    Yes... the tax is remitted upfront, though you can always roll that amount into the CAP cost (effectively, re-taxing it, as Indiana taxes the monthly payment)

    Hi Michael- Are you able to tell me if the following is a good deal in Massachusetts (registering in Rhode Island):
    Kia Sorento SX w/ Advanced Technology Package
    - Gross Cap Cost = $42,025
    - Cap Cost Reduction = $9452
    - Adj. Cap Cost = $32,572.50
    - Residual Value = $22,386.45
    - Rent Charge = $3,878.07
    - Total of base monthly payments = $14,064.12
    - 36 month lease / 12k miles
    - Monthly = $418.02 ($390.67 + $27.35 sales/use taxes)
    - Rebates / Noncash Credits = $8060 ($7,560 cash lease + $500 President's Day rebate)
    - Due at signing = $1,908 based on $418.02 (1st mos pmnt) + $175 (lic, title & reg) + $650 (acq fee) + $389 (DOC fee)

    Please note, I thought it would be smart to avoid rolling in Lic, title, reg, acq & doc fees and pay at signing since it would save me @$150 over 36 months in interest fees - is this correct?

    I agree with the math on the dealer quote.

    We would recommend adding the acquisition and doc fees to the cap cost - if the car is stolen or totaled, you would lose that up front money.

    Only way to improve on the payment is to get a lower selling price.

    If you prepay those charges and the car is totaled, you don't get it back from the insurance company.

    If you add those costs to the monthly payment, you pay as you go. Acquisition fee is $650, if the lease is terminated after 18 months, you've only paid $325.

    Hi,

    I want to know if the cash incentive would affect the room for the discount for the selling price?

    For example, the MSRP is $33,500 (LX AWD with Convenience package), the cash incentive is $6,260, and the average selling price for the vehicle from a price comparison website is $4,000 off the MSRP.

    In this case, do you think expecting the $4,000 discount is realistic? Or should I expect much lower discount because of the big cash incentive?

    I would very much appreciate your thought.

    I don't know how the website calculates their numbers, or whether that includes a purchase incentive that isn't compatible with the lease.

    Thanks for your quick response. I am looking at the the Sorento and the Santa Fe. In the end it will likely just come down to price. But, since I don't have much experience with this, would you say the big "lease cash" that Kia is offering will reduce the likelihood of them doing much negotiating on the "Purchase Price"?

    No.. shouldn't make any difference, that way.

    The big lease cash is to offset the very high money factor. Why they've chosen to do it that way is a matter for the accountants. Most banks have a lower money factor and less lease cash. It's all designed to hit a target lease payment that will sell cars.
