I am thinking Maserati 3500 GT, but I am not certain about that.

The 107s are probably the least valuable cars in that storage area.

Looks like a Maser 3500 but the taillights are wrong. Pretty sure it's a late 50s/early 60s. Lancia Flaminia with a Touring body similar to the one they did for the Maserati. italian stylists often sold the same design to different companies.

Yup, pretty nice looking car for a glorified Nova IMO. I could do w/o the fake wires and radiator stand-up.

Now that's a car. You guys are gonna have ta name it, I don't know my German cars, baby. But that 4-door sedan can grace my driveway right now, as long as it has three pedals and a non-automatic gearshift.

No way! See the doorline back there? What? That's a mirror image of something else back there? There's just always something blocking me outta the German makes. It's just not meant ta be for this Midwest padre. :)

You were perhaps fooled by the shutline between the trunklid and rear fender, a reflection blocks the part that would continue below the trim if it were a door.

Michaell is right, that's a 1971 BMW 1602 sedan, sold here as a "1600" but widely known as a 1602 to avoid confusion with the earlier four door

Those wheels were seen as options on 2002s (and other cars of that era) they're either Campagnolos or Cromodoras (I forget which).

There's an easy way to tell a 1600 from a 2002 (at least from that angle), 2002s had black-out grilles.

Lancia Flaminia- either a 2.5 or a 2,8 Gt - some were a GTL. Body by Farina. Circa 1959/65
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
2.5--yes, very good. This is a Superleggera by Touring. Year is 1960.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,531
4 wheels, gasoline engine, top speed above 50 mph, I think that's about it. Definitely not in the styling. The older car is timeless, the lower one embodies the worst of some latest trends.

Definitely not 90s wheels. I still see one or two of these around, maybe worth the labor of love to someone, as I am sure they can be finicky.

This might not be quite fair---it's a real production car but it has been ever so subtly modified in the shape of the body. Interesting story behind this car if anyone is interested.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,531
I don't mind those wheels, they are period correct. I think Ford and Jag used a similar style in the 80s. The multi-spoke wheels like the updated ones on the Alfa remind me of optional wheels on a 2003+ MB R230 SL, who seem to have started a trend with them.

Looks like a Fiat of some flavor but I haven't a clue what it really is. I will say that titanium grey is working fine on this rig.

Well I won't drag this out. Yeah, it's a sweet looking car. It's actually an Apollo 5000GT "Spyder", a one-off creation made from a GT5000 Coupe. I met Milt Brown there, the original engineer for the Apollo, and he was extremely pleased with it, saying that it was the very car he wanted to build just prior to the company's bankruptcy.

"Spyder" is a rather loose term without distinct meaning, but it implies a roadster of very sporting qualities, and done to a rather minimalist standard.

The workmanship on this car has to be seen to be believed...just impeccable, from paint to finishes to stitching. It's a work of art, really. Even the door jambs and hinges are buffed to brilliancy.

    what year was that made?

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.

  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
It was created over a ten year period and recently finished. The original coupe was built in 1965. It has the original 5.0L Buick V-8 (slightly modified now) but has a special 5-speed manual transmission built in Australia for the Rover originally. The wires are beautifully restored Borannis and the tires are actually period-correct metric radials.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,531
The Apollo is most memorable to me for being the "Thorndyke Special" in the original "Herbie The Love Bug" movie:

What kind of ghastly mileage would you estimate that Spyder would get, Shifty? 5-speed stick is cool, amongst dozens of other things, at least.

Gee I don't know but I bet 15 mpg is pretty close to the money on a stock one. Now with a 5 speed and overdrive gear, that could get better.

    I see 2, maybe 3.

By the condition of some of the newest cars in the pic, I take it this isn't on the west coast. Either a dusty or harsh winter area.
