I can't figure out how the come up with 729. Can someone do the math for me- I am retarded when trying to figure it out. I gave the numbers in another post.

This is from dealer. They gave me these #'s

    39 month/15k miles
    Money factor .0013
    Residual Value .54
    Incentives $3000
Fees $995.00 bank fee, $436.50 other
    Taxes $2452.27
    Adjusted cap cost $52465.80

Due at signing: $887.28, which is the $729.00 plus $158.28 in DMV fees

    $729 month

Dealer told me 30 month is not available. I am talking to every dealer on Long Island and Queens. All act like they don't need the business and they won't budge so I told them all I will wait until the price is right.

They also told me the bank fee is not inflated and that I am not correct.

So just another full of crap dealer.

Do the #'s they gave me add up to $729 month. I keep trying to figure it out and get a different amount every time.
    What is the MSRP?

    $60,805

    john and exm,
You may want to try dealerships in New Jersey. Check for a Volvo dealership on route 17 in Paramus and Ramsey. As above your lease payment should be less than $729. Are your taxes correct that the dealer told you?

If you buy a car in Jersey, can you have it serviced on LI for no charge (maintenance free for 4 years)?

good question. If you can I would start talking to Jersey dealers
Yes, where you buy the car and where you have it serviced do not have to be the same dealer.
I understand. Volvo offers free maintenance, so I guess that's not dealer-limited?

    john2022,
Two Volvo dealers. One in Englewood and another in Ramsey. Make a deal here, they do the lease for NY and service it at your local dealer.

You can buy the car in Hawaii and have it serviced at any Volvo dealership.

Either the cap cost is higher than you've given me, or the MF is marked up. Those are the two variables in a lease.

    john2022,
I have not been to these dealers. I lived in the NY in the past and had a few leased cars that originated in New Jersey Dealerships. I am familiar with automotive groups along the route 17 corridor. I would look at there web site and see what is in stock. If interested in a vehicle, inquire through there web site. You will get a response from an internet manager. Now some of the internet managers have limited resources and knowledge. They will often but you with one of the sales managers. Please know your number as this will help in getting a manager that you can deal with directly. DO NOT drive to the dealership until you have a deal you are comfortable in place and in writing. I would have numbers on at least 2 vehicles as one may drive better than the other. Make sure deal is contingent on you driving the vehicle first. You can due a lot of paperwork from your office or home prior to going to the dealership.
  • john2022john2022 Member Posts: 57
What is the sales tax based off? The MSRP or the monthly base price. Every dealer must have 729 as a starting number and act like it is best they can do. Im arguing with 3 different dealers and when I ask them to just show me your math(I sent mine) to make me understand how you are getting 729 and I am getting way different number and none will do it. It is a real shame us as consumers have to deal with so many unscrupulous dealers.

    Hello,
Taking delivery of my '18 XC90 T8 Rdesign this month, and am looking for feedback, and to share our deal. I was guaranteed the below incentives/pricing unless, upon delivery, more favorable terms were available. Lake County, IL. Having trouble matching their tax calculation. Please let me know if the numbers work for you, and if December incentives/rates are better. Is this a good deal?

    MSRP $75,915
    Volvo allowance -5,000
    Aplan Discount -3,995
Rebate -6,252 (tax credit of -5,002 and -1,250 in Aplan elite bonus)
    Adjusted Price $60,668
    Taxable Fees +916 (+695 acquisition, 95 title, 126 registration & electronic filing)
    Doc Fee +172.15
Tax +2,784 (should be 7.25%...is this correct?)
Non Tax Fees +15 (new car tax in Lake County)
    Net price $64,555.15

    36 months/12K miles monthly lease payment $888
    Money factor 0.00195
    Residual 52%

$0 down. Paid 1st month plus fees (county fee, electronic filing, doc fee, title) already. $1,295.52 total.

    Thanks!
The $5000 allowance and $5002 rebate are likely taxable. So, taking the tax out of the payments results in ($811 X 36) + $5000 +$5002. Multiply that by the tax rate, and it's pretty close.
Great thanks. Does this seem like a good deal for this vehicle? What are December incentives and MF? Think there's room to negotiate more?
Can I please get the base mf and residual for 2018 T8 Rdesign for 36/12k in Lake County, IL?

John, I ran the numbers in my spreadsheet. It looks like there's about a $1,500 difference between the adjusted cap cost and the ones the dealer is using. In other words, they are not including the fees in the adjusted cap cost which explains why $680 becomes $729. Folks here can confirm that all fees should be part of adjust cap cost.

Bottom-line is that the dealers are not providing you with true numbers. I might venture to NJ if I can get a better deal and/or more honest dealers.

Thanks. I'll contact Volvo Ramsey and see what they offer. So the NJ dealer will make sure that my car is registered in NY? So all DMV and lease paperwork is done?

    john2022,
Plenty of people will buy/lease in neighboring states. Work out the deal, you get registered in NY and pay NY taxes. Know your numbers ahead of time. The tax is based on depreciation charge and finance charge. You pay taxes only on the portion you use.

I am unable to get base mf on my deal. Dealer is saying that my rate (0.00195) is the best they can do because "they need to make money somewhere." Do I just need to push harder? Any advice on how to get base mf? Btw this car was ordered, not something they had in inventory, and has A Plan pricing - does that equal less negotiating power? Thanks!

