Habib Sitara Citycart - 2004 -to date - it's made in Pakistan.

The Ford saloon/sedan looks like an Indian Ford Fusion, but different - is this a new one ?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
2008 Ford Taurus. Take the unloved Ford 500, add a new chrome grille and a bigger V6, and hope that will save Ford's bacon.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,447
I'll give Ford credit. The Taurusized 500 looks better than I thought. The one in the pic definately has a lower stance than the 500. Did Ford drop the higher seating position feature?
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Wow! Actually, it is pretty nice! I thought for a second it was some export market car. Seem the foreign market gets nicer looking cars than us. Witness the Chinese Buick LaCrosse. Shoot, if the American LaCrosse looked that nice, who needs a Cadillac? Anyway, I hope it works out for Ford.

LOL, as if that roll bar would make that cart any safer. :D

I'm sure it's just there to hold on to.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,162
Certainly an improvement. I guess every car has to have a fender vent these days...

You mean it's NOT a new X-5? :confuse:

    You are correct, sir.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,670
If it's a look-alike, it's probably Chinese, you know, from the land of innovation and original design.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,162
Close enough - it's a "Shuanghuan CEO" - note the headlights are slightly different. They're knocking off cars like crazy, the victims don't like to make a fuss, world's biggest developing market and all.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
I found this page with quite a few knockoffs. Check it out.

    Chinese ripoffs

Ha! There's my Chin-E-class. Thanks for the link.

I'd support a massive embargo and trade war, but that's just me. They need us more than we need them.

"Made in Japan" used to be a disparaging reference too.

    Here's a nice paint job:

LOL, nice to see ya Fintail. I knew such a article would fire you up !-grin

No, just the production version. The car we knew as the MR2 Spyder was simply the MR-S in Japan.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Jeez, that Nomad looks worse than the ugly C10 that got posted over in Project Cars.

That Nomad is a model btw. (link)
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,676
    That Nomad isn't a Nomad, Pontiac's name for their H/T wagon was Safari. Here's a picture of a full sized 1956 Safari>

That must explain Safari55and57's user name. :P

From the album "A scale model of my 55 Pontiac Safari made from a shortened 55 Pontiac dealer promo and a 55 Chevrolet Nomad kit."

A Maserati, of course, but not the big Quattroporte - but it is this:

    Maserati Quattro Porte II
Introduced in the fall of 1974
Built under the cooperation of Citroen and Maserati
    With hydropneumatic suspension
2965 ccm, 190 hp V6 engine, four camshafts, three twin carburettors
    Length 5130 mm
    Weight 1600 kg
    Maximum speed 210 kmh
    Designed by Nuccio Bertone
    Manual or automatic (Borg-Warner) gearbox
The layout of the major components is identical to the Citroen SM introduced in 1972
Apparently only 13 of these Bertone designed cars were produced.

Given the content, that's probably a good thing :P
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
I don't think even 13 were made...more like 5. It's really a prototype, not a production car. A real disaster and probably a pig, given the weight vs. the horsepower.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,670
Looks like a big Fiat Strada, with MG windshield wipers.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
That's about it...a big Fiat body bolted to a Citroen SM...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,676
Well it does resemble a Fiat 130 Berlina.

    Nope, that's an original 1987 BMW 750i
(SWB, no "L"), for my money the best looking 7er ever made.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,676
The E32 ('87-'94) and E38 ('95-'01) Seven series are pretty similar, the website I took that from dates it as a 1987 photo from BMW Presseservice, they oughta know. ;)

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,670
I bet it's an error. :P The kink in the C-pillar of the E32 is much different (higher) than the E38.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 269,416
I don't know... the angle is sort of weird in andy's picture...

I found this picture of an '87, and I still can't say for sure..

    '87 750iL
