I'm new to this so any help is much appreciated, here's the details from the dealer (Texas):

I’ve been using the same incentive setup throughout, $3,000 BMW of Austin Discount on this one + $3,000 Lease Credit on the hybrid + $1,000 Conquest Certificate + $1,250 tax credit. The latter two were dependent on my having a vehicle here for you to contract on by end of the month although I’d like to think we’ll have something similar as December rolls around. I can lock in the Lease credit for an order. The certificate and tax credit aren’t lockable unfortunately.

    VEHICLE: 2018 BMW 530e iPerformance
    MSRPL AS EQUIPPED $63,160.00
    SELLING PRICE $60,160.00

    36 Months 15,000/year
    Money Factor 1.92
    Residual Factor 58%

    Selling Price $60,160.00
    Cap Reduction Tax (6.25%) $3,431.88
    Bank Fee $925.00
    Capital Reduction $5,353.00
    Total Capitalized Cost $59,163.87
    Residual Value $36,632.80
    Total Depreciation $22,531.07
    Monthly Depreciation $625.86
    Monthly Finance Charge $183.93

    Monthly Payment $812.79

    Capital Reduction $5,353.00
    Up Front Tax (6.25%) $0.00
    License & Registration $203.00
    Documentation Fee $127.50
    First Payment $809.79
    Security Deposit $0.00
    Drive Off $6,493.30
    Rebate $5,250.00
    Due at Signing $1,243.30

    1. invoice Invoice is $59,385.
    2. residual value 58% $36,632.80
    3. money rate 1.92

    4. are you including gap insurance, drive off fees, acquisition or disposition fees Gap insurance is built into all BMW leases. It did include all fees with the exception of a Disposition fee which is charged at the end of a lease term for individuals turning in and walking away from a lease

    Comments:

    1. Ask for a breakdown of the $1243 due from you at signing - what does this cover?
    2. The MF is marked up from the base of .00152, likely adding $40/mo or so to the payment.
    3. You are getting less than 5% discount from sticker - you should target 6% off MSRP, before applying any incentives
    4. Texas assesses sales tax against the entire selling price of the car; I'd want to know if the large up front cash amount is covering that. If they are giving you a tax credit, that is good for you.
    5. Ask for the adjusted cap cost - this would be the selling price plus any taxes and fees you aren't paying up front, less any cap reduction (down payment)

I confirmed with two separate dealers that the "credit" on the 2018 530e is $3,000 dollars. But I can't find any online reference to $3,000 dollars, only $2,000 dollars. Just want to make sure my information is correct.

    $2000 for "e" models.
Here's the $3000 lease credit on the 530e.

Interesting - it's either a mid-month update (which we won't know about) or a regional offer (which we also won't know about)

Given your experience and knowledge, at this late date into November, could a better deal be had next month?

Thanks for the shout out on the experience and knowledge, but my skills don't extend into clairvoyance. No insight as to what might happen to the numbers in December.

Hi, looking for some help/opinions on a 2018 M550 I am looking to order. Here is what I've been sent thus far, I know the discount off of MSRP isn't as much as it should be, but this may be the bottom of the deal with this dealer. Any thoughts/opinions would be helpful at this point. I'm in CO and my tax rate is 5%. Thanks
    36 month lease
    12k per year
    $88470 MSRP
    $85685 Lease purchase price
    $2000 rebate
    $925 BMW Acq fee
    .00152 money factor (3.65%)
    $53082 residual
    $1085 payment before tax

We do try to encourage 7% off sticker price, before incentives.

But, a special order on a limited edition model like the M550 may reduce your leverage.

    Base MF is good.

You must live in an unincorporated part of the state to have sales tax that low - mine are 8% in suburban Denver.

Which dealer are you working with?

Schomp is a one price dealer, so I doubt you'll get much traction trying to negotiate a better price. But, they don't charge a dealer fee, so there's that. You might want to reach out to a couple of the other metro Denver dealers to see if you can get a better price.

I think you misunderstood my question about timing - Given information that you’ve provided to all of us in the “past”, have you “seen” that the month of December has been better than November. I know that you cannot predict the future. What happens if I have discussion on numbers in Nov, but I don’t sign the contract until Dec - do I get the Nov offers or the Dec offers? Thank you

I think that if you don't sign a contract by Thursday COB, then the new numbers go into effect on Friday. Could be better, could be worse, but likely not to be all that different (that's me going out onto a very thin limb with that statement).

How do the dealer tax incentives work when applied to a lease in Texas. Does it lower the MSRP or can it only be used to apply against the state taxes I have to pay ? I know the a dealer around here that has quite a bit of lead way.
    Thanks

It's a credit against the sales tax.
Generally, when BMW offers tax credits in Texas, it lowers the rate to 1.25% from 6.25%.

So on a 60K car, I would want them to give me 3K in tax credit to get max benefit ?
    Thanks

That's just what we've heard in the past. Likely, they'll tell you what they can give you in tax credits, and it won't be negotiable.

I had a Texas dealer offer the sales tax credit only if I a) did a single payment lease and b) accepted a higher base MF (which was stated to be a requirement of BMW FS). I declined the offer and saved a ton of money doing a standard lease from an out-of-state dealer. Hopefully you have better luck!

I believe the part about needing to do a single-pay lease... but, I have doubts about the higher money factor being a BMWFS requirement.

I do as well, despite them "confirming" it when I very specifically asked about it. Didn't make sense to me so I moved on.

