There was a mid-engine car that was (a lot) less than half the price of an NSX: the Toyota MR2. Still, Pontiac could have made some nice coin from an MR2 rival for a few years before the evils of the Quad 4 became apparent. The NSX was in a whole other galaxy in design, performance, and price (MSRP was something like $70k in 1990).
1973 Dodge Dart Swinger in one of the new fashion metallics available as a spring special that year. Only thing is, in that light and with this monitor, I can't tell if it's "Babypoop" with a hint of "Pondscum" or vice versa! :P
I'm guessing that convertible is something like a 1949 Plymouth Cranbrook?
Something like it. IMCDB sez it's a 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe. The Episode of TTZ is called "Nick of Time". I recognized the actress in the photo, Pat Breslin who co-starred with Jackie Cooper in The People's Choice, one of my favorite 50s sitcoms.
You know you're getting old when more people recognize William Shatner than Jimmie Stewart.
here's another car from that same episode, and you can see that '50 Plymouth 'vert in the back. This one's probably almost TOO easy to guess, though...
Close enough! It's actually a 1958 Plymouth Savoy, a name that's probably going to elude the memory of most people. It was a fairly low-line car, and the cheapest hardtop. Plymouth's lineup that year went Plaza/Savoy/Belvedere/Fury. I always thought the 2-toning was kinda neat on the cheaper models...looks like it was cribbed off a '55-57 DeSoto.
I actually kinda like that 780 coupe. As I recall, they weren't popular. Did they make the rear windows roll down on those cars, or were they stationary? Or flip-out, maybe? I know they couldn't make a window that big roll all the way down with a car that small, but I'm thinking of cars like the old BMW 635 or the Acura Legend coupes, where they'd get them to roll down at least part way.
Yes they were a sales dud. Mostly the problem was that you got a very expensive version of the stock car, with a funny roofline, and nothing much less for your money.
Youse are on the right track, it's the new '08 BMW 135i Convertible. If they continue current practice iDrive and SatNav will be optional on the 128i and 135i. I'm delighted to see that a pop-up screen takes the place of the unsightly Quasimodo hump that defaces the dashboards of current BMWs equipped w iDrive.
The 135i 'vert goes to the top of my wish list! Make mine Electric Blue! :shades:

Bertone did two Volvos, that one is known in Volvo-speak as the Volvo 262C (1977-81), a later Volvo Bertone coupe was known as the 780(1986-90)>

Almost seems too big inside to be a Z4, though.
And the 6 series is different.
I'm stumped. :confuse:
Idrive might be optional on both cars. It does have nav which requires Idrive for most new BMWs.
