    Thanks!

    Hey,

I live in So Cal as well and am interested in the exact same car as you. I contacted Mission Viejo but got a quote about a thousand more than the one you got. Can you email the salesperson you talked to? It should be in my profile.

    Thanks

Hi: How much of a discount did you get? I ordered an IS250 RWD w/ manual transmission, prem pkg and nav from an Austin, Texas dealer and they came down $2k off MSRP. That was the best I could find in Texas.

Hi, I'm also looking for an IS250 in the Bay Area, which dealership/salesperson did you eventually buy from?

Dealership name, city & state are fine, but we don't permit info on specific salespeople (see the red lettering above the "post a message" box).

After much research (many thanks to this forum) I finally decided to go ahead with a lease on a new 2006 IS 250 AWD, preferred package, all weather mats, MSRP $35,164. I negotiated with the dealer a cap cost of $31,946. Blue Onyx with cashmere interior. The lease payments with my credit came out to around $470.49, nothing down, drive offs of $1300.

I am trying to lease the same vehicle but the best price I have gotten so far is $32,946. Where did you by the vehicle? (City , State)

Have you found and IS yet? If so where and how much?

I only opt for the preferred package (18" and accesaries)

    Price is $36,000

Thanks to this board first and it is very helpful to decide the price range. I'd like to share my experience.

I got 'IS 250 RWD' w/premium package, 18in-wheel, mats (MSRP $33954) yesterday.....I've read previous writing from you guys and decided the price about $2500 off....

Then I went to 'lexus of westminster' in beach blvd and did test drive(I love this car!!). And decided to buy one.

As usual, the dealer and I sat down and started negotiation.

He said, "what do you think about the price?"
    I said, '$3000 off' (simplified..^^)
Then he went the manager and offered $1500 off.....
    I did counteroffer $2500 off....

He came back with $2200 off....it was close to my thinking.
    I counteroffered $2354 off....done deal!!!

So, I got the car on $31600+tax+fees.
    It was ***total $2354 off***

I thought this price is not too bad. I did simplify the conversations between dealer and I. But, he was very kind and he made the deal very smooth between I and manager, I think.

And Now,I am really excited. This car is sooooooo much better than I thought. I am completely satisfied.

I hope this info. can give some ideas how to deal the price. And aftere deal, I felt I would budge off a little more. So, GOOD LUCK TO YOU !!

    HK

I asked when 2007 model come out and he said it would be this OCT. or NOV. because I was thinking to buy 2007 one.

Thanks for all who have posted helpful information to this board. I have just jumped into the process of (hopefully) buying an IS, and have been reading through the posts.

I wanted to ask anyone with experience in the DC area what it looks like in terms of discounting now. I looked at a dealer's inventory near me and see 8 IS350s, and 31 IS250s; is it safe to assume that the days of MSRP (or close) pricing from dealers are coming to an end?

Is about $2500-3K off MSRP too much to think of right now in DC?
  • hondadavehondadave Member Posts: 5
I just bought an IS250 AWD w/Lux, Nav, head lamp washers, Z1 package for 35,815. I hope this is a good deal. I had to do a lot of research, including this forum's info and went through lots of deals with a number of dealership...Consequently, the result was great. I'm happy with this price and hope this info help you guys on the search for this type of vehicle...I live in NE, and the location of the car I bought is: Watertown Lexus.....Good luck and have fun shopping.....Thanks to all of you who shared their info in this community.

Less than $1000 above invoice....that is the best deal I have heard for that package. Did you get the car already? What color?
  • vwcrushervwcrusher Member Posts: 15
    hondadave,

Wow, I test drove a car at that dealiership and they were not discounting at all. Can you share how you did it?

    Thanks
  • riemu7riemu7 Member Posts: 13
Leased it from Lexus of Ann Arbor, Michigan. What helped me was that I got a competing Lexus dealer first to offer it at $32,066. I got this on paper, and shopped around. I would hurry, because the residual dropped from 59% to 58% from March 31 to it's current value now. This little drop made a big difference in monthly payment. You would think it wouldn't, but it did. Good luck!
  • hondadavehondadave Member Posts: 5
I do think in a way I got a very good deal...I got a black on black..The car will arrive at the end of the month. Let me tell you, this forum did help me a lot through out this whole deal... Thanks again to all of our great members...

