Hi, Just wondering which dealership, in the so cal area, you bought your car at. Also, how was your whole car buying experience there? Thanks.

I bought my IS from Tustin Lexus. The entire buying experience was very pleasant; no pressure. Prior to buying this car, I've visited Newport Lexus, Westminster Lexus, called Longo Lexus; all did not have a silver 350 in stock. Before making the purchase, I tested drove 3 IS 350 with different packages with the salesman. I even test drove the GS 350, but I did not like the response of the car. I like this dealer because their first priority is to find a car that the customer like. They bent over backward to please their customer before saying anything about price. I spent approximately 3 hours test driving different cars. After I have made up my mind to purchase the one with the sport package, it took us about 5 minutes to agree on the price of the car. I started the negotiation process by asking my salesman to show me the invoice. My first offer to him was $500 over the invoice, he came back and said the best he could give me is $1500 over invoice. I counter offered at $1000 over invoice. After spending a minute with his manager, he came back with his manager and ask me to split the difference (final = $1250), which I accepted. It took another 2 hours for us to do the paperwork, for them to detail the car, and for the salesman to show us the features of the car. During this whole time, we are being treated royally from start to finish. I could not have asked for more; except may be to buy the car at an even lower price.

Hi all, I have been reviewing the deals that people got in the dfw area last year in the december to remember sales event and I often saw people mention a "taste of lexus coupon" for $750, anyone know about this or where to get one, if they are offered every year etc.....

I am looking at the IS250 RWD w/o nav, premium pckage with HID, 18 inch wheels, and acessory package with MSRP near 36000......anyone know the actual invoice?

    Thanks for your help,

    I purchased my 2008 IS250 RWD + Nav, accessory pkg, 18" wheels, obsidian (blk/blk)
2 weeks ago here in SoCal after spending an entire week trying to get the best price possible.
MSRP was $38,200, I got it out the door and not a penny more for $36,840 (includes all fees and taxes).
Could someone tell me if this was a good or okay deal?

And also, my biggest regret is not being able to get the Mark Levinsons, does anyone know if my warranty voids if I get a different sound system installed?

    thanks!

Ok, did some test driving yesterday and loved the IS350. Naperville, IL. It edged out the Acura TLS. Sticker is $39,551 for Premium w/X package. Fist pass at pricing was 3% off sticker with the sales rep saying to come back in if I was actually going to purchase and the discount might be double that. Double that is $2,373 off sticker. What I've seen so far is that I should shoot for at least $3,000 off sticker. Is that about right? And my big question, am I better off pulling the trigger in December for the "event"?
Thanks so much in advance for any advice.

    Hi,

Thank for all the information. Yesterday, I got a proposal of 2008 IS250 RWD with the $6297 package(lexus website) for 32k before TTL. Is this a good deal? Sorry I really don't know much about pricing. Thanks again.

I think its a pretty good deal, its just about what I got on my deal in Miami, with the same package but I have to pay 400 for delivery charges :(

I have had bad experience with fleetrates.com people. They do :shades: business. I would be careful if I were you.
  • mannydiesmannydies Member Posts: 8
Yeah, they gave me a really good deal (better than I could find around here) but when they sent the lease papers, the dealer tried to sneak in another 1,000 in fees and tell me thats the way its supposed to be!!

The dealer and the Fleetrates guys were backtracking their story but when I called their bluff to them and told them it was bullsh*t, they changed it to perfectly match the deal we made.

I will NEVER do business with them AGAIN!!

Sounds like you got a "GREAT" deal. MSRP at $38,600 and You paid $32,000? That is lower than invoice on a brand new 08, which dealer offered you this?

Well actually a friend of mine who always buys his lexus from this dealer recommended me so I think he gave me a break. I don't feel I should mention his name but you can get the same deal at westminister lexus. a friend of mine works at a dealership near my house so his dealership offered me $37 OTD (not a penny more), so I called around with that price and westminister matched it and beat it by $200. hope that helps.
  • yvtyvt Member Posts: 8
Hi, could you suggest what package you got? Thanks.

Thank you but I am in South Florida so I was actually interested in the dealership in the Miami area.

sure. its basically IS250 RWD with nav. that automatically brings the price to $38,201 msrp. getting nav also includes HIDs, heated seats, trunk mat, bumper aplique, 18" wheels. i got mine black on black. just say that you called around and that different dealerships offered 37k all fees and taxes included. they should beat the price, and keep calling around till you bring it lowest you can, i'd recommend longo and westminister. well i sounded pretty frustrated over the phone so i think they were able to tell that i'm ready to buy from the lowest offer. good luck!

