Yup, that's the late Dodge Magnum, the last big wagon made in America (at least with a normal ride height)-2005-08. I believe that's the SRT-8 version.
OK, it's a Jag XKxxx, but I'm not well versed enough to tell whether xxx is 120 or 140 or even 150.
Anybody gonna say which XK?
lYep, It's a XK140 coupe---used to own one. Very nice car. A bit of a bear to drive as I remember, with a very clunky Moss gearbox, heavy steering. It was, if you pardon me saying, a "man's car" through and through. But ah, those huge leather seats, the burl dashboard, all those gauges wiggling around.
Speaking of gauges, and in particular the heat gauge------It always mystified me how, on a winter's day, I would be overheating wildly in traffic, and yet somehow Jaguar couldn't get all that heat (enough to process iron ore) just 4 inches through a firewall into the passenger compartment, which was a meat locker.
Yes it's a 1956 Jaguar XK-140 FHC but you sure can't tell by the little "trafficator lamps" ("turn signals" in American English) on the fenders. Those are common to all XKs until the E-type.
Truth is it's very difficult to tell an XK-120 from an XK-140, especially from that angle but you don't expect me to give you easy ones, do you?
My family had one of those 1959 Chevy tabletop fin jobs. Would barely go 60 downhill with a tailwind. IIRC, ours was a Bel Air, also a 2 door hardtop.
I'm guessing it didn't have a 283 or 327 under the hood.
Nope. Good thing too, cause there was a leak in the brake system somewhere and I was always topping up the master cylinder. I actually didn't mind driving it too much - at least it was an automatic and not a 3 on a tree. My brother used it for an occasional three hour drive home from college and hated it.
The pic was taken in 1960 in a town whose name would someday identify an event that actually took place nearly 60 miles away.
NY plates were actually blue and orange then, a scheme which was recently brought back. The colors are those of the Dutch royal house of Nassau and Orange going back to Nieuw Amsterdam.
Yep, Woodstock NY, a few years before it became a favored retreat for NYC-based musicians, artists and other figures. Woodstock is at the opposite end of the Catskills from Bethel/White Lake where the "Woodstock Music and Arts Festival" took place in 1969. The festival was moved because the town fathers wanted nothing to do with a massive rock fest.
Back to the cars, there's a 1940s black sedan parked under a tree. It looks like a MoPar to me but other than that, I couldn't say. To it's left is a 2-tone Olds ca. 56-58 and a '55-'56 Ford wagon. I think the red car is an early 50s MoPar with a '57-58 MoPar wagon next to it.
We're big on Chevy's today; 59 and 60. I still don't see how the 60 is considered a styling improvement over the 59, although the back end of that 59 Chevy wagon is a little different. Like the 59 Olds.
That is probably right, but the shape of the back of the roof just seems wrong. It's not a flat-top, but doesn't look like the six-window sedan or the coupe either. The lower tail lights seem wrong too. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations for a good optometrist?

In addition it seems that most XK-140s sport a pair of Lucas auxiliary lamps mounted on the bumper>
Similar lights are seen on a few 120s but they are usually spaced closer together.

That was a good one Andy - especially enjoyed the blue mailbox ID.
