Just wanted to thank this forum as it has been a great negotiating tool on the last 3 leased I've gotten over the last 2 years ( Audi SQ5, A6, and Tiguan) which I just closed few weeks ago.

After a long day of e-mailing a few local dealers I ended up with with a 17 Tiguan Sport 4 Motion.

36 mos/12k year

MSRP $35715
Sale Price $29058
Adj Cap Cost after $1000 loyalty $29711

$500 total at signing which included the 1st payment

$300/mo tax in (8% OH)

Dealer also included oil changes for 3 years at that price.

So I have a quote for a Wolfsburg edition FWD

MSRP: $30960
"sale" price: 26480
36 month residual price is $13,780 (didn't give %)
MF= 0.000010

Price they gave is $326 for 36 months@18,000 miles per year plus tax. (OH tax = 6.75%)

My thinking is that they are using the lease cash of $4300 to create the "sale" price. They are really only discounting the vehicle about $180. Granted it is 18k per year and not 15k, so that is something.
Currently drive a tiguan so $1000 returning customer is applicable as well.
Is my thinking correct regarding how they got to their sales price? How much can I get them down?

Really appreciate any help!

First, it amazes me how many FWD Tiguans are for sale in Ohio. I would have expected about 90% AWD, but that isn't the case (maybe, 50/50?).

That residual is $1080 less than the 15K/yr residual, so guessing that the residual reduction is $0.12/mile.
.00001 MF and 48% residual (about 44.5%, in this case). $30/mo. extra (+tax) for 18K/yr

At $26,480 CAP cost, the payment would be $353/mo.+tax.
How much did they say was due at signing?
Because, we still have to account for $625 acquisition fee, $250 dealer fee, $100 registration.

Thanks for the response! We have found AWD to be not much better than FWD and more expensive for maintanence and worse MPG.

We have been corresponding via email, so I don't have official quote. I will email and ask.

Yeah, I wasn't really commenting on your choice, just on the product mix. It surprises me.

The MSRP is $30,960 and we are $6,780 off down to $24,180 which includes all rebates and incentives including your owner loyalty.

So if you put your sales tax down plus $1,000 , we can get you down to $296 a month which gets you there."

I am in Ohio with 6.75% sales tax. I believe tax is calculated off the entire sales price. Is that correct?

I still feel like he is being deceptive.

In your first post, $26,480 is the sale price, and now it's $24,180.
So, $4300 incentive + $1000 loyalty + dealer discount of $1480.
That part is good..

Sales tax is applied to the sum of payments. So, anything you put down as a (CAP reduction + $1000 loyalty rebate + pre-tax payments) X tax rate = total tax.

So, in above example, ($296 X 36 + $1000 down + $1000 loyalty) X 6.75% = $855 total tax.

If we add $1000 to their price for acquisition fee, doc fee and title/registration, and subtract the $1000 CAP reduction, I get $289/mo. That's not far off their $296/mo.

If you add in $855 tax and take out the $1000 cap reduction, for an adjusted CAP cost of $26035, then I get a payment of $341/mo. (due at signing would be first payment only).

The discount is good, if my estimates are correct. Give them your location/tax rate, and tell them you want a quote with only first payment due at signing. Hopefully, that comes in around $340-$350/mo.
$300/mo. is unrealistic with 18K/yr, I think.

In NYC, have quote of $289 for 2017 Tiguan Wolfsburg AWD at $289 a month, with 1st month, bank fee, doc fee & tags due at signing... no other breakdown.

Im figuring a sales price of approx $30250.

My question, is I have till July 1st on another lease (non VW) approx $1K in payments. wondering if I should jump on this, or if the board thinks the current incentives may hold.
