Yeah.... I see E38 taillights in andy's picture...

But, I can't see a difference in the C-pillar.. His is just a weird angle... it looks distorted... like when you try to watch regular TV on a wide-screen monitor. :surprise:

The tail lights on the E32 looked like this:

    image

    The E38's are different:
    image

The E32 had a more angular design, and the trunk lid opening cutout was much higher than this black E38 in the picture, which appears to have a trunk lid opening near the bottom edges of the tailights.

The BMW website is wrong, we, the experts here are right!

    Jag-YOU-ire XJ220.

I recall they promised a V12 and got a bunch of deposits, then the production car was a turbo V6.

People tried to get their money back and Jaguar refused. It was a PR nightmare.

Then they had that XJ220-only racing series on courses that were too tight and they played bumper cars, basically.

Beautiful, but a nightmare all around for Jaguar IMO.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, Jag XJ220 ca. early 90s, Extra points if you can name the building behind it.

Sydney Opera House - notice the low point in the middle? It's right over the stage, makes changing scenery/backdrops a bear.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Even the 220-only series was a nightmare...they hired some oval trackers to race them and they smashed them to pieces.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Yep, that's what I meant, actually. :)

Oh great, so you know that whole story. Hysterical. Wish I had been there to see it.

People that only turn left should stay away from road courses. Just watch the one Road Course NASCAR does a year.

Yeah... I had second thoughts.. I keep forgetting that they restyled the rear, before they did the rest.. That windshield does look a little upright for the C2 years..

Isn't that called an "easy out" Removes broken studs?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
It's a '62 'Vette, the last of the C1 Corvettes. You can tell it's not a '61 because there is no chrome around the side cove and it's not painted a contrasting color from the body.

jbollt got it. It's a tap handle with an easy-out, used to extract the broken end of the exhaust manifold stud on my SE-R. Lesson #1- don't try to reuse the old studs. Ever.

renault Dauphine, Citroen 2CV, Rosengart, Isetta and Jean-Paul Belmondo!

    How'd I do?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,546
I believe the car behind the 2CV is a Peugeot 202, it could be prewar, they were made til '48
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Yeah, it does have that pre-war Peugeot grill. I think you're right.

Here's a Rosengart---somewhat similar--sorry, there may be an audio "pop-up" with this image.

Shifty, you're right about everything except the Rosengart which Fin correctly identified as a Pug 202.

Sorry - been away again - just a point on the Isetta in the scene from Breathless - it is actually a Velam which was a French licence-built version of the Isetta. There are numerous minor differences, but the easiest one to spot in this photo is the fact that it says Velam right across the front of the car just below the Isetta badge.
Also the Citroen 2cv must be a deluxe one of some sort because of the chrome strip on the bonnet and the surround to the grille.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Thanks for the correction on the Velam, Mag. I couldn't make out the lettering.

So a chrome strip on the hood makes the 2CV a "deluxe". Boy that's postwar austerity!

Pretty sure this is a 1954 Mercury Sun Valley. I had a '54 Monarch Sun Valley (Monarch was the Canadian version of the Mercury).
That car was so cool....mine was white with a green top...a blast to have when I was in college.
(Even Quasimoto could get lucky with that machine!)

Aussie Ford Falcon, would look good in a Mad Max film
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, it's a ca. '75 Falcon XB GT. IMO it's way better-looking. than the Torinos or Cyclones that were Ford's Muscle Cars in the USA.

1st gen Golf, but where? Was going to guess Brazil, but it's RHD, so South Africa? Then checked, and they're still making these there, selling more now then ever, 21 years after intro.

Take a perfectly good Corvette, and put the ugliest aftermarket body imaginable on it. Anyone who pays for a 1959 Impalavette should have the car, their wallet, and their license taken away as a service to mankind.

I would say covered with sugar water and place them by anthills for the ants to cover them for days at a time. Ruining two perfect good GM cars like that is awful.

Yep it's a brand new '75 VW Golf GTI, being produced in the U of SA as theVolkswagen Citi Golf R1.8.
It certainly rings a bell with this former Rabbit GTI owner. ;)

More on the Citi Golf R from South Africa.
