    Hi Michaell,

Can you confirm I am thinking about this the right way for a Jetta SE?
    MSRP- 22815
Sale price - 19339, based on TrueCar average
    CA fees - assuming $280
    Rebate - 1500
    MF- .0002
    Residual @ 10k - 54%
    CA sales tax - 9.5%

By my calculation, I am looking at a an after tax payment of about $175 with $604 due at signing (1st month payment, sales tax on the $1500 and the $280 in DMV fees. Does that sound right to you? Am I correct that the $1500 rebate requires paying tax on it upfront?

    Many thanks for your help.

I realize I forgot to add the $625 acquisition fee. So with that I get to an after tax monthly of $194 with $624 due at signing. Thanks again for your help.

I have a local dealer advertising a lease special on a Jetta SE ($23,215 MSRP) for $74.65/month with $2,500 in drive-off costs. This is for 24 months/10k miles.

I was told the following costs are included in the $2,500 drive off:
    $619.93 taxes
    $250.00 doc fee
    $100.00 plates
    $625.00 acquisition fee
    $905.07 down payment

Based on these numbers I'm trying to figure out what the monthly payment would be if I rolled all the drive off expenses into the monthly payment and bumped the miles up to 15K. My tax rate is 6.75%. Can anyone help?

    Assuming this is Ohio?

$2500 + $696 (3% of MSRP for 15K/yr) = $3196/24 payments = $133/mo. Maybe, $135/mo. with tax. (only difference in tax is on the extra $696). Should take you to about $210/mo. with zero due at signing.

Which, considering only 23 payments.. .is a great deal for a $23K MSRP vehicle.

Wow, super helpful info here. Glad to have found this since my dealer is trying to take me for a ride.

Need current MF and residual for:

    Jetta SE 5-spd 36 mo/15k.

    Thanks in advance!

.00020 MF and 51% residual. $1500 lease cash.
My dealer says the 51% residual is incorrect on a 15k/year lease for a Jetta SE. Of course I instinctually distrust anything the dealer says. Can you confirm that 51% residual number?

UPDATE: Dealer now agrees with the 51% residual value. Surprise surprise.

Dealer cannot alter the residual value; it is set by the bank.

Thanks for that breakdown. I'll go back to the dealer to see what they'll offer. Also, how is the sales tax calculated in Ohio (6.75%)? The $619.93 I was quoted seems high.

(Sum of payments + downpayment + acq.fee) X tax rate, collected upfront.
I agree.. $620 seems like a lot. Unless a big customer rebate/incentive is involved.

I currently own a 2008 VW Jetta and visited a dealer today to get a quote on leasing a 2017 Jetta SE and got the following quote 36 months:

    MSRP 23,085
    Selling Price 19.795
    Gross Cap Cost 21,007.74
    Adj Cap Cost 19,676.70

    Sign and Drive $331.04
    Monthly Lease $225.88

I have one payment left in my current lease (not VW) that they will cover as well as a penalty of $350 for not leasing the same brand again.

    Is this a good deal?

    Thanks in advance

I'd say it's a good deal. I leased a 2016 Jetta SE in August - I had 2 payments left on my non-VW lease, was over mileage and had a damaged rear bumper. I paid only my first payment at signing and my payment is about the same. You're getting more features for roughly the same payment.

Even though the payment is about the same as yours, when I visited the dealer I was told that I got a rebate of 1,000 because I own a VW. If I compare your deal to mine, my math would say that they can drop another 1,000 for the term of the lease

Not sure if my math is correct.

    A fair statement.

Use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the page to link to the price tools. As you say, there may be another $1000 of discounting they can give you on the selling price. Can't hurt to ask.

Can I get res and money factor on a 2017 Jetta GLI DSG trans, 12k 36 month and 15k 36 month in Seattle WA. I'm a current owner of VW so assume I get a loyalty credit as well. Not sure of that includes the lease cash of $1250 I've seen posted earlier. Thanks.

    .00020 and 59% / 57%. $1250 lease cash.

Loyalty incentive will stack on the lease cash.

My current best price is $290 incl. tax for 36/10k for an SEL.
I'm currently leasing a 2014 Jetta SE w/ connectivity, 10k miles under limit, 3 payments left.

What is the MSRP and selling price?

    Hello,
I was wondering if this was a good deal.
    State = Florida.
    2017 Jetta SE
    leasing 36mo/12k
    invoice 23,375
discount 5,000 which includes deal cash : loyalty bonus etc..
I'm also trading in a 2007 Jetta which they says they are giving me $3000.00 for the trade-in.
which gets the price to 15,375.00.
Total monthly payment $164.00 / with no money down
Can you advise if this is a good deal or should it be less being the buyout at the end of the lease is $12,400.
    Cap cost 15,375 - 12400 residual =  $2975.00
My cost for the lease  would be 164.00X36 = 5904.00

Should fees add up to around 2900.00 (tax / lease fee / doc fee /etc)

    thanks

You don't just have fees, you also have the finance portion of the lease (interest, more or less).
The payment seems a little high with $3000 downpayment (your trade).
Ask the dealer for the actual adjusted CAP cost, and also the money factor used.

MSRP is $26,355.00, selling price $21,998
Nothing due except $309 for DMV. Tax rate for Philadelphia is 8%.

Without rolling the the remaining payments in (about $600) the price is $275, rolling it in results in $290. 36mo/10k

I'm not sure what the actual cap cost is but dealer fees are 999.99 which seems high and the MF is .00020.
I'm thinking the deal should be around $130-140 a month?

