Easier and later, a few cars at Hawthorne and 37th in Portland, late 80s, zooms fine:

Accord Hatchback might be an '84, with that rear wiper, and slightly less rounded rear hatch corners.

I had one the same color ('82)

RWD Corolla lift back. I liked those in SR5 trim. In front of a sad looking red tempo. Subaru GL behind that.

Behind the Corolla is an 84-85 Topaz - I am leaning towards 85 at it appears to lack the small bumper guards often seen on 84s. In front of the motorcycle (Honda?) looks like an 85-88 Maxima.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,356
that does look like a square body maxima. And how could you tell that was a Topaz, and not a Tempo?

Topaz has those tall tail lights

Yep, from that angle Topaz has different taillights and Tempo has a window in the C-pillar where Topaz does not.

8 rows up center right I see a 58 Ford Sunliner - the non-retractable convertible. Lark wagon at lower R, image must be 1959 in Dearborn or similar as nothing looks newer.

From the mall pic, the exotic is the MB W116, likely a 450SEL. I also see Nissan 200SX in both notchback and hatchback form. In the lot full of Fords I also spot the oldie of the group at upper left, appears to be maybe a late 30s Mopar.

I see a big white Volvo, probably on one of the scrapped vehicles, by the lighter brick building.
Also a couple of cars closer than the building on the right, a white coupe I can't identify.

I see the Volvo P1800 next to a 105E Anglia in the back rightmost area near a shed type garage, I don't see another.

White van in the middle, with a sliding window, is a Bedford, yes.

It might be an illusion, between the wrecked Herald and Fiat looks like the rear of a Spitfire with a motorcycle grafted on to the front. Lots of ADO16 cars in the mix too.

While researching the story of the Manta cars (not Opel, the U.S. based fibreglass kit cars from CA) I stumbled upon these two photos below. They are shown on the GERMAN Wikipedia site and claim to be of a Manta Montage.
I doubt that this is true. The car depicted resembles one of many VW beetle based kit cars of that time. I can identify the rear lights as belonging to a (GERMAN Opel) Manta A from 1970ff.
Yet I do not know which company made this fibreglass car? Google search reveals false answers, as wrong as the Wikipedia article about Manta cars itself.. I do admit that A LOT of kit cars back then looked alike, resembled the popular race cars of that time.

    Anyone?
    Thanks!

Pretty close. A US based concept using the Corvair chassis but using a front mounted six cylinder engine and rear placed transmission from the Tempest.

May I repeat my request to identify this odd fiberglass kit car from the early 1970s?
I do NOT believe that it is a "Manta Cars Montage" as claimed, as the U.S. Manta did not use German "Opel Manta A" tail lights.
    Nobody knows the answer, really?
    Thanks!

In Shrewsbury - which is actually a very pretty little town generally - it isn't always this grotty - there is a replica of my dad's old Vauxhall FC 101 Victor Estate - ours was the same two tone green colour too.

  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
It isn't ours though- he bought it in 1965 and it was still running locally in 1984 which was quite good for a Vauxhall in Wales... (all that road salt)

In London that white car in the foreground is the Vanden Plas version of the Austin Allegro which was known as the Vanden Plas 1500.
