Hi I am looking for the best lease deal on a 2016/2017 I Sport Automatic Sedan 36 month or 39 month. 12k miles annually. Also are these figures being provided the lowest figures a Mazda dealership are allowed to take? My apologies if these come across as newbie questions.

The residual is set by the bank and cannot be modified by the dealer. The MF is for top tier credit; dealer can mark it up for extra profit.

    Hi there,

Would appreciate the current money factor and residual for the 2017 Mazda3 Sport Sedan:
    - automatic, 2.0L
    - Southern California (LA area)
    - 36 month/12K mile lease

Also found a few dealers offering $1000 off leftover 2016 models, so also looking at the Mazda3 i Touring Sedan (MSRP $23,030) and Hatchback (MSRP $23,730), both automatic (2.0L engine) with the popular equipment package (Bose stereo w/ CD player).

Asked for those MF/residuals on the 2016 thread, but would also love to know how you feel the deals on the 2016 vs. 2017 should compare at this point in the 2016's cycle?

Any advice for negotiating a great deal on one of the few models left from the previous year during the last week of the year?

Read on leasehackr.com that a stellar lease deal with residual over 55% and a highly motivated dealer can yield a monthly payment of around 0.5-0.8% of the MSRP … is that the goal in any case? Is it more likely on the 2016 now that they're almost gone?

    Thanks so much!

2016 inventory is probably shrinking, so if you want a deal, this is the week to score it. Dealers are motivated.

Any substantial differences between the model years?

Not sure you can score that great of a lease deal on any car (.5% on a $20K car is $100/mo - really?)

Yes, I thought that sounded incredibly low, too.  It may have been part of a thread on a BMW lease deal, so maybe that makes more sense when you have a high MSRP, get a motivated dealer to knock $10K off the price, and put down a few grand in multiple security deposits (as that person had done to get to $315/month).

2016 was the model redesign, with a light refresh for 2017.  The Bose surround stereo upgrade (popular package) includes a CD player on the 2016 i Touring (which my wife prefers as she has a lot of rare albums not on streaming services and doesn't want to move them all to her phone or cloud) and the moonroof is standard at that level (must be added with the popular package on 2017s).

How low do you think we can get a dealer to go on a 2016 if they have a handful or even just 1-2 left to clear out?  Should we be aiming for a certain percentage of MSRP on the final price to make it low enough to compensate for the lower residual and higher money factor?

Thanks again and happy almost new year!

Sounds to me like the 2016 is the preferred model year, based on your description.

Thanks again! Yes, would love the 2016 i Touring with the nicer options, if it's a great deal. The sedan's residual is pretty low at 49% though and MF isn't the best, but the lease cash helps. The dealer we're emailing with will have to be very motivated to bring down the price. There are two of these sedans on the lot there.

TMV is $20,851 including a $1K incentive (customer cash from Mazda). If lease cash is applied on top of that, $18,591 would be the number to beat. If it's only one or the other, depending on whether you finance or lease, then it's $19,591. Not sure if that yields a good enough payment for last year's model …

So far we've received this email quote for $19,466 from this dealer, an hour away from us:

    MSRP $23,030
    Dealer Discount -$1,564
    Mazda Customer Cash -$1,000
Standard APR -$1,000 <—asked them to clarify if this requires taking their financing

    E-Price $19,466

Other dealers within an hour's drive have 1 hatchback each, so we're getting quotes on that too.

That said, another dealer near us where we initially test drove the 2017 Sport sedan offered $200+tax on that one and to pay the last 4 payments of our current lease (2014 Honda Civic, which has a payoff $3K above its trade-in value). If the actual price is good, the .00006 MF and 53% residual make that a compelling compromise.

Decisions, decisions … we'll get see what offers come in today.

    53% and .00006

2016 inventory is probably shrinking, so if you want a deal, this is the week to score it. Dealers are motivated.

Hi guys... Hoping to close on this one today and stop bugging you for numbers!

Looking for MF and residual for a touring hatch manual in WI. 39/12 and 36/12. If 10 mo. is looking better I'll take those as well..

    Thanks for all the help!

Just realized I'm repeating myself, ignore my last request...

Can you guys check my numbers please.

    MSRP: 23,430
    Cap cost: 21,762 + 595 acquisition = 22,357
    .00006 mf and 53% residual with a 5.6% tax rate = $271.32 /mo

The dealer is insisting that the price comes out to be $295/mo and that my "online app" is wrong. I can't figure out how they're coming up with the $295 per month

I get $294/mo with those numbers (including tax), assuming 36 month term.

Can't help you with the lease app - they often make assumptions we know nothing about.

For what it's worth, we've been finding the bankrate, leaseguide, and Edmunds sites' lease calculators are all lining up, but the dealers are often off by a dollar or so. Could be rounding up or down, but definitely check their money factor/interest rate (I imagine that if they ran your credit and it's not the top level, they may have raised the rate a touch … maybe you could negotiate there).

Will post more details later, as we now have various quotes and waiting on one more tomorrow morning, along with confirmation of our lease calculations for one phone offer.

In the meantime, have the money factors, residual values, and lease cash changed for January 2017? Would greatly appreciate any updated numbers, hoping to wrap up a deal on one of these vehicles tomorrow:

Mazda3 (all automatic, 2.0L, in Southern California - LA area & talking to 1 dealer in Riverside)

    2016 i Touring Sedan
    2016 i Touring Hatchback
    2017 Sport Sedan

Will post the 2016 ones in that thread, too. Thanks so much, good luck fellow shoppers, and happy new year all!

I think it's simply that I asked the dealer for a 39 month quote and that they're using all of my numbers to calculate except for the that one and are instead calculating at 36 months.

Ok guys, please confirm if this is right for 39 months...

    MSRP: 23,430
    Cap cost: 21,762 + 595 acquisition = 22,357
    .00006 mf and 53% residual with a 5.6% tax rate = $271.32 /mo

Thanks again as always, heading to the dealer in a couple hours and want to make sure I'm not missing something.

    Hello,

Can I get the numbers for a Mazda 3 HB Grand Touring-Automatic for 39 months at 15k miles per year?

    Im in Northern CA.

I think it might be 53% and .00006 but I want to be sure.

    Thanks,

    Mike
