That's a 3rd gen Mazda RX7 with aftermarket Enkei mags. No spoiler and single exhaust so IU'm guessing a non turbo, 1993 to 1996.

The Subie before this one looked like an Austin Marina for some reason (from the back).

3rd-gens were all twin-turbo. This one just didn't get the R package.

Love that car, especially black on black. A bargain-priced super sports car these days...$15K and scary-fast.

But I just saw one of these "in the wild" for the first time yesterday :P

All the 'verts in the US were Metros, so that's probably the Chevy.

Makes my Miata seem downright manly. :D

Death-mobile.. makes the Corvair seem like a Volvo, safety-wise...

Also... I think it is a law that you have to weigh over 350# to drive one..

    Well.. that is my experience..

Usually, it is two 350 pounders, running a rural paper route... Though, to be fair, that is usually in a hatchback, not a convertible....

Not that there is anything wrong with that..

Me, too. The only person I know who drives one is named Marty and he DOES weigh about 350. Best "marty" story is that he came to my birthday party one year with a cake, and then ate it himself--LOL!!

I think it says Sixty Special on the fin. Don't know what all the crud on the trunk lid is, though.

    Fleetwood?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
According to the caption you're all correct, it sez it's a "'58 Cadillac 60 Special Fleetwood".

I have no idea what that is, but '60s era European coupes are just the coolest...

If memory serves me, this is a early 1960's VW, a Europoe only version of the Karhman Ghia? (sp?)
  • oregonboyoregonboy Member Posts: 1,650
Yeah, that's a Ghia. I'm sure I've seen a few like that here in the Pacific NW.

Personally, I prefer the "Monsieur Mouse" style.

Had a Matchbox toy of one of those 58 Cadillacs - metallic purple and a pink roof, which is ok on a 2 inch model but was a little wild on the real thing... Makes the near contemporary Lea Francis Lynx, in purple metallic, less of an anomaly...

That loop around the front headlights looks like a Chrysler product from 1960 somewhere. Does anyone know which one? I couldn't find it in a quick search.

UK Ford Zephyr Estate, ca. 1964 maybe
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,557
Yep that's one of the classic Matchbox

    image
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Thats the one - also had a Matchbox Ford Zephyr 6 Mk 111 in Turquoise - but the saloon, not the estate. Still got them somewhere at my mother's house down in Wales....
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Ford Zephyr 6 mark III estate - this one was registered in May 1964 in London. The grille is unique to the Zephyr 6, the Zephyr 4 had a smaller grille with no bar down the middle and the Zodiac saloon had a different grille and a 'six light' body, ie there were windows in the rear pillars, but the estate was a relatively rare derivative, and all of them had rear doors from the Zodiac, which were different from the Zephyr, while the tailgate was fibre glass.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
    One of these abominations.

The Ghia carries that design element much better.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Infiniti G37, actually. The coupe gets a bigger mill than the sedan.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Background cars in that picture are (from right to left):

MB E class 1986-1990 on the road.

Toyota pick up from the 70s.

Fiat Uno, mid to late 80s.

    Seat Ibiza mid 90s.

In the very far left, it appears there's a classic Benz of some sorts, probably a 230 SE, or something like that.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,557
I never thought of the background cars. The little sliver of a car at far left is indeed an old MB, a W114/115 ca. 1970. They were made in a number of models.

It looks too big to be a Polo, so that would make it the 3-door Golf?
  • seminole_kevseminole_kev Member Posts: 1,696
VW has got to be either a Lupo or Polo. I've not been as up to speed on the European small car market as I have been in the past.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Actually it's smaller (and cheaper) than a Polo and I don't think the Lupo is sold anymore.

The yellow car is the low end VW Fox, they may make an even smaller, cheaper one.

How 'bout 1956 Chev, red/white, in background.
How 'bout 1963 Ford Galaxie, black in middle of scene.
" " 1958 Buick, dark blue in parked line of cars.
    Packard, 1954?
In foreground, the ridge on the hood looks like a 1961 Chev?
Car moving away on street, 1963 Ford Sunliner?

    2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,557
Sounds good. I think the Packard might be a 55, and the Sunliner maybe a 61. And the car in the foreground bottom left looks like a Mustang to me.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
I think the Packard is a '55 as well, and I'm sure the blue car bottom left is a ''65 or ''66 Mustang.

I have no idea what the blue 'vert is.

You're right. Brain cramp on this end. The little fin sticking up at 45 degrees... 1961. That's the blue convertible...
