Yup, I believe the complete moniker would be 1957 Ford Fairlane Sunliner.

    Maserati 425? 430?

Always resembled a Sentra to me, and hilarious reliability.
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
Maybe a cross between a Nissan Sentra and an AMC/Renault Alliance ;)

    Keerect, it's a 1989 Maserati 430, a version of the Maserati Biturbo.

I knew a guy that got one as a company car, it lived up to it's reputation for terrible reliability.

1969 (?) MG C. I think it was a C? With the 6 cyl engine. Basing that on the high rise hood.

Yup, the bump on the hood was necessary to clear the big 3 liter six, the same motor powered the big Healeys until they were phased out after '67. British Leyland decided it would be too expensive to get the A-H 3000 into compliance w new US safety regulations.

The MG-C did not sell well in the US, perhaps it was more successful in it's home market, the UK. Those looking for a six-pot in the US scarfed up the 240-Z.

The MGC is actually a darn nice car, and it got a bad rap from the American automobile press, for some reason. I think they wanted it to be an Austin Healey 3000. Another mistake BMC made was installing automatic transmissions in a fair number of MGCs, which didn't help the sporting image.

The MGC got its revenge on the 240Z though. It's probably worth more today.

In some ways, more desirable than the roadster---and it looks like it was done right. I'm thinkin' mid $20Ks is possible. Depends on who is at the auction.

There can't be more than a few hundred of these left in the U.S. It would be a fun car to own and they can be made very reliable with a few paltry upgrades.

Wide range of car age there, as the pic was taken well into the 70s. The Ford 4x4 "high boy?" was uncommon even then, I think.

I'll also pick off the Pinto and what looks like a round light Monte Carlo further back.

    Actually it's a Euro-spec 1973 Fiat X 1/9 originally fr Poland. A late US-spec model would have had those awful 5mph bumpers 1974-1989 (sold as Bertone X 1/9 after 1982)>

I have a "comfort line" I will not cross with a car---if my knee hits the steering wheel every time I shift, I won't own it. I'll endure most things, but not that.

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,470
I guess I did get skinny. Still 6', but I got too good at the diet/exercise thing, and last I checked, was down to 157. Still with 36" arm length, and 11 shoe size. Long torso, short legs. Basically a really skinny ape build.

It was bad before, but finding cloths (shirts/jackets) that fit has become damned near impossible. Not many places sell Medium extra talls!

good news, I can just about finally wedge myself into GTI sport seats.

I have a certain tolerance, as the fact that, at 6'5", I owned an Alfa Spider for a decade. Of course, I didn't drive it all that much. As long as I can get the job done in the car, I'm OK.

Of course, there are still limits. I tried on an original Mini one time that a guy had at an autocross. Getting in the car was a trick in itself, but once in, I could not possibly operate the vehicle because my leg was between the wheel and shifter, preventing me from shifting into the right gate.
