Definetly a Bizzarini. GT Strada 5300. Has a Vette engine, penned by Guigaro while he was at Bertone.

You've got it Boomer, it's the Italian Corvette with a 327 under the hood ca. 1968. Giotto Bizzarrini (2Zs+2Rs) was the engineer who designed the fabulous Ferrari 250 GTO. He left Ferrari along with Carlo Chiti and others during the Engineers Revolt which saw much engineering talent leave the company.

hmm...looks to me like a "first generation" Chevy Corvair..maybe 1962-64?

probably the Monza Spyder due to round guages
  • urnewsurnews Member Posts: 668
Sort of looks Covair-ish to me, too.
  • jbolltjbollt Member Posts: 736
yeah, well, I drove one for a while in High school...kinda dates me, eh? Wasn't the monza spyder, and it had that funny little lever on the dash that selected the gear (forward or reverse..hehe..powerglide) rather than the white ball on the stick between the seats for the 4 speed.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,674
    Yep, 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder.

Audi 100, must be late 80s/early 90s vintage I'll guess?

    That's a Peugeot 504 convertible, early 80s.

2.0L engine, and it came in only one trim level. Coupe was also available.

Nice looking car with clean lines.

In Britain this was sold as the Skoda Rapid 130 offered here circa 1982-87.

I think you're a little off Magnette, Motorbase.com shows it as the Skoda Rapid 110R 1970-81.

    Hmmm

Car at left looks like a Rolls SC/Bentley S1, car at right is a Mini of course...in the middle a Maserati maybe?
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,565
but since we are looking at French cars, I happened to see a magazine spread on a '65 Citroen. Kicker is, it was a hot rod, with a big V8 up front. Only saw 1 picture, no details. In some magazine called "rides", which seemed to mostly be ads for 22s (although there were wheels up to 30"), and silicone implants (some also 30")

You have them covered, Fin. The Maserati is a 3500GT Spyder by Vignale sporting a removable H/T, a popular option on sports/GT cars of the mid-late 60s.

Better to use that wood to make beautiful dashboards than to just burn it to clear land for grazing or growing grain. ;)

In any case it's from a 1967 Jaguar 340 Saloon, essentially the final version of the MkII. I wouldn't know why they changed the moniker but I think that's one of the prettiest dashes ever, except for the dorky wheel.

Nissan Qashqai, built on the Sentra platform (one of the reasons the Sentra is such a bloated sack these days). We will get a slightly facelifted version as the Nissan Rogue.

    Re Jag interior

Actually looking closer at those seats, yeah it is either a 340, or a last of the run Mk2 sedan (as they also could come with "Ambla" (cough - vinyl) seats as well.

Looks exactly like my Mk2's interior, except mine is black inside.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
The 340 is just a "base" version of the 3.8 with the smaller engine.

I was just kidding about the wood. I've owned a few older Jaguars and always like the wood. I enjoyed staring at it while waiting for the tow truck. Made me want to put on my slippers and smoke my pipe. I always wanted a little fireplace in the middle of the dash and bearskin carpets.

Beyond being a VW, I don't have a clue, except that it looks like something from the 1970s and probably not something sold in the U.S.

As for the Opel Speedster, I thought it's the same platform as the Solstcie/Sky. Am I wrong?

Nope not a Dasher either. The little known FWD Volkswagen (nee NSU) K70
was the template from which all modern VWS and Audis emerged. VW took over NSU just as they were about to begin sales of the K70. VW management realizing that the design was far superior to the rear-engined Type 4 put the K70 on the market in 1969 badged as a Volks but never exported it to the US.

You're right about the Solstice/Sky. They use the same platform as the gen II Opel Speedster.

Shifty, little confused by your comment. The 340 (and 240)were the renamed version of the Mk2 with some differences (the most obvious of which was the different bumpers), the 340 basically picked up from the 3.4 and 3.8L Mk2's (and the 240 from the 2.4 L Mk2's), just somewhat decontented compared to most of the Mk2's run (although some of the late Mk2's were basically the same level of content, just still had the old bumpers). Oh, and the 340's had a different head on the 3.4L than what was used on the Mk2's.

The way you stated the "3.8" that way, almost made it sound like you were refering to the S sedan, which was a different animal.

  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Yes I was rather sloppy about that. What I meant to convey was that the 3.8 was discontinued in 1967 and the 340 was a de-contented version of that earlier car, with that "Ambla" (wasn't that what they called it?) vinyl, cheaper carpets and less wood trim. But you are right, you COULD order real leather in a 3.4.

I don't like the "S" sedan personally. Very awkward car to my eyes.

Gee we could have stumped almost everyone by posting a 2.4L Jag sedan. I could have gotten even with Andy!
