This isn't so easy! Is it reasonable to look at various sites online to see the relative discounts relative to MSRP and use that as a starting point for Cap Cost? What happened yesterday was that the dealer added a bunch of fees like Aquisition Fee, Destination Charge, Documentation Fee, License and Title, etc. All of these added to the Cap Cost. What started as $0 down ended up as $2300 down. I know TitlHow do I know what is a legitimate "add-on"?

That's exactly what I ran into! I know title and license is "real" and I suppose all of them are "real", so I have new strategy. I go to various sources to find a reasonable reduction from MSRP and that is my target Cap Cost. Then I know dealer will add ~2% title and registration. From there everything is negotiable, so I figure the expected payment without the fees, and the payment if they add $1000 in fees. I'll negotiate to reach the half way point. Good luck. Also I found somewhere on this site a lot of detail on these various fees so search for it.

Doubtful either of those incentives would be applicable to a lease.

Or am I mis-understanding something? It looks like with no $ down, my payment would be about $323 for a 36/10k. Any thoughts would be so helpful. Thanks!

VA taxes the entire selling price, so the lease payment will be high compared to other states.

Need the MSRP and adjusted cap cost to model the payment.
