Test drove the Jetta GLI today automatic transmission - which was an absolute blast to drive. Was offered a lease quote of 36mos/12k at $365 w/$661 due (1st payment/tax/tags) In the Phila PA region. MSRP was $30,235...
Can I do better?
What is the adjusted cap cost - the $661 due is not enough to capture all the taxes and fees.
(I test drove a GLI a couple months ago - though I drove a stick shift. Agreed about the fun factor!)
Just received an email from dealer: Cap cost is $25,788. Residual is 53% at $15,441.
.00050 MF and 53% residual That would be $292/mo.+tax, or about $321/mo.
Guessing that they are marking up the money factor, or that $25,788 is the selling price and not the full adjusted CAP cost. Adding the $625 acquisition fee only gets us to $310/mo.+tax, or about $341/mo.
Dealer followed up the offer with another: $349 a month including tax with just tag down at $296.
If I add $625 acq.fee + roll in the $349 1st payment to the CAP cost, then with adjusted CAP of $26,762, I get a payment of about $351/mo, after 10% sales tax is added.
I'd say you are right on the money Can you do better? Not sure, but $4500 off MSRP is pretty good on a GLI, I would think.
I asked what the MF was on the GLI lease quote, and the dealer stated it was .00071 and the residual is $15,441 @ 53%..So it looks like they are marking up the MF, not sure how much interest that adds, or if I should just tell em to bring it back down to the Sept base MF.
Politely tell them you won't sign a deal unless the base MF is used.
Welp, I was about to, but then I got another offer from another dealer...This one seems too good to be possible given the MF/Residual. The dealer said it did include monthly tax, assuming everything checks out I think I am gonna move on it this week.

What cap cost is the dealer using to get their payment?
And, I don't understand what the tax amount represents. PA taxes the monthly payment.

Not sure what that large tax number means either, I did ask several times if that $319 figure included monthly tax and he said that it did. Frankly, looking over the deal the supposed monthly was so much better than I anticipated that I didn't evaluate everything closely on the offer. I'm a little wary that there could end up being a surprise catch at the end that would take on more $ - hence why I didn't sign immediately. But I'll do my due diligence and follow up with them. Thanks Michael

Be advised, PA assesses a 3% surcharge on the sales tax for leases. If your normal rate is 6%, the tax rate will be 9% for the lease.

But, fantastic deal. If my budget can stretch that much when my current Jetta lease is up, I'd get one, too.
Looking for residual and MF for a 2017 Jetta SE or SEL 36/10k or 12k in the DC metro area (Rockville, MD). Any lease cash available or other offers? I'm planning to trade in my leased 2014 Jetta SE, with about 12,000 under on my mileage. Thanks!

The current VW numbers are valid through Monday, 2 October
47%? Ouch. that would be barely $11K (slightly under). A good buy out candidate. at least the money factor is pretty easy to calculate! Pretty much zero interest.

Yeah, MF can't get any lower than that.
The MF on my 2016 Jetta SE lease was .00005 - the total rent charge for 36 months is $53.
And, the residual has been under 50% for a number of months.
well, it is a MY behind, and about to be replaced. So at least realistic. Can still get under $200/month with a big enough discount + lease cash. Local guy has them listed at about $4,800 off, but not clear what the incentives included are.

Sell prices for VWs usually aren't good with the lease program. They have a lot of dealer incentives behind the scenes for buy vs. lease. We see it a lot.
Hello Can you tell me what the money factor and residual is for a 2017 Jetta GLI manual in NJ 36months 10k miles. Also are there any incentives available for this trim. Dealer advertising MSRP 29,065 and discounted price $21,996. Seems like a big discount I assume I wouldn't be able to get any lower. Looking to only pay first month down payment

.00026 and 54%; no lease incentives
My guess is that advertised price is for a purchase, not a lease.
Need some advice. I’m currently in a 2015 GLI SEL. lease is up in January and I already have $2,100 in mileage overages.
Cost to buy the car is $18,960 plus tax and it’s only worth like 14,500. What would you guys do? Call it a day and get out of the car and into a new lease and pay the overages or purchase the vehicle knowing you’ll be upside down?

Do you like the car? Would you be ok keeping it long enough to get right side up on the equity?
If you lease another VW, some of those charges may be waived.
Hey.. I'm in NY and thinking about leasing a Jetta SE manual for 36 months with 12k.. I currently have 10 more payments on my 2015 passat limited lease at 215 per month.. Is this the best time to make a move or should I wait? I'm still good with my mileage but don't want to pay for 30k maintaince.. Currently at 26k.. Can you please tell me the the MF and res and if there are any other incentives that would make this decision easier? Thanks

.00001 and 47%; $1900 lease cash
The $2150 of remaining lease payments (or the negative equity if you trade it in) has to go somewhere, and that's likely into your new lease. That's about $60/mo to be added.
That is a lot more than the 30K service will cost you.

What cap cost is the dealer using to get their payment?
And, I don't understand what the tax amount represents. PA taxes the monthly payment.

Can you tell me what the money factor and residual is for a 2017 Jetta GLI manual in NJ 36months 10k miles. Also are there any incentives available for this trim.
Dealer advertising MSRP 29,065 and discounted price $21,996. Seems like a big discount I assume I wouldn't be able to get any lower. Looking to only pay first month down payment
My guess is that advertised price is for a purchase, not a lease.

Cost to buy the car is $18,960 plus tax and it’s only worth like 14,500. What would you guys do? Call it a day and get out of the car and into a new lease and pay the overages or purchase the vehicle knowing you’ll be upside down?
thanks
If you lease another VW, some of those charges may be waived.

The $2150 of remaining lease payments (or the negative equity if you trade it in) has to go somewhere, and that's likely into your new lease. That's about $60/mo to be added.
That is a lot more than the 30K service will cost you.
