Yup, the Matra-Simca Murena is not to be confused with an earlier Murena from a different outfit>

Some wise man once said it takes two people to design a car. One to start drawing it, and another standing behind him with a baseball bat to tell him when to stop.
58 chevy (impala?), definitely a "one-year only" design for Chevy with no continuity whatsoever to prior or future years. Odd duck in that way. I think it also had a one year only engine or did the 348 truck engine continue on another year or two?
1958--the year Detroit went mad.
Back in those days didn't GM do that every year?
The 348 stuck around through 1961.

Who was the owner of the '58 Impala, it wasn't Toad, he only borrowed it.

Sorry Boomchek, Edmunds sez that's a '96, the Dakota was redesigned for '97). B Rover's white convertible is probably around that time as well. I'm only slighly familiar with the Shelby variant (ca. 91) shown in #9080.

Not really a mystery pic but a mystery engine.
I think it'd be cool if someone could fit that V10 into a Plymouth Prowler.

We tend to refer to internal displacement, and often disregard the external size and weight of a powertrain, which are really what matters.
Here are Ford's 4.9l OHV engine and 4.6l DOHC engine next to each other, guess which is bigger?
I will let a few more people guess on the mystery engine before I post the article I saw it on.
4 times as many valves? Have they started making 64-valve V-8's now?
Twice as many valves...
They do make a fair amount of Five valve V8s though. Ford made a Five valve V8 back in the mid 90s for a concept hot rod SUV.
Can't remember the name of it though.

From the article...
Just thought I'd share some before and after pictures of my Ford GAA tank engine. All aluminum 1100 cubic inch V8 used in WWII Sherman Tanks. These were gas burners rated at 500 HP and 1050 Ft. Lbs. of torque for military service, but are capable of much much more using mostly stock parts.
Gallows humor, to say the least. For those too young to know, "Ronson" was a popular cigarette lighter that would burst into flame at the flick of a finger.