I'm a Canadian customer. Fleetrates said they had secured my car, so I sent them the money. It turns out they had not secured the car and in the mean tme the value of the dollar had changed by $2000 on my 40,000 car. If I had waited until they had actually secured the car (3 weeks later) and then paid them I would have saved this money. They had even gone as far as to send me a VIN# of the car they said they had secured, when I talked to the dealership directly they gave me a completely different VIN# and said I would have to wait an additional 10 days for the MSO to be processed which meant I had to wait another 10 days on top of the 3 weeks that had already passed since I had paid my money. I don't expect Fleetrates will give me the $2000 difference even though they were wrong in saying they had secured the orginal car. However, if they put any value on their reputation I would think they should consider compensating me for the time as well as the money. The discussion is on going, I'll have to wait and see what they will do in the end but I'm not holding my breath. I believe I will get the car but overall the experience has NOT been positive. My advive, do not pay them until you talk directly to the dealership and verify that the car is on the lot and has been positively secured.

Hi everyone, I made a deal on my IS250 RWD yesterday and this forum really helped so thought I would post the deal I received. I leased from Sewell in Dallas.

    What I got:
2008 Lexus IS250 RWD with premium pchackage (HID, AFS, 18 inch alloy wheels, ventilated/heated seats, maple interior and preferred acessory package) in granite/black combo. Also they through in window tint/pinstipe for free($395 retail). MSRP 35977

This is a 3yr/12K lease with 59% residual (20993) and money factor of 0.0027 at Tier 1 credit

    Monthly payment: 416.89

    How we got there:

    OTD cost: $33007.80
    selling price: $32,000
sales tax: $352.80 (they gave me tax credit to equal rates seen in December to Remember so instead of 6.25 it was 1.2)
Amount due at delivery: 1552.24 (includes sales tax, first months payment, aquisiton fees, T/L)
    Trade in value: $2600

    Hope this is helpful!

Does anyone have any opinion about waiting to buy an IS350 until December in hopes of getting a better price in the "December to Remember" event?
  • jvalhajvalha Member Posts: 18
So far the best I've been offered is $2,400 off sticker of $39,551. Good enough? Or should I keep trying harder?
  • qhuy00qhuy00 Member Posts: 21
what part of the country are you from?? Here in DFW, I'm also looking for an IS350 and it seems they are very hard to come by. I had to let my dealership know several weeks in advance for them to track one down. Discounts vary from one part of the country to another, California and Florida seems like they are willing to wheel and deal the most.
  • jvalhajvalha Member Posts: 18
I'm outside Chicago in the Western Suburbs. Most dealerships around me have 2- 5 in stock. Just got what could be my best deal. IS350 w/Premium+X+mats+spoiler sticker is $40,005 - Just got quoted $3,036 off sticker. Unless the other dealer is well under, this guy is getting my business.
  • mannydiesmannydies Member Posts: 8
$2400 off isn't that bad but I think most people including myself are getting around 3k off sticker, so maybe you can push for another $600.

But it also depends on your area and what the competition is around there.
  • qhuy00qhuy00 Member Posts: 21
If they've got some on the lot and are offering 3000 off MSRSP without haggling, I bet you could push for at least 3500 off. Considering that they have IS350's on the lot, you're already ahead of the game. Good luck. WIsh the market was that way here in Dallas/Ft Worth area.

Just put down a deposit on what I believe is the best deal I could get. 2008 IS350 Obsidian/Cashmere. Sticker of $39,551 and dealer is going to install spoiler. Same model from the factory stickers at $40,005. Dealer confirmed $36,100 + tax, $58.48 doc fee, $25 filing fee, and $80 plate transfer fee. Go Lexus of Woodfield!

Does anyone have any comments about the December to remember event? Do they possibly offer any extra discount or what is the promotion about? Thanks.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
When I was looking at Lexus last December, the salesman told me that the DTR deal really only amounted to about $900 incentive on an IS350. I'm starting to sound like a broken record on this next part: locate the car you want and visit the dealer on Dec 26th. It's in the middle of the slowest week at the end of the month and year. The dealer is most likely to make a deal he normally wouldn't. The dealer will be hurting because he won't have sold any cars that week and his salesmen will be standing around biting their nails and pulling their hair out wondering how they'll pay for the Christmas gifts they bought. You'll never have more leverage...

    Hi,

I’m in the market for a IS 250. I’ve been offered a 2008 RWD Auto with Premium Package, HID, AFS, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the Preferred Accessory Package (cargo net, trunk mat, and wheel locks) for $31,985 plush tax. The MSRP is $35,595. So essentially I am getting the car for $3,600 off sticker. It is the color I like (Smoky Granite/Black), and the dealer is within walking distance to my house. I also have an offer for a similarly equipped 2007 IS 250 for $30,500, but I don’t care for the color choices (Tungsten Pearl/Black leather or Breakwater Blue/Cashmere). Should I live with the 2007 color I don’t like for $1,500 less? Is the 2008 price I have been quoted a decent one? I am told by several dealers that the “December to Remember” Lexus deals have to do only with financing incentives, but I am planning to pay cash so it doesn’t matter if I wait till December. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
Just my opinion, but if you have to look at it everyday for the next few years, you ought to get the color you like. $1500 is more than offset by the one-model-year difference.