"Play around with them a little, spend some time, and never show them that they're the only dealership that you can buy from"...Anyway, there are three Lexus dealerships around my area, so I use one as a "walk away" location, and I called around, also I went online to get quotes, and showed them that I've had been shopping around and try to pick out the one that offers me the best price, at the meantime, I told them that I was looking for other brands too. Luckily, I ran into one that offers me a very close price to invoice within 1,500, I then knew that this is a good deal, I told the sale person that I want to buy this car but I was still shopping around, so she dropped it down to the actual final price at 35,815 fully loaded except Radar Dynamic Cruise Control(msrp 39,900, invoice 35,315)...Game over...The magic word that I used was "shop around"...hahaha
Hey man go out there and play with them be patient and I'm sure you can do the same thing too....(This forum help save me so much money, "thank you" everyone for sharing info that help me)....Good luck and have fun......

Want to buy a IS 350, premium package with additional options, no NAV. The MSRP was $38,243. The first dealer I went to said he could only give me $1,000 off because tge car is in such demand, and we have to wait for the next magical allocation. Then he never called when he said he would, so I took my business to a different dealer. Much better experience, called me right back when he said he would, and the IS350 I want will be arriving in less than 2 weeks. But he also would only give me $1,000 off the MSRP. "Very high demand and we don't get many". After doing some research on this site (great information), the invoice price is about $4,500 less than MSRP, so seems I still should be able to do more. I suspect if I go back to the dealer for more discount I would get the same BS as others...i.e., "I have no doubt I can sell this car for full MSRP....plenty of buyers waiting." The lease terms sound crappy too...00275 money factor, 36 months, 36K miles, residual $22,940...$606 per month.

Would love to know Car Man's thoughts on the above and anyone else's.

I don't know where you live but I live in the metro Atlanta area and apparently $1000 off the MSRP is the best I can get around here. The situation in Atlanta is that there are 4 Lexus dealers (actually 2, 2 Hannesey and 2 Nalley). The first dealer I went to is Hannesey and they only offered $500 off MSRP. I think that's BS so I went to the other dealer (Nalley). This time I contact the dealer through internet and their internet sales manager called me back said he can offer $1000 off MSRP which is $36,000 (I only opt for the preferred package which is the 18" wheels plus accessaries).

Apparently $1000 off is the best he is willing to do because when I tried to negociate for more he just simply said they are not getting enough for them to offer more discount. Although he told me that if I choose the IS 250 he can do better than $1000 off. I know that the deal I get is probably not the best out there but at least it's better than the TMV price shown here in Edmund's (provide that this is reliable).

    Hope this helps...

Bought an IS 350, Tungsten Pearl with black interior, almost fully loaded: lux package with NAV only, no audio upgrade (ML) and no dynamic radar cruise control. MSPR $42,200, paid $40,000 before tax and fees. :)

Good luck and have fun with the car! :D
  • chiefrockerchiefrocker Member Posts: 7
I am picking up my IS350 on Friday it is also Tungsten Pearl with black interior and almost fully loaded. The MSRP was $43,5?? and I was able to negotiate $42,700 out the door! I brought in the consumer report which had the invoice price and invoice price on all the options. I told them that I would pay invoice plus $2,000 and nothing more, and they agreed. I live in MD and state taxes are 5%. I purchased it from Lexus of Silver Spring MD if anyone is interested. I am going through my bank for financing, so that had nothing to do with the price. Good deals can be had!!

"I just bought an IS 250 with Navigation (MSRP $36,504) for $33,791. I was told by Steven's Creek Lexus (San Jose) and Serramonte Lexus (Colma) that they would accept $3,000 less than MSRP for the Smokey Granite."

Hi, thanks for the info. I was just told by Serramonte Lexus that for the same car, Smokey Granite, they wouldn't budge from MSRP!! What a bunch of car salesmen! LOL.
  • ineedanewcarineedanewcar Member Posts: 29
Thanks for the info. I am living in the South Bay and am looking for a IS 250 w/ navigation and premium ($36,504)

Hi ccc61, I'm in the exact same boat. Same car, same dealers. The lowest price that I've gotten for this package is 33,791 but not in the exterior/interior that I wanted.
I've tentatively agreed to 34,291 with Stevens Creek for a blue onyx/black. It's coming in two weeks or so.

