You really don't want to lease any BMW for longer than 36 months ... 36/42/48 month residuals (no 39 month program from BMW):

.00140 and 56% / 47% / 35% (all 15K miles; add 2% for 12K or 3% for 10K)

A dealer told me today that for 2018's the residuals won't change can't change from month to month since it's too early with the 5 series being new. Could this be true?  I was hoping to see some type of change over the next 3 months

I wouldn't believe anything the dealer says about the lease numbers. They are good until the end of the month. Could they change? Maybe.

But - nobody knows until they are released.

My guess (and, guesses are 2 for .25) - the residual will stay low until the 2017 stock is depleted. BMW has a habit of setting their numbers for new models at a point where it makes more sense to lease the old models.

Sorry that got posted before I could comment. This is the deal I just signed for a 2018 BMW M550xi The Money Factor from the dealer was .00166. I couldn't get them to budge. The Money Factor I'm showing reflects a .00049 reduction due to 7 security deposits. Car supposed to arrive in early June.

Congrats! I suspect you would not have gotten such a large discount from sticker had you pushed for the base MF.

Have been cruising other BMW blogs for lease numbers on 2018 M550. One of the long time bloggers said MF was 0.0014 like here (with max markup to 0.0018), but another got 0.0012 in New York (not using MSDs). Do you see different MFs around the country? I thought MF was same everywhere.

.00146 is the base MF, this month - that is national.

Those who qualify for a fleet discount will see a .00020 reduction in that rate.

Dealers can mark the MF as much as .00040 for extra profit.

That may explain the different numbers you are reading about.

The May programs are set to be released on Tuesday; may be a day or two after that before we see them.

Thanks for the info. Too bad they keep raising MF rates, although that's in line with the market in general. BTW, dealers in the SF Bay Area are telling me no MSDs effective May 1.

We aren't showing numbers for a 2018 540.

But, we only have limited BMW info for this month, so far.

Just FYI, BMW is not currently offering the standard "e" rebate on the new 530e. They claim that because the base MSRP is only $200 higher than the 530i, they don't need to.

How does the federal tax credit apply for a 530e AWD lease? If the MSRP is, say, $65k does the $4,668 tax credit work as a cap reduction? Is that going to be just about the only discount I could get on a 530e?

You should target 7% off sticker, before applying any incentives.

I believe the $4668 is used as cap reduction.

As a lessee, you don't get the tax credit. BMW could pass it along as an incentive, but it doesn't appear as though they are, in this case. Unless you've heard differently from a dealer?

Dealer F&I just confirmed that they pass it along as a cap reduction on every car except the 530e....

That's what I figured.. on the other hand, the 530e has the same residual percentage as every other 5-series. Most plug-ins have much lower residuals, so the tax credit is necessary to keep the lease price in a reasonable range. This model doesn't have that issue.

Most cars that are eligible for the incentive have pretty low residuals to make up for it. The 530e has the same residual as every other 5-series. You can't negotiate with the dealer for the incentive, because the bank gets it, not them.