Honestly I had a lot of headaches dealing with various Texas dealers. It's a bit silly that I ended up going halfway across the country to get a fair, no-nonsense deal.

I just signed a deal for a 550m. MSRP was 82k.  It was last day of the month and it was late. 36/15k lease. Sales tax was 6.875 percent.  I got it for 750 a month wth 3k drive off including everything.   I pick it up tomorrow.  What's your take on the deal.  I qualify for loyalty, fleet and holiday cash.

What are your thoughts on this offer? Should the payment price be determined after deducting the upfront money? Thanks

    MSRP = $ 70, 635.00
    Selling price = $ 65544.83
    Rebates = $ 4,000.00
    ------------------------------------------------
Selling price after rebates $ 61,544.83
    Cap Cost reduction $ 1, 000.00
    ------------------------------------------------
Cap Cost to the bank = $ 60,544.83

    Residual 60% = $ 42381.00
    Money Factor .00152

    Upfront money = $ 5,254.48 + plates
    --------------------------------------------------
    Cap cost Reduction $ 60, 544.83
    Residual $ 42, 381.00
    -----------------
    $ 18, 163.83 / $ 504.55

    Interest : 60,544.83 + 42381.00 = $ 102,925.83 x .00152 = $ 156.45

    Cap cost 504.55
    Interest 156.45
    -------------
    Payment 661.00
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Upfront money = $ 5,254.48 + plates
    --------------------------------------------------
    Cap Cost of $1000.00
    Sales Tax = $ 2570.99
    Bank fee = $925.00
    Doc fee = $ 75.00
NY state Tire fee = 12.50
    NY state Inspection = $ 10.00
    1st payment = $ 661.00

    661.00 x 35(payments) = $23, 135.00 + $ 5254.48 = $ 28, 389.48

    Hello atxc512,
I'm in Austin as well and have been checking with various TX dealers, but I never considered going out of state to get a lease, can you share with me the deal you got and where you went to get it ?

I agree with the math, $661/mo.

The upfront money is likely the taxes and fees, no cap reduction.

    Fellow Experts:

Working on a 540xi and looking for some feedback. Let me know your thoughts:

    MSRP 71750
    Price: 66,500 (7% off)
Incentives 4,000 (loyalty & holiday incentive)
    Buy Rate .00152 @ 60%
    3 years/12k
    Doc fee: 454
    Acq. fee: 925

Total Price of car post incentives: 62,500 (13% off)
    Monthly: 776/month
0 down (inception, tags, dmv only)
    1,000 CCA Rebate

No MSDs yet (they are available since I formerly had MSDs in my last lease) Any idea what reduction per MSD?

    Thoughts? Anywhere I can improve?

Can you please give me the 24 month residual and money factor for a 2018 M550IX for 10k, 12k and 15k Miles for December?

Also, does BMW have 27 or 30 month leases, if so, please give me the residual on it.

    Many thanks in advance.

Per MSD reduction is now just .00005 instead of .00007

With your prices, I get $701/mo plus tax.

Been working on getting into a 2018 540i in TX. From what I gather here, MF should be .00152 and residual of 61% for a 36/10, correct?

Also, regarding the Pull Ahead Program. Called BMW FS and was basically told it's a "waiver" of the final up to 3 payments on my 2015 535i.

The dealer I'm working with is trying to tell me I have to "trade in" my car to have access to this program. I'm waiting for clarification, but it sounds like they are going to try and hold me liable for any difference between the appraisal value and whatever their book value is. Do you have any info on this program?

And maybe I'm missing something, but this offer sheet makes no sense to me other than they must have the MF through the roof? Salesman is trying to tell me that I'm paying $59216.80 plus TT&L for the car.

The tax difference is due to a Texas tax credit I believe. (But it also may be that they are "trading in" my current lease and therefore only charging me tax on the difference?)

I think they are just scamming me, but I'm not sure. Payments are at the bottom with 0, 1500 or 3000 out of pocket at signing. Seems way high and I don't see where the supposed other "$3500 rebate" is being taken off. If the 3500 is taken of the "AutoNation Price", then I think the payments should be about $100 less per month than listed.

I confirm the MF and residual as stated. There is also $2000 lease credit.

Yes, the final three payments are waived. Trade and book values are not relevant.

You'll have to ask the dealer about the incentive - it may be included in the $4K off sticker price already, which means the actual dealer discount is miniscule. You want to target 7% off MSRP, before incentives.

Also, ask them to provide the 'adjusted cap cost', as I don't see reference to the BMW acquisition fee of $925.

Salesmen say a lot of things, but if it isn't backed up with the paperwork, I'd be dubious, too.

Keeping pushing, politely, for the information you need to make an informed decision.

Thanks. The $4K off the sticker is 6% of the MSRP and that has the $925 acquisition already in the "vehicle price". He's telling me the $3500 in other incentives are elsewhere, I just don't see them ($2000 lease credit and I'm part of the corporate fleet program which gives another $1000....not sure where the supposed other $500 is coming from)

I get the sneaking suspicion that they are 'trading' this car in and not putting me in the pull ahead. That's why the tax shows what it does. Otherwise in Texas I believe they tax the whole car even on a lease.

Will ask for the adjusted CAP cost. I think my salesman is about sick of dealing with me as he isn't happy he's not going to make an extra couple thousand off me.

You don't see those items, because it's a purchase quote.

Is the residual percentage calculated on the MSRP or the final negotiated selling price? I've read it both ways.