Did you get your car yet? Maybe we should 'team up'!

you could have done better. I dont have pcs, or the ml stereo. I got 41589 and got FREE port installed XM radio. the 350 is very hard to get and is selling much better than expected which is why some salespeople saying what they are. my dealer cant get enough cars and had offers on mine even though I had a deposit on it.
  • chiefrockerchiefrocker Member Posts: 7
I think I got an awesome deal; it is over $3k off of MSRP. The MSRP was $43,589 and i got it for $40,355 before tax tags and title. Confirmed out the door price of $42,685.75 It has the luxury+18 package, park assist, preferred accessories, headlamp washer, and nav. Assuming a tax rate of 5% you are saying you got an IS 350 with the same equipment for $900 over invoice plus they threw in XM, I don't think so.

With help from this forum and specifically KMICH71 on the price, I found my Smokey Granite Mica Lexus at Lexus of Woodfield on the lot. "You caught my manager at a weak moment" the salesman said. I know he had the car on the lot for about 2 weeks which at the rate they tell you they are fleeing the lots was fortunate for me. I started by calling my local dealer in Peoria who would only come $700 off MSRP. Then I called several others in Chicago including KMICH71's dealer who sold him the car for $36878. I asked for the same price and they agreed, but they didn't have it on the lot. They wanted $500 to locate one on deposit. I called Woodfield and they had one, matching the price at Westmont Lexus. I agreed since it was within a few hundred dollars of my original offer to all of them at $36450. List was $39,919. There is pricing power in the community of buyers. Thanks to everyone's contribution here and especially to KMICH71 who was the catalyst of fairly simple negotiation and a savings of over $3K under MSRP. I probably could have done a little better had I called a few more dealers or waited a couple more weeks, but you just never know. They had one on the lot. I pick it up Friday. :)

    ineedanewcar,

yes, i got my car already, wish i had gotten your msg earlier so we could team up, but anyways, here is my info: got it for 33,259 (orig. msrp 36,504).

my advice to you: get it on the last day of the month. i just shopped around my internet offers to different dealerships online - and asked if they could beat a previous offer. at first the internet managers just ignore you, so i ignored them, but as it gets close to the end of the month, they will reply to your offers.

Just curious ineedanewcar, which dealership gave you the 33,791 offer? (That's the cheapest original offer I have heard of in this area, before I started actually shopping around offers and bargaining with the dealers. Thanks.)

Though not directly applicable, we recently leased an IS250. This was a web purchase through Edmund's get a quote from local dealers service. - Mixed results. MSRP $34309 was quoted at $32809. Base IS250 - without Navigation, but with 18 inch Wheel, Moon Roof, Spoiler, 6-CD, Ventilated seats. plus plus. Our lease was about $565/mo with first month's payment out of pocket - that's all. Keep in mind that lease has gap protection included. To me that's worth a lot if I total a brand new car. This was out of the Phoenix metro area. I felt I left a little $ on the table, but I also didn't feel like I got a porr deal per the forums. I also didn't feel like doing major haggling to save maybe $30/mo - it was raining in PHX at the time  I can give you dealer's info if you want to travel. It's really nice - RIGHT NOW, better hurry the heat is coming soon! Good luck!

    Hi ccc61,

Putnam gave me that starting offer (33,791). They were quite nice. They just didn't have the combination I wanted in stock. Where did you get the final offer from and which color combination did you get? Did you lease or buy?
  • ccc61ccc61 Member Posts: 4
i bought from putnam: smokey granite/grey interior.

one question i have for you and the other readers is: is the $45.00 document fee a legit fee or is it one of those bogus fees the dealer adds on?
  • jpe1224jpe1224 Member Posts: 1
I was wondering bwcathe who you worked with at the dealerships. I am going to be buying the same car and I want to know who will give me the deal as well as who deserves my business. Did it take long to haggle a bit or did the dealer accept the price fairly quickly? I plan to buy in about a month and any info you can give me would be helpful. Thanks!

Thought I would pass along my experience. I shopped around via internet following advice from this forum. I knew what I wanted, but was not in a hurry, so it made shopping easy. I have put down a deposit on an IS250 with Nav and Premium Package ($36504) and we agreed on $2500 off MSRP or $34000. Earlier on, I had heard that I would be paying MSRP, but after shopping around locally and on the Internet, I got this deal at Park Place in Plano. Grapevine could not match or beat that deal. My car should be in in a few weeks...this way I got exactly what I wanted.

