Awesome car the R5 Turbo...if you ever get a chance to ride in one, take it!
  • hudsonthedoghudsonthedog Member Posts: 552
That last mystery car is the HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) Grange, based on the Holden Senator (and soon to be related to the Pontiac G8).

Just a wild guess here, but is that a VW Fox? :P

BTW - What is with the "SUV Chic" treatment being applied to every conceivable car????

If they ever put mud tires & cladding on a Lotus Elise, I may have to hurt someone!!!
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,143
Not a SUV, but how about a pickup?

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Not withstanding the plate, that's known in Brazil as the
VW CrossFox , it is a variant on the small FWD Fox sedan.

Suicide front doors point to it being a Fiat
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Fiat 1100 estate circa 1953 - it was probably called something like Publica or Gardineria, but I can't remember....maybe Familia ?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, Fiat 1100C Familia from the early 50s.

Very early Porsche 356, and yes, a nice shot
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I saw plenty of those, too, so they sell well. And guess what? FWD only. No AWD even as an option.

Fiat has a Palio Weekend Adventure that is similar in concept. They copied the Outback idea, basically, minus AWD.

The raised suspension actually makes sense in the pot-holed roads in Brazil, though.

    Honda Civic Ballade?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It's a Honda, but guess again on the model.

    Did you notice it's RHD?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
My next guess would be a Honda Stream, but I think the Stream is more MPV-ish.

    Honda Edix?
  • hudsonthedoghudsonthedog Member Posts: 552
    It's a Honda Odyssey....Japanese market model.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    That's it, Odyssey.

Her son goes to the same school as my son. She is from South Africa and a Diplomat, so they imported their van.

It's very, very space efficient. Much roomier inside than a Mazda5 or a Kia Rondo, for instance, yet not nearly as big as the US Odyssey.

    59 Renault Dauphine?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Pretty good guess but it's not a Dauphine, it's a
1958 Renault Fregate Transfluide, a larger contemporary of the Dauphine and as so charmingly put by the website Le Monde de l'automobile:

Première voiture française avec transmission automatique.

"Looked like a Hindustan to me "

I thought that at first as well...but the Hindustan doesn't have the wide rear fenders and the ornate grille.

At least it's licensed as one.

    A 55 Eldorado?
  • urnewsurnews Member Posts: 668
1957 Cadillac, maybe an ElDorado. Sweet machine.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep it's a '55 Eldo. The '55 Eldo differed from lesser '55 Cads by featuring a larger fin which appeared on all '57 Cadillacs. Cadillac had a habit of doing things like this with the Eldo.

The '53 Eldorado featured the wraparound windshield that all '54 Caddies would get and all GM cars got in '55.
