Those were also sold in Brazil. One of my neighbors had a convertible, it was pretty nice actually.

When it comes to small weird cars, it's like trying to throw a lamb chop past a wolf around here....

It's not an XR3 or a Sierra RS, it's an '89 Escort RS1600 , a genuine hot hatch by all accounts, Ford always keeps the best stuff in Europe.

There's also a late 90s Euro Accord parked behind the Escort.

Alfa and a Nissan had a baby? And boy was it ugly
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
I can't figure the "Hybrid" out. I'm guessing that it's a non Euro market Alfa, possibly for South American/South African market?

It has an Alfa grille, and it HAS to be from the 80s.

The body looks remarkably similar to the Opel Kadetts of that era, but it's not an Opel. I don't know.

You've hit it Fin, it's an Alfa Romeo A.R.N.A., essentially a Nissan Cherry with an Alfasud drivetrain. They were made at Alfa's plant in Naples under an agreement with Nissan in the mid 80s.

    Buyers stayed away in droves.

Cimmaron by Cadillac or Cavalier by Chevrolet. Early 80s, J body as they were called iirc.

Dodge Viper Competition Coupe. Regular Vipers are convertibles.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
It even has the plastic door guard. For some unfathomable reason, it was trendy for about a decade beginning in the late 1980s to leave the door guards installed on GM cars.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,528
Yep a Cadavalier (although I suppose they were less awful relative to the competition back in the day) ca. 1985-87
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Close but not quite bumpy. It has a specific name/model designation.

    Hint: Only made in 1998.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,403
It's a Shelby, as in Carroll.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Nope, though certainly in the Shelby spirit. It's definitely a Viper of some sort, and a production car.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
    Yeah, it's an '84 Cavalier..by Chevy, natch.

Sorry - been away from the computer for days .... I actually thought about buying an A-R Arna once, as I thought it might be a way of getting an Alfa engine and transmission in a body that wouldn't rust apart in a few months - sadly, the fact they were thrown together in Napoli meant they fell apart just as quickly as the Alfasud - which was a great car to drive, but a horror to own...
I chickened out and bought something else (luckily).

I thought Shelby was involved with Viper for awhile. Is it the GT2 model?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,528
    Ford Prefect 100E?
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Okay, I'll give it to you...GT2 was really the REAL race car's name, and this one is a GTS-R "commemorative", which is a replica of the race car, with special upholstery, wing, and accessories, plaques, etc. They made 100 of them and boosted HP 10 horses. But it's not really a race car the way it sits.

    Falcon by Ford.
It's not a 1965 because they still had round taillights, so I'll guess 1966.

68 or 69 falcon, due to side marker lights
  • chuck1959chuck1959 Member Posts: 654
A Mustang? How could this be mistaken for a Mustang?

It's a 1969 Ford Falcon...note the rear square marker light used that year.

Well I did for a brief second when I saw a '69 Falcon coupe the other day after all it's a pretty rare sight compared to a Mustang. It's the same size and general shape as a notchback 'Stang and don't forget that 60s Mustangs had a lot of Falcon in their makeup.

Ok. But IMO the Mustang may have had a lot of Falcon in their make up, but certainly not enough to mistake it for a Falcon or vice versa.

It's an Audi all right but it's not a Fox (Audi 80 in Yurp), it's the Fox's little brother the Audi 50>

    image

I'm not sure about the Fiat, it could be a 600,which looked like a Cinquecento.
