My Grandmother had a 1969 Firebird (just had the regular 350 in it) for years and years as it had been in the family since new. She sold it finally in the late 80's (broke my heart that she did....as I loved that car). It was a shade of brown that I won't tell you what the family (including her) called it as it was unfit for the board, but I think it was some sort of "brindle brown" maybe? Not sure if that is the correct name of the color.

Loved that one year styling of the Firebird.

Oh, forgot to add, that a few years ago (before my grandmother passed away) she was contacted by a guy who was restoring it. He had found a receipt with her name on it buried in the car and tracked her down. He sent some pictures of it being completely stripped and repainted white. It was being taken care of, which was nice to hear.

Yep, that is the very first Trans-Am MY 1969. That particular example is a Ram Air.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
The color says it's a 1970's car and the engines in front and the number of carbs says V8 so it's most likely a Ghibli, but it could be a Khamsin or an Indy.

yep, '72 Indy. Crazy thing is, this is a new paint job, different than original...not what I'd pick. My dad had a '72 Indy until he cracked it up (at age 86 :shades: ). It had an auto (not many to pick from in Cincinnati), and was a gas hog, without much performance in return. Our '69 Cutlass felt way quicker in everyday use.

Can you take it to Earl Scheib?

Too Martha Steward/50's elementary school hallway for me.

Nice that they got a matching field of canola in the background though.

    Alfa Romeo 1900?

Nope, it preceeded the 1900 by a few years.

It's really difficult to identify the two-tone green cabriolet, because from that angle only the coachbuilt parts are visible. I would guess the caochbuilder is Touring, but as for the chassis...
I can recall a Salmson that I saw in a magazine a few years back because that was green, but if not then perhaps Talbot-Lago ?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
I deliberately chose that angle because if the front of the car had been visible it would have been obvious that it was an Alfa, specifically an Alfa-Romeo 6C 2500, ca.
    1948-49.

Good call on the coachbuilder, most were Touring bodied.

I'll put 1967 Buick Riviera for the blue car. But the 68 and 69 were similar IIRC.

The Orange is a Ford Maverick. 1977?

Are there bonus points if someone identifies the third car in the picture (going the other way on the other side of the divider)? ;)

I had a 1983 Blur...it was a good car but it didn't photograph well. And cops kept giving me tickets thinking I was speeding while the car was parked.

1967 Pontiac Gran Prix (it sez so). Not positive about the year. Need to see the front.

  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Mercedes Benz 170, I think they called this a 170V. Anyway, clearly only just post war, say 1947.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,696
It's a 66 and the license plate was a 1966 plate; hence I covered the number and year of issue on the plate for privacy...

It's an Applebee's "Family" restaurant: "Good cookin' in the neighbor" was in their ads for a while.

    Yep it's Mercedes 170V but it's a 1950 model.

This is the 67 with the lidded taillights. I like that style taillight. The variations of the full-sized Gran Prix and various Pontiac models through that era are tough to sort out. I enjoy looking back to see them again.

I saw a Carrera GT in the parking lot at a car show last month... same color.

It belongs to Mike Valentine... of Valentine One radar detector fame..

Different is good. Too many cars look alike. Kudos to Audi, I say.

I love the carbon fiber C pillar insert, too.

Same here, VW redeemed themselves after following the outstanding 1st gen Scirocco with the forgetable 2nd gen version.

VR6 models were neat, but I think the blown G60 models spoiled their reputation before they really had a chance to take off.

Start Lab Open Street - contemporary Italian electric city car. They also make a 4 seater called the Open Hobby Work and a golf cart, which is probably their biggest seller.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
This one is being marketed out of Detroit as a Kurrent for that part of the US market that allows electric "golf cars" on the surface streets.

That's a 1956 base line Chevy. Model name may be 210? EDIT: 150 model

The car on right is a 1960 Chevy. The two taillights indicates a lower line model. Maybe called the Biscayne.

You know, looking at that photo above, it occurs to me that the license plate on the '56 Chevy is incorrect for the period.

I know that the plate on my folks' '67 VW Squareback was yellow on black; same with the original plate on my dad's '70 Chevy pickup. California didn't go to the yellow on blue plates until sometime in the 1970's.

    I can't tell with the '60 Chevy.

oh god I love those cars! Fiat Topolino, looks like one of the last ones, maybe a 1953 or so? This is the "convertible" I think. Nice little putt-putt, but forget the freeway.