I had similar offers but they were out of state and I would have had to deal with shipping the car, etc. Park Place dealership is down the street. I walked in with my pile of research and he was ready to deal. I also was willing to wait and had been in about 3 times to talk to the sales guy. Patience is key...don't seem too eager, go at the end of the month and be ready to walk out the door if you don't get what you want.

    Hi all,

Just completed my purchase of an IS250 AWD in glacier frost mica. Options are Nav system, Luxury package and Preferred accessories package. Price was $37,749 out the door. MSRP was $39,824. I basically talked them into $3,900 off MSRP. Out-the-door price included 399 delivery and handling fee and 3.9% tax.

Basically, I started off the dialog through the internet. I let all the dealers in my area know what I was looking for and asked for a quote. I got a quote from one dealer who said he could get me at least $2,800 off the MSRP. I went there first and checked out the stock stereo (wanted ML stereo but none around) and we talked price. He stuck to his $2,800 discount along with waiving the delivery and handling charge ($299). He also said to come back to him with offers I got and he would beat or match them. I went to the next dealership with this info merely to see what price they would give me. They hemmed and hawed and it was turning into your typical negotiation hassle. They obviously didn't want me to leave, though. The offer they did make was to match the reduction from MSRP and waive their dealer handling ($399). Well, that sucked and I was going to take that offer back to the other dealer and see what he could do. They didn't want me to walk and asked me what it would take to "get me in a car today!" I told him $3,500 off MSRP and waive their $399 dealer/handling fee. He took it back to his manager and said they couldn't do it, but maybe we could find a middle ground between their original offer ($2,800 + waived D/H for $3,200 off) and the offer I made. I basically told him no, I'd rather talk to the other dealer first. As I was making my way out the door, his tag-team partner caught me and asked me about the negotiations. I told him and he suggested we find some middle ground and, once again, I said no, I'd like to talk to the other dealer. I basically said, "you wanted the number that would keep me from consulting the other dealer, and that's it". At that point, I was just in a hurry to get out the door and get home. So, the tag-team partner suggested we go back inside and discuss it. I told him, sorry, I have to get home and began walking further out the door. That's when he requested I hold up and let him talk to his manager once more. I said, Ok, I've got 1 minute, then I have to head home. That's when they came back and said it's a go.

After that whole negotiation process, I was pretty pleased with the deal. I knew in my mind what the invoice was on the equipped vehicle and used that. I also used the fact that I've read forums on IS250 purchases and that, although it may have been a hot commodity a few months ago, supply has caught up with demand.

Some may wonder why I didn't go back to the other dealer and the reason is color. I wanted the glacier frost and the other dealer only had tungsten pearl and smoky granite.

Just left the dealership and not sure if I got a good deal. The MSRP is $35,069. The upfront charges were $3100 and I said I would add an additional $2000 downpayment. Monthly payments for 48 months are 427 per month. I did not get the purchase option price. Don't know if I should be putting extra money down since I read a posting that extra money down is a waste. The total including tax after 4 years that I would be putting in is $25,169. Am I getting ripped off?
  • riemu7riemu7 Member Posts: 13
Although it's difficult to say since you didn't include the negotiated price, money factor and residual (all very important in calculating your monthly lease payments) but it sounds like you're paying too much with all of the money down, and your monthly payments. How many miles/year did you ask for?

    I got my 2006 IS250 AWD MSRP #35,164 for a negotiated price of $31,960, nothing down, $1300 in drive-offs for 36 monhts/15,000 miles for $470.

Dealers always start with "what monthly payment are you willing to go for?" This is the wrong idea. You should say, "I'm willing to pay x number above invoice for this car." Don't talk monthly payment, but you should have a number in mind based upon your credit/MF, residual, # months and cap cost.

    Hey hkhkhk,

I just went to Lexus of Westminster to purchase the IS250 RWD Auo with premium(18" and accessories) the MSRP as you mentioned is $33,954. You mentioned that you got $2,354 off but I got $2,374 off($31,580) :P

Anyways, I was thinking to buy this car(white w/ cashmere)
since they had in stock but told that I would buy it witin 2 weeks and asked if I can put a deposit to hold and the lady said that I could not, for some reason, I felt that they didn't really care if I bought it or not so I said, OK Later! Right when I left, Lexus of Cerritos contacted me and I stated that I got $31,580 from Westminster and asked if he can match it and said he would budge $300 from $31,580 ($31,280) so I am picking this car next week :)
so my total savings came down to $2,674 off MSRP and thanks for this forum, I was able to acquire all the negotiating skills! One thing for sure is not to let the dealers know that you are desperate, either way, they will contact you for your business as they have to get their #rs. Good Luck to all of you!

    ricksterq,

I'm also looking at an IS 250 AWD. Would you mind telling me which dealership you had the better experience at in Denver? I've went to Kuni Luxus and they didn't seem as willing to make a deal as Stevinson.

