The little bit of grille that is visible looks like an early 60s Impala but I always thought that Chevys had the oil fill in the valve cover. Could that be a 409? I like those dual quads.

It is a 409, those valve covers are not stock. The car it's in is indeed an Impala "Bubbletop", one of a handful of '61 Chevys that got the early versions of the legendary
409.

Lookin' good, my wife wants to pick one of those new Foresters up when they arrive in dealers (probably March).

Anyone else notice that pic is a 'chop? There's no way that car was actually in that background. The hoodline on the left is a bit off.

Yep, that's the original Saab 99 Turbo. Those wheels are referred to as Star Wars wheels in some circles.

I think they were so named because of their resemblance to an Aztec or Mayan calendar. Popularly they were called Star Wars wheels from their resemblance to the Fortress Maze in the Death Star.

IIRC, the 1987-91 Camry wagon wasn't a bad looking ride. That '92-96 style wagon bothered me on so many levels, but I think the biggest area was in the rear doors. They're different from the sedan model, and look to me like the '87-91 style door. So to me, that makes it look like Toyota just took a bunch of leftover parts and did what they could do to make them more or less fit, and threw that '92 era wagon together on the cheap.

It's a big city that gets a lot of tourists. A TV that isn't the one from this shot was "based" just a few blocks down this same street.

Minneapolis isn't a big tourist town (blowing my guess to pieces), but I see the passenger wearing a big beret-like hat with which to fling with glee (anyone familiar with the opening scenes will understand that part).

The TV show was a 1970's detective show called Banacek starring George Peppard. It was never a hit show but the scene was shot on Beacon Street on Boston
near Boston Common, a few doors down from the State House and just a few blocks from the intersection of Arlington and Beacon Street where the exteriors of the hugely popular Cheers were shot a decade later.

Anyone who's ever been to Beantown should recognize it.

In 1981 the original 5 Series, the E12, was replaced by the similar looking but more comprehensively equipped E28, I suspect the gray fender belongs to the latter tho it's impossible to tell. The Toro is an '85.

I'm going to say that the yellow car is a 1955 Hudson Hornet with a continental kit, while the blue and white truck is a 1957 Ford Ranchero.

I just scrolled thru a bunch of old '50s Hudsons and the '57s were the only ones that had big fins like that. It could be a Nash, since they were pretty close to Hudsons in that era (the swan song for both brands),

This is a scale model of the 1955 Hudson Hornet, which shows all of the same features as the picture. I don't see those as tailfins in the original picture, but something else. Otherwise, this model is the same vehicle as in the picture.
