Vancouver BC, 1982. Image has an odd washed out quality but zooms well to a certain extent before becoming weird, at least a couple oddballs can be spotted here:

Also one of those locations that today is similar but pretty different at the same time.

Thanks, that helps. I was most surprised by the Lancia - always rare, suspect few were still on the road by 1990.

Behind the Capri looks like the Possum Van before it became possum-ized.

Yep, ‘72 or older if in US. My dad's retirement hobby car was a green one, AT, drank gas, and my stepmom’s ‘69 Cutlass was peppier around town. But that Indy was fun to drive.

Pic was the intro pic in a “things to watch out for when buying a classic car” article.

Germany, mid - late 80s, zooms fine - apparently the "OK" used car brand was not just a North American thing (and everything is in order):

A little BMW on the right of the picture.
A wagon, not sure what brand, under the Stop sign.
Shouldn't that sign read Halt? :o

BMW looks like a lower line E21, wagon a Ford Granada.

"Stop" in German is "Stop" :)

Yes, only the premium 3ers of that vintage received quad headlamps.

i think the Opels were too tough for most B) Car nearest the camera appears to be a Senator, blue car under the first flag appears to be an early Omega, also Rekord Kadett and Ascona in the mix I am sure. White car rear leftmost maybe an Escort.

Not a pic. When was the last time you saw one of these? I found this while looking for something else. The dealer did a dealer trade as I wanted this color and Bose. IIRC I paid around $26k for it.

Millenia's were nice. Mazda was going for it with that 34k sticker. That had to be luxury territory back then

  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,082
Same price range as the '96 ES300 I bought. I still have a C&D with a comparison test of a half dozen of those 'near luxury' sedans.

Aztec Motel, Miami Beach, early ‘60s. You just knew there would have to be a white ‘60 Ford Sunliner in the pic. B)

I think the car in front of the 60 Ford is a Simca Aronde.

I wonder how those "Miller Cycle" engines aged.
  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,585

    White 1959 Pontiac.

Behind the Poncho is what looks like a 60 Olds flat top. The convertible behind it could also be a 60 Olds, but I'm not sure.

New design downsized Grand Prix behind a Granada and next to a rolls. A fiat 124 a little ways back.

It may be just the angle, but the Rolls-Royce looks like it might be a less common "Flying Spur" type LWB car. It's a Silver Cloud III either way.

I think LA would have been fun for carspotting in maybe the 1965-85 timeframe. All of the funky/malaisey modern cars plus oddball imports plus old survivor cars.

Looks like an Omnirizon behind the 124.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,082
Is that a BMW 2002 front right?

37 Packard, probably a 120. I get the restomod vibe with those tires/wheels and exhaust too.

Yes, that Super 8 and the 120 restomod-looking car would be straight 8 - at least when new. I don't think Packard had a V8 until the updated 1955 cars.

I spoke to the wrecker driver and he didn’t know anything about the car. He was instructed to move it to the owner’s alternate location. I would guess it is used as an event rental for the wedding couple.

I found the sticker from the ES300. A big reason I got it- no sunroof.

Very similar mpg, pricing. My sister had a 97 ES and loved it. She currently has a RX 350.

What do you have against sunroofs? I thought they were standard. Both my 2000 and 2014 ES’s have them. No problems with either.

I don't know about similar pricing! $6K back then is more than $10K today; I doubt any buyers of the time thought they were all that close in pricing.

That Lexus price is basically 2x that of a Camry.

With a sunroof I don’t fit, I need LOTS of headroom.

A Lexus service writer was surprised mine didn’t have one, he hadn’t seen one.

??? They’re almost identical in price.

And maybe 2x the price of a base LE 4 cylinder Camry, not the V6 XLE with leather. I liked that every area was just a bit better. And no body panels were shared between the two. More than a badge job.

The X1 and C43 have holes in the roof. The number of times I've opened them? Zero. On my track cars I especially hate them- as they add weight to the worst possible point. of the car.