You must be in Florida - home of the excessing dealer fee. Negotiate a lower price to negate that.

    MF is correct at .00020

Well I went back to the dealer and to see if they could offer the SE for $210 with zero due at signing based on there advertised special and they came back with $260 month sign and drive. Not sure where the increase of $50 is coming from. I've asked for the cap cost of the car but they keep ignoring my question.

Hello I am curious about the money factor and residual for a 2017 Jetta SEL, 36k/3 year lease, in Columbus, OH (43206). Thank you so much!

I'm looking to trade in an early leased Jetta, where I have 9 months left on lease for just under $1700 left in payments. Dealer is working a deal to write me a check for the $1700 to pay off my remaining payments and turn in car early. I'm looking to get a 2017 Jetta GLI with DSG trans. 36 months, 12K. Here are the details they are offering from a Seattle WA dealer.....

    MSRP: $30,215
    Total Savings: $3,520.72
    Selling Price: $26,694.28
    Govt Fee: $395
    Proc/Doc Fee: $150
    Gross Cap Cost: $29,169.28
    Adjusted Cap Cost: $28,122.87
Accessories: $1700.00 (This is a check they will cut for me to pay off my remaining lease)
    Rebate: $1,385
    Total Due at Signing: $545.00
    Total Monthly Payment: $385
    Residual Value: $17,827

    IS THIS A GOOD DEAL?

Forgot to mention that their MF is 0.0014, because of the heavier than normal discounts and the $1700 check being cut to me. I'm debating if I should wait the 9 months, and possibly be over my miles by 3000k, or take an early deal (if it's good enough) to move to a newer car.

That MF is marked way up - .00020 is the base rate. Unless you have less than perfect credit, you should always get the base rate.

They are not taking the car off your hands? I would avoid that, as you'll still be responsible for end of lease charges (mileage, damage).

If you can, wait until your current lease is closer to completion.

Thanks. Dealer won't get my business I told them without a MF at .0002 and they would take the lease in as a return, and then VW credit would ask that I pay the remaining cost of $1650. That's how they came up with this deal. I'm 90% sure I'm staying with the current car and will wait it out. Appreciate the feedback for sure! You guys are awesome! Cheers!

That's including the remaining payments (~$600), correct?
(my calculations are $248 incl. rollover in the best case, and without tapping into dealer cash it would be $279 incl. rollover)
    can you confirm this calculation?

I don't know if the cap cost you gave me included the remaining payments or not - I simply used the numbers you gave me.

Yes, you're on the hook for the payments on your current lease - either pay it out of pocket, or roll them into the new lease.

    Hi guys!
I've got this deal for Jetta S, Auto in LA, California.
    1) Stated price $19,945 (im not sure if this is MSRP)
    2) Cap Cost = $16800 but i get first month rebate
    3) Paid 350 for DMV fee upfront
    5) Residual value: 11007 (according to the dealer) for 10k miles/yr (but I got upgraded to 12k)
    6) Monthly payment (final, with all taxes fees) $210 + 30 (Volkswagen Lease Wear and Tear fee)

Is that Lease Wear and Tear coverage even necessary? Is it possible to cancel the coverage if I am in the process of waiting for my cosigner to notarize my contract?

Is this a good deal in general? Thank you

If the contract hasn't been completed, you should be able to make any changes that you and the dealership agree to.

$1080 to possibly avoid some wear and tear charges seems like a lot.

I'm paying a little bit more than you for a 2016 SE, with only first month due at signing. And, that payment includes mileage charges from my old lease, two remaining payments and a damaged rear bumper on my old car.

You might be able to do a little better on an S.

may extend up to 180 days after the original scheduled
    termination date

do you still think i should cancel it?

What about the price im paying? is 210 a good deal?
If you take good care of your car, you shouldn't need it. Nice profit-maker for the dealership, mainly.

How about my monthly payment? Is 210 per month a fair deal?
Other than the DMV cost, what else is due up front?

I'm paying a little bit more than you for a 2016 SE, with only first month due at signing. And, that payment includes mileage charges from my old lease, two remaining payments and a damaged rear bumper on my old car.

You might be able to do a little better on an S.

Im only paying the dmv fee. Thats it. But i upgraded to 12 k mileage from 10k and getting the one with the alloy tire.

If you're rolling everything into the lease, then that's a good payment.

Hi guys! I've got this deal for Jetta S, Auto in LA, California. 1) Stated price $19,945 (im not sure if this is MSRP) 2) Cap Cost = $16800 but i get first month rebate 3) Paid 350 for DMV fee upfront 5) Residual value: 11007 (according to the dealer) for 10k miles/yr (but I got upgraded to 12k) 6) Monthly payment (final, with all taxes fees) $210 + 30 (Volkswagen Lease Wear and Tear fee) Is that Lease Wear and Tear coverage even necessary? Is it possible to cancel the coverage if I am in the process of waiting for my cosigner to notarize my contract? Is this a good deal in general? Thank you
If the contract hasn't been completed, you should be able to make any changes that you and the dealership agree to. $1080 to possibly avoid some wear and tear charges seems like a lot.
The coverage covers the following Up to a maximum of $10,000 in eligible wear charges during the term of the contract • Eligible single damage incidents with a cost of repair less than $1,000 • Up to maximum of $100 for each missing part or equipment • Zero deductible • Coverage is valid from the date of lease inception and may extend up to 180 days after the original scheduled termination date do you still think i should cancel it?