    Any Lexus buyers from Canada?
Looking to buy a IS250 RWD, other options not sure yet
Canadian buyers what did you pay for your car?
  • ricksterqricksterq Member Posts: 45
    yeungj1,

I ended up purchasing the car at Kuni. The internet salesperson guy I dealt with at Stevinson was very friendly and low pressure. He also recommended I go out and look and get a deal and he would match or beat it. I got the the feeling that the guys I dealt with at Kuni probably wouldn't have even thought about dealing had I not already had a deal in hand and had they not known that the Stevinson salesperson said he would match or beat any other offer. The salesperson at Kuni was visibly annoyed with the prospect of going back and forth trying to beat other dealers. They also employed some of the more typical kinds of annoying dealership tactics.

Basically, when Kuni asked me for a number that it would take to "get me into a car today", I remembered what I had read from the forums regarding pricing and pushed it a little further. Then, when they turned me down I was really set on walking and seeing what Stevinson could do. That's when they agreed to my offer. Still, though, it was an annoying experience. The only reason I went through the whole thing is because I really liked the glacier frost mica color. Had they not met my offer, though, I would've been just as happy in the smoky granite or tungsten pearl that the Stevinson dealer had.

Good luck in your search. Let me know if you need any more info.

I hear that Lexus doesn't really budge too much with leases. I am looking for a lease w/no money down except for normal inceptions, with money off the MSRP. I am trying to keep payments down to around $420. Is this doable?
  • riemu7riemu7 Member Posts: 13
    Good luck.

I leased my standard 2006 IS 250 AWD for $470, nothing down, 36 months/15,000 miles, Tier 1+ credit, MSRP $35,164, negotiated price of $31,960.

I am looking to purchase a 2006 IS 250 AWD and live in the New York metropolitan area. Could you please tell me the dealership in NJ that you leased your car from? The dealerships in my area are not really negotiable. Thank you.
  • yeungj1yeungj1 Member Posts: 5
Thanks for the reply ricksterq and congrats on your new ride!

As bad as I want the IS 250 AWD right now, I'm thinking that I should just wait a couple months for the '07 models to come out and lease an '06 then.

Also, the sales tax where I live is 8.25%! Would it make sense to rent a mailbox in a county where the sales tax is much lower and have payments calculated for that county, then later register the car back in my county?

It's not that I can't afford the car otherwise, but it's just the bargain shopper side of me coming out ;)

    Hi,

I placed a deposit on a car about a month ago. Now the car is here and the dealer has changed the out of door price by little over a grand (Says he made a mistake...). I have the option of getting the deposit back but I don't want to wait again and I want the price we agreed on. Any suggestions?
  • glenn386glenn386 Member Posts: 47
    That is a bummer.

I am not a lawyer, just been around the block a time or two.

I assume that you have a signed purchase agreement? If not you are probably out of luck.

What are the particulars...were does he say he made the mistake? Do you really think he made a mistake or are getting jobbed for more money?

Were I live the back of the purchase agreement has all the "legal outs" for the dealer spelled out. These are written by the dealers lawyers for the dealers, so the outs are many and vague.

Is there a generic out for gross errors?

If the error is in the calculation of any government fees or taxes, you are probably screwed. Most back side language and state law gives them a pass on these because they are just the collection entity for the state...you actually owe the tax on the transaction, not them.

I have the advantage of having a pretty good lawyer for a brother. This happened to me many moons ago on a 87 ford Tempo (horrible car for a young and stupid kid). The dealer agreed to sell the car for X and when I came back the next day they said they had made a mistake and the car was going to be x+$600. My brother said I would probably win If I went to court, but he advised me to just walk away and save myself the aggravation. A few days later I bought the same car at another dealer for the original price +/-.

What every you do, don't sign a new agreement at the higher price and then assume you can sue them for the difference. The second signed agreement would void the first one in almost any state (check with a lawyer in your state)

I know the price on IS's around here have actually loosened up in the last six weeks, have you checked other dealers for the price today on a similar car?

    Good Luck
