    Hi,
I went to the dealer and got this quote this morning, I told the sales person that I wanted to pay upfront only first month and registration fees. He told me he applied the 2k discount and maybe he could take a little bit more off the price.
Do the numbers look right and how much negotiating room do I have in your opinion?

    I live in Southern California

    BMW X1 2018
    MSRP 35445 10/36

Thanks a lot, you guys are great!!

There is a $2000 lease credit (rebate) on this model.
Is it $2891 due from you at lease signing? Or, is it just $891, with the $2000 rebate covering the rest?

Yes, $891 should be first month and dmv fees.

    I don't see any issues.
$912 of the $2000 is going to CAP reduction.
The other $1088? $925 acquisition fee + upfront tax (on the CAP reduction and acq.fee).
    Seems about right.

That's a 5% discount, before the rebate. Might be a little more room there, but not much... especially on a fairly low priced unit.

What is the residual and MF for a 2018 X1 at 10K/12K for 36 months in NY / NJ? Also, are there any incentives? Thanks!

.00152 MF and 58% residual is correct.
    $2000 lease credit.

With that adjusted CAP, I get $522/mo.+tax.

You need to understand how they got from the selling price to the adjusted CAP.

    Hello,
I would like you guys to give me an opinion on this quote:

BMW X1 2018 sdrive FWD Convenience Package and Dakota Leather Seats
    MSRP $39,395
    Selling Price $34,888.66
    Rebate $2000
    Upfront $857
    MONEY FACTOR .001520
    RESIDUAL 59%

    10/36 $416.49
    12/36 $432
    Sales tax included

They didn't want to show me how they got to that selling price, but I am supposed to put down only $857 for first month and DMV fees, everything else is rolled into the monthly payment.

I live in California and I am a first time buyer(they don't know that yet), another sales person told me that because of that I would have to put a 10% down payment, no matter what. He told me that the $2000 dollar rebate goes towards the down payment also!

    - Could you please tell me if that's a good deal and how much the payment would be if I had to put down the down payment? I don't want them to play with numbers and maybe mark up the final monthly payment
    - Would it be better to put down a security deposit instead of the down payment (cap reduction)?

    P.S.
In the first emails exchanged they quoted me (for the same car) a different selling price but the same monthly payment and they somehow told me that the residual value would be 61%

    MSRP-$39,395
    ADJUSTED CAP COST-$34,520
    MONEY FACTOR .001520
    RESIDUAL 61%
    DISCOUNTS/REBATES/INCENTIVES $2,000

    Aquisition Fee $$925
    Doc Fee $80
    License Fee $231
    Title Tax $7
    Doc Tax $7.60
    Cap Reduction Tax$190
    Smog Abatement $20
    Electronic Filing Fee $29
    Reg Fee $81
    County Fire $11

The residual will be different based on how many miles the lease is written for.

    .00152 and 58% (36/12) or 59% (36/10).

We prefer that you roll everything into the payment, except for the government fees.

Depending on how much credit history you have, there may be a requirement for more up front cash.

What payment were you quoted from the dealer?

How did you get to $366/mo?

Hello and thank you in advance for your feedback, what are your thoughts on this offer and what is the monthly you get when calculating, rolling taxes and tags providing just the first months payment?

    2018 X1
    x281

    36months/36k miles

    Msrp - $40345
    Sale Price $35140 - $2000 cash rebate = 33140
    Money Factor .00192
    Virginia Taxes 2126
New Tags 357 - Tis seems really high?
    Residual 23400

These are more numbers given when asked for the cap cost...

The net Cap cost is $36,847

    GRS 36721 + TAX 2126.34 - REDUCTION 2000 = 36847

Thanks in advance, this is easily the best resource for getting accurate car purchasing info. I have used this feature 4 times and had amazing results from your help. TY

MF is marked up - base rate is .00152.

Where is the $925 acquisition fee in all of this?

How does the dealer get to the GRS of $36,721 from the selling price, less rebate, of $33,140?

    Thanks MIchael,

I have sent him an email to clarify those questions. What do you think of the tag fee, does that seem high? Thanks,

I can't speak to that - you should be able to check the state website to get a sense of what they should run.

    Hi Michaell,

This is where we are, I appreciate your feedback. The payment seems off as well as the cap cost...What do you think?

While I agree with the math on that worksheet, I do have a couple of questions for you to ask the dealer:

    1. What is the breakdown of the $1931 of "Est Fees/Term"? (i'm guessing the $925 acquisition fee is here, but what else?)
    2. What makes up the $1581 difference between the "Price" and the "Grs Cap Cost"?

The payment is correct, given the numbers.

The only question? How did you get from $35,140 to $36,721.

    $925 acq.fee
    $299 doc fee
    $357 government fee

    I believe that adds up.

Lease taxes are high in Maryland. About $62/mo. of your payment.
Nothing you can do about that.

    Thanks KYFDX,

it should be titled in Virginia, so I will get that changed and then the only question for the dealer is the extra $1931? Does that sound right.

    Thanks again guys!

Right - as we've managed to explain the up front cash already, we need to understand the difference in prices.

There is no extra $1931. That's one of those line items that are for informational purposes only. Estimated fees you'll pay over the term of the lease. It's a truth in lending disclosure, and it's not part of the calculation.

I'm pretty sure if you go back and read my last response, all charges were detailed there. No missing numbers.

VA tax should be $600-$650 less.. That should save $17/mo. or so.
Why would they quote MD tax, if you don't live in MD?

I leased a BMW from Tischer in 2011.

What is current MF and RV for 2018 xdrive 28i 36/10 in CT? Will they write for <10k (I would not expect to put more than 7.5k on per year)?

Ask for the breakdown of the "non tax fees" - I'd guess the $925 acquisition fee is there, but what else?

Second, you are only getting about 4.5% off sticker (before incentives) - shoot for 7% (about $38,500, or $37,000 after incentives)

Last, ask what's included in the drive off amount - we recommend you limit it to just first payment and registration costs.
