That's an early Triumph GT6. Six cylinders and the chassis from a Triumph Spitfire...gotta love the Brits!

Heh. The page I found it on termed it "an exciting car... for boring people".

AMC Hornet - hard to imagine, these stayed in production, in various names, from '70 to '87.

Interesting trivia about the Nova "badge engineered" cars....

    Nova
    Omega
    Ventura
    Apollo

The first letters of them spells NOVA!

Regarding that pic of the Fox-bodied Mustang...

Who can guess what size tires go on those dashing alloys???
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,143
I'll let someone else do that, but at the time I thought they were great looking wheels. In '79 good alloys were few and far between, particularly on domestics.
  • karsickkarsick Member Posts: 312
Not only were the wheels good looking, but the whole car oozed restraint & tasteful design (keep in mind, you young 'uns, that this was the decade that brought us some SERIOUSLY overstyled cars, all of which had huge, ugly chrome bumpers).

The Mustang had nicely integrated mirrors, bumpers & lights, was devoid of "chrome overload" and other cliches. It's little wonder that same bodystyle was kept in the lineup for 15 years.
  • hudsonthedoghudsonthedog Member Posts: 552
The Michelin TRX tires found on early Fox-bodied Mustangs were metric measurements. I recall the wheels being (something close to) 390mm instead of 15 inches.

I had a 79 Mustang Pace Car with the Michelin TRXs. They were superb. I've always had Michelins whenever possible. But I was dreading replacement cost. Sold the car before I needed to replace tires, however. The cost was like three or four times the regular cost

I think the Tire Rack (and others) made a lot of money on replacement rims/tires because of those TRXs.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
$200 a pop? Jeez, the OEM Bridgestones on the S2000 are only $150 each from Tirerack.

Is it a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Nope, it's a '68. Those cars didn't have particularly nice interiors IMO,

    Nissan Stanza wagon.

That is the second Stanza (Bluebird) which was introduced AFTER the Prelude and after the first Stanza, but before the Honda Concerto.

....Now I just want to know how the Allegro fits into this, as well as Nissan's more recent (& smaller) car, the Note. :P
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
My first guess was a Rover Maestro (which is a badge engineered Honda Concerto iirc). They all kinda look alike.

This one's a little bit of a cheater as one car in the photo is Pre-WWII and another is a one-off but let's see if you can ID the rest.

Extra points if you get them all ;)

Techincally, it's an Australian Pintara wagon, but it and the last Stanza were both variations on the U12 Bluebird.

    Front.. '71-'73 2002

Some sort of touring model behind it.. maybe an E21 320i from the late '70s?

    Late '30s 328 roadster

Across the street? Not sure of the first convertible.. something from the early '60s? 1500?

Next one looks to be a late '50s 507, but might be an earlier 503..

Behind that one looks like a newer 7-series.

The coupe on the near side of the street is the 2002-based Frua coupe. I wish I could remember the four-passenger convertible.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,143
There's an article on these in the latest Autoweek. If you're interested in BMWs, it's good. There's also a good discussion on restoration costs and pitfalls.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
You've gotten all the Bimmers correct except for the white convertible which is a one-off 3200CS Cabriolet built especially for Herbert Quandt according to Autoweek, based on the more common Bertone-styled 3200CS coupe (Ca. 1965 never exported to the USA>

    image

I erred in my previous statement about there being a single one-off in the photo, the silver 2002 Frua GT4 coupe is also a one-off based on Frua's Glas bodies.

The orange 2002 is the only 2006 2002tii ever built. It was constructed from parts in the BMW inventory to illustrate the depth of BMW's spare parts inventories.

This is - I think - a Mazda Frendee Bongo - which has to be one of the craziest names I have ever heard of....
JDM model, of course, although we get them as grey-imports, indeed I actually saw one yesterday, and there was also a Ford badged version, sold through Autozam dealers in Japan, I think, and we've got at least a couple of those running round the streets of London, too.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
    Bongo Friendee it is.

I'm guessing this is the Canadian version of Chevy II, 1966 Pontiac, based on the "split" grill.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,557
    ca. 1966 Pontiac Acadian
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
You're both right, It's a '66 Pontiac Acadian Canso (I assume the top model, equivalent to our Nova).

Looks like a Fiat to me
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Yep looks like a 128 methinks.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,557
    128 didn't have dual lights did it? I know it's not a 130.

Once owned a 1974 128 Fiat. It didn't have quad headlights, just two of them. :)
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
It is a Fiat on which the polish fiats were based, and on which the Ladas were based as well.

I think the model designation is 125.

Duży Fiat (large Fiat) as it was called.

As anitquated as they were even for the 80s, they did have 4 wheel disc brakes.

Bingo, it's a Fiat 125 (ca. 1967 which was indeed the basis for the Polski Fiat. It's a size smaller than the FWD Fiat 128.>

    image

The 125 may have been the basis for some Ladas but the Lada 2101 was clearly a near clone of Fiat's 124 Berlina>

The Yugolsavian Zastavas were based on the 128. We had (I have a photo in my carspace, me sitting on the hood).
