Probably one of the few cars I've ever thought "gee, I'd like to play with those doors....."

You guys are slipping, that's the second one I've posted this week that hasn't been solved in 24hrs.

In any case it's a Reliant Rebel, a little Brit from the mid-60s with a 600cc motor (you weren't far off Oregonboy), made of Fiberglass.

Looks like a Nissan grille in the front. Maybe a Sentra wagon not sold here? Early to mid 90s.

It's a Nissan wagon all right sold in Mexico as the Tsubame(?) in the 90s. If I had to guess I'd say it's based on something smaller than the Sentra.

I'm guessing Korean or Chinese, but looks like a Renault insignia on the wheel covers...I see SM7 on the front.

Not a bad looking car, in my mind
  • jbolltjbollt Member Posts: 736
I think this is in fact a Mexican Nissan, called the Tsuru
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,543
Fiat 128, I think these had a "PS" designation, or some similar car did
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,674
New GM Daewoo LX4,a rebadged Holden Caprice/Statesman.
US version is the Pontiac G8.

I am not familiar with any PS designation, perhaps you mean "SC" as in Fiat 128 Sport Coupe, which is what they called it to distinguish it from the sedan.

Nope, the L4X is this critter:
    image

The Holden Statesman/Caprice is the LWB luxury derivative of the Commodore platform which will spawn the G8.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Looks like it's the same body as the Infiniti M45, with a different front end, so it's got tyo be a JDM Nissan of some sorts. Not a Maxima though.

That's a fine looking automobile. The Statesmen should be the RWD Lucerne/Bonneville this country needs. I'd take it as it is.... :shades:

    It's a Nissan, I forget the name.

I remember someone mistook it for a new US model and thought it was a spy shot of the Infiniti M before that model arrived.

    Nissan Fuga IIRC?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
The Fuga is the JDM version of the current Infiniti M, but that's not my mystery pic.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,405
Believe the Ford is a '53, and not a '54. IIRC, the '54 had a chrome strip that went from the front fender to the rear with a little droop over the rear buldged out portion.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Our stumper is the Renault Samsung SM7, a Korean-built (authorized) clone of the JDM Nissan Teana. The Teana is the successor to the Maxima-clone Cefiro (Infiniti I30/35), and is sold as a Maxima in some countries (but not the US; our Maxima is derived from the USDM Altima).

    Some sort of Skylark... 1965?
  • jbolltjbollt Member Posts: 736
    1965 Buick Skylark, I believe.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Actually, that's a 1964 Skylark with Oldsmobile wheels.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,674
Right on the nose Lemko, I hadn't noticed the Olds wheels. Frankly I had to do some poking around the web to refresh myself on the ever so slight differences between a '64 and a '65 Skylark.

Note the absence of the Buick crest in the 65 Grille, the grille surround is missing and the Vee-shape is more prominent on the '65 as well.>

The site I got it from says it's an '88 Regal (I don't think GM was chroming the bumper anymore by the mid-90s). There is apparently a weird subculture in parts of Europe of importing unloved mid-market domestic cars and fixing them up.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
and for that we should be glad, since we get to live and buy replacement cars.

    I'll guess a 1954 Cadillac, model unknown....

edit....ok, there was a model 60 i think, but i think this is just a sedan

but i am confused by the split back window, i didn't think they were made as late as 54...
  • rik4rik4 Member Posts: 90
i think it is a 1950 sedan deville cause of the split rear windows. i think 50 was the last year for that also the round white back up lights were on the 49 and 50 in that position but the splilt rear door is really crazy hehehehe. i wonder how many trees it took out.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
50-52 is as close as we're gonna get I think. Split window all those years and without a front view, we're sunk
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,701
The wheel covers look different on this 52 model 60. Does that eliminate 1952?

Very close guess...DeSoto, yes, 1959? - no, Firesweep? No From what I have seen, the Firesweeps were only convertibles.

Edit, ok, seems from a web brochure there were in fact Firesweeps that were hard tops. This one is indicated to be a Fireflight. They made Fireflights, Firedomes and Firesweeps. This example is a beautiful 1958 Fireflight.
