By waiting a few months, you probably have little to lose and a LOT to gain. Prices will be lower, 2007 models will eventually be arriving (lowering the prices on the '06s). Most importantly, Toyota has a second/overflow plant for the new IS (Kyushu) in addition to the current Tahara plant (where I believe the GS/LS are also manufactured). I'm not sure if Kyushu is making ISes yet, but when it does start, you can expect supply to at least meet (if not exceed) demand.
I also suspect that Lexus dealers are far more interested in selling out their inventory of RX330s, and ES330s than the new IS. The ES is going to be completely redesigned, while the RX will be getting a 3.5L engine for '07, and will probably become the RX350. Why make a deal on the IS (which is a hot car, and will be easy to sell above invoice for the forseable future), when you have 2 models that you need to clear out, and will be much more difficult to move once the updated versions arrive.
Hope this info helps those of you looking! I've gotten a lot from this site in my search. I think I'll be driving a few hours to get the $2,000 off... any opinions or advice?
My local dealers won't beat my price of $2,000 off, they won't budge from $1,000 even after I told them of my better offer. They are trying to sell me on the service they will offer after the sale, ie loaner vehicles, free oil change that I can't get from a dealer several hours away.
I'm selling my car to a 3rd party, and hoped to do that at the dealer's place to save on sales tax with a courtesy trade. I found it impossible to get even close to fair value with a dealer trade-in.
I am waiting until ES350 come out "AND" the updated 07 G35 out late fall(I think). This will make IS's pricing soft a bit but I am not sure by how much. I really like the car but just don't want to pay full MSRP.
In fact Texas in general seems to have crummy deals. I'd suggest waiting it out, there's no point in taking $500 off now, or a free spoiler/tint/service of whatever other little incentives the dealers are throwing. It won't be long until they have more cars, and then the pricing situation should change. Look at the 3-series and the GS, both sold at a premium when released, but discounts are now common.
I went out of state, $2700 off $44,929 loaded IS350. Exactly what I wanted, ready and waiting.
Not bad for a $139 airline ticket . . . I can live without the free car washes.
This would have been my 4th Lexus in 3 years from a single Dallas dealership. I may get all my future autos this way unless Dallas gets more competitive.
I'm so tired of hearing negative stuff from the Dallas metroplex dealers..... "you can't have it that way" "it doesn't come that way" "it's never gonna come that way" "take it like this or forget it". I was really getting depressed today after hearing "no" so many times! I emailed a dealership in Oklahoma City and while their prices weren't that great, at least the guy had a "can do" attitude!
By the way, how long have you had your 350, and do you love it????????
Thanks, Frustrated in Dallas
Here is the information that you requested. This is all based on a credit rating of 690.
MSRP $33,019
Selling price is $31,019
Residule .61%
MF .00265
Total Inception money required at signing $1,411.14
Term is 36 Months with 12 miles/year
Monthly Payments $459.00 + 6% sales tax
This was my first quote. What do you think???
What you are looking for is almost exactly the quote I have, $33,618 for base AWD + preferred accessory package + spoiler. They also promised delivery by mid-March for the color combo I wanted (black/cashmere), so I think I'm pretty happy with this. There's always someone with a better deal out there, but I don't want to spend any more of my time looking for another few bucks off. At least that is what I'm trying to convince myself!
Good luck!
I'd like to know more about where you got that deal as well. Thanks.
I'd also suggest that some people try the dealership in Austin. They had a MUCH better attitude than the Dallas dealers. Incidentally, even if you didn't buy your car from the dealership, they'll still wash it for free when you get it serviced there (like oil changes or whatever).
Fast forward a few months to April/May, the new "hottest sellers" will be the all-new ES and updated RX, potentially making it easier to score a deal on an IS. Maybe flawed logic, but I don't think prices will go any higher on the IS than they are right now (not talking about MSRP, but rather dealer discounts). Some areas have great deals, while others just don't. Texas seems to be one of the areas with less competition.
Oh, and Bewitz, I did check the guys on the SW Freeway. You, my friend, are a much better negotiator than I!!
Anyone do better or have other thoughts?
I believe that Bewitz mentioned he went out of state for his purchase, but hasn't yet told us which dealership or state he purchased from.
So he said what kind of pricing would make me buy now.
So I told him that I'd go for the IS250 RWD, Auto, Luxury Package, Preferred Accessory Package. Came to about $35,500-36,000 MSRP including destination.
Told him I'd pay $33,500 out the door (tax and license included).
He said good luck, he can't do that deal.

Thanks

I'm looking to purchase an is 250 AWD base as well and am looking at Balise, Latham NY Lexus, and a dealer in Amherst, NY. Was the 33400 out the door or pre-tax, title, reg? Did you finance and if so was it through them? My apologies in advance if any of these questions are too personal or against forum rules. Please email me direct if you are comfortable with this. Thanks for your help! New to this, but truly appreciate how informational these forums are.

= total drive off $1800

Can you a futher explain! I'm thinking of buying mine from them!
Also was ur 250 base or did it have a premium package?
THANKS! Suave Tequila
Anyway, the dealer is in Lewistown, PA if that helps you determine if the trip is worthwhile. Car has spoiler, all-weather mats, cargo net, trunk mat & wheel locks as accessories. OTD price is $35,513. My wait time is anticipated to be 1 month, which is no problem to get the colors I wanted.
Dealer has been very upfront & easy to deal with. We've mostly cooresponded via email which is easy for me. The only drawback for me is not being able to get the sales tax advantage of a courtesy trade of my old car. It's too far for me to ask the buyer of my old car to drive. Still, the deal is better than I was getting from my local dealers and the wait time is shorter.
Happy shopping.
Just wanted to run this past everyone who has purchased or priced an IS250 rwd auto in recent weeks. I just got a price for the following with the premium package only in smoky mica with the black leather listing for $33,200 and final selling price of $31,200 without taxes & title($2000 off sticker). I live in WI and called around and this was the best price I could get after quite a bit of dealing. Just wondering what you think? Overall, I test drove the 2006 325i and IS250 and went with the lexus. I am coming from driving a 2000 328ci and think the new IS drives just as good as the BMW at least up to 95% of its limit. The exterior/interior is what sold me on it. I always preferred the handling/ride of the BMW but the IS has the whole package that works for me. It is scheduled to arrive in early April......can't wait! Also, off topic, did anyone try the IS with the manual, because it was very finicky and not smooth compared to the BMW?
Anyway,
Thanks,
Brandon
I would be hesitant the get the manual, there are very few produced, and I think you'll have a harder time with resale. Most "sport-enthusiasts" who would want the manual, would buy the 350, so I still can't figure out why the manual is only offered on the 250.
Would you be able to give us the name of the dealer who quoted you that price?