Here are some lease work sheets with another dealer before negotiations. They all have same starting numbers. Anything look off in there. They are for xc90 and xc60.

2 things I do not see are the dealer incentives(3k I think they offer?) and they marked up bank fee to 995?

@tpgear50 Yes, custom ordering a car leaves you with less leverage. On any car deal, you have to be willing to walk away, to get the best deal.

So with the lease work sheet they sent to get price down the sales price needs to be negotiated lower. Looks like they just took off incentives and no other discounted pricing. The $300 mark up is only 8 bucks. Price seem very high to me.

    Money factor .0013
    Residual Value .54
    Incentives $3000
Fees $995.00 bank fee, $436.50 other
    Taxes $2452.27
    Adjusted cap cost $52465.80

Due at signing: $887.28, which is the $729.00 plus $158.28 in DMV fees

    $729 month

John, I ran the numbers in my spreadsheet. It looks like there's about a $1,500 difference between the adjusted cap cost and the ones the dealer is using. In other words, they are not including the fees in the adjusted cap cost which explains why $680 becomes $729. Folks here can confirm that all fees should be part of adjust cap cost.

Bottom-line is that the dealers are not providing you with true numbers. I might venture to NJ if I can get a better deal and/or more honest dealers.

Can someone let me know if he is correct above about how fee's should be included in adj cap and it is a way for dealer to mark up lease monthly

    john2022,
You can ask a dealer when they figure out a lease to include aquisition fee, dealer fee, and DMV fees. You then only pay 1st month payment. The money factor and aquisition fee can both be marked up. Dealer fee is all profit. Usually you can get a cap cost which is close to or even below invoice. Then take off $3,000 lease cash from that number. Dealer than will add into that number the above fees to come to an adjusted cap cost.

Here are some lease work sheets with another dealer before negotiations. They all have same starting numbers. Anything look off in there. They are for xc90 and xc60.

2 things I do not see are the dealer incentives(3k I think they offer?) and they marked up bank fee to 995?

Can someone explain how the NY $2,441.44 sales tax (8.625%) is calculated?

Looking at the 2018 XC90 Inscription T6 in PA. Looks like MSRP is $60,140

What is the RV and MF for 15k for 30/36/39 months?

What are all of the potential incentives?

    Thank you!

Hi, what's the NY LI December MF / RV for:
    T6 AWD MOM
    T6 AWD INS

    36/7.5k and 36/10k.

    Thanks.

    36/10. Add 1% for 7.5K
MOM: .00130 MF and 59% residual
INSC: .00120 MF and 56% residual

    $3000 HSE Allowance
What's the residual for 39 months for 10k/7.5k MOM/INS? I assume the MF stays the same.

So with the lease work sheet they sent to get price down the sales price needs to be negotiated lower. Looks like they just took off incentives and no other discounted pricing. The $300 mark up is only 8 bucks. Price seem very high to me.

The discount on the XC90 is a little over $7400. With $3000 of incentives, the discount is still over $4400.

    .00161 MF and 56% residual for 39/12
If I use your MSRP and CAP, I get $612/mo.
And, I show a total rent charge of $4904.
That would leave me to believe the money factor is marked up, but that would only be enough to add about $13/mo, leaving another $25/mo. to account for.

Your CAP cost is about $4000 over the sale price. Do you have a breakdown of what went into that?

Offer sheet LOL. You have to ask these guys 10 times for information. Getting an offer sheet is next near impossible.

Went to Glen Cove 6 months ago and had a decent guy but the price was high. Asked for the sheet, he said it has his letterhead and I said fine, cut the letterhead info off of it with scissors and they declined. Made a "deal" for a swap that never came through on a VW Atlas and I'm giving up and going back to the XC90. Long Island is awful for dealers so I'm guessing they are doing so well as businesses to act this way. Remember though Glen Cove is in an area with wealthy people and the last thing they want is an educated buyer.

I get the same feeling at all the LI Volvo dealers. Like they don't need to negotiate. I am patient and will wait them all out. Eventually one will be ready to make a deal. They all act like giving a lease offer sheet is agains the law, I can't even believe Glen Cove sent me one.

    john2022,
Based on the numbers myself and others have gotten, your deal is not bad. The $729 they told you means you are giving them about $1560 back. Your discount is only about $2800. The $3000 is incentive from Volvo. Certain markets are difficult in negotiating as you have other customers willing to pay what the dealer wants. See the dealers side, they have a vehicle that they can make more money on.as they have a captive audience. Why should they negotiate with you. Try NJ dealers. I also know someone in NJ who does leasing who I use to use when I lived in NY. His name is Chet Friedman with executive leasing as he may be able to help you.

I totally understand. Just they way they go about it puts me off. I'll keep trying. Going to try Prestige and Ramsey Volvo in Jersey.

    Okay.. first payment rolled in.
I get the same math, now.

    The only items of note:
Acquisition fee is marked up by $300
Money factor is marked up to .00181 from .00161 base.
Those two items add about $23.50/mo. to the payment.

Given the same MSRP, which is a better lease based on MF and RV, 39/12k or 36/12k?
    2018 XC90 T5 AWD MOM or 2018 XC90 T6 MOM?
Please provide the MF and RV as well, thanks in advance!