After some research and soul searching I have decided against the purchase of IS 250. I think I’ll take the money I would have spent on unreasonably costly maintenance of this car and go on nice vacations like Lexus executives. Sarcasm aside, I have decided to quench my thirst for a fast sports sedan with a 2008 Lancer Evolution as soon as I can get my hands on one. Mitsubishi is no Lexus of course, but beats Lexus in terms of warranty and maintenance hands down and those Evos are fantastic cars.

For those of you still in the market for an IS 250 in Southern Cal, the best price I could negotiate without actually visiting a Lexus dealer was at Westminster Lexus for a 2008, RWD, Auto, non-navigation model with Premium Package, HID, AFS, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the Preferred Accessory Package (cargo net, trunk mat, and wheel locks) for $31,500 plus tax. The MSRP is $35,595. In my speaking with them on the phone I could decipher that if I actually walked into the dealership I could get at least another $500 knocked off down to $31K and/or have them throw in a few minor options like satellite radio and rear spoiler. I am not sure if my plan to pay cash affected this process or not. In my experience, however, I think major dealers prefer customers who finance the car since they make money on the financing as well. I appreciate all the contributions on this forum as it helped me make up my mind. Happy Lexus hunting and best wishes

Hi, just moved to NC. Met with Lexus yesterday and I like the lexus is 250...having a hard time deciding between the manual and the automatic...but was willing to put a deposit down of $500 so they could bring in the manual from TN. They said the $500 was refundable and I could change my mind to the automatic if I wanted. However, they did complete a motor vehicle puchase agreement...
I want the starlight pearl with black interior with the premium package. They said it would take three months to order from the factory and asked if I would accept the car and let them install the wood trim and heated seats there, I just would not get the ventilated seats. They wrote on the purchase agreement that their cost for the wood trim was 600 and for the heated seats 799. So, already I just realized that this exceeds the 1290 they quoted for the premium package if I ordered from the factory, but I guess since they said they are throwing that in....I should not worry much. So, based on the manual they tell me the actual selling price for me is $31,259. and there is a tax charge of 937.00 a license fee of 124.00 and a documentation fee of 425.00 - taking the car total on a manual to $32,744.77. Is this a bad deal? They told me if they did this with an automatic...the OTD would be $35,000. Appreciate any advice...

Thanks to all the peeps for detailing their deals so its my responsibility to list my deal for others to see. I got a bang up deal on a No Nav, basic package SGM w/ black interior 2008 IS350 at Tustin Lexus (Tustin, CA) on 11/10. My options were:
    o Premium Pkg
    o HD HID headlamps
    o FT 18" wheels
o Z2 Pref Accessory pkg (mats, net, bumper applque...)
    o XM rado
    o rear spoiler
MSRP was $40-41k and change. Purchase price was $39000 OTD (8.25% tax rate) or about $100 below KBB.com invoice.
I live in San Francisco Bay Area but was at Dizzyland w/ the family, so I emailed local dealers and told them make me a deal before I fly back home. My intial goal was $1k above invoice based on past posts on this forum. I visited Westminister and Longo Lexus (El Monte). Longo had the car I wanted at $39400 OTD minus the XM and rear spoiler. At the last minute I decided to call a dealer w/in 30 minutes from home. I called an internet manager and she said they would match Longo (w/ same options) at $39500 OTD so I decided to fly back and pickup the car. A diff of $100 wasn't worth having to drive 300+ miles back to N. Cal. Long story short, Tustin called late Saturday and said they would beat the deal and throw in the 2 options (spoiler and xm radio). Factors that helped: my credit rating is in the highest teir, I agree to give 100% customer satisfaction feedback, 50% downpayment in cash, and I financed w/ the dealer. Factors that may have affected the deal: Nov is a short sales month due to holidays and dealer had excess inventory.
In the prior month I tried to get local dealers to try to touch $1k above invoice. Best deal was $2k below msrp. Sacramento Lexus was an appalling $1k below MSRP!

Took delivery on Saturday. Love that car! MSRP was $40,005 and I paid $36,100. I think I got a great deal!!!! Anyone top $3,900 below sticker?
  • cyrus1000cyrus1000 Member Posts: 12
Congrats on the new car! I was quoted $4K below sticker at Lexus of Westminster, and I think they would even go lower (I didn’t buy the car), but that was for an IS 250. I guess they’re willing to deal more on IS 250's since they have more of them?

Correction to my earlier post: Per my contract, selling price before TTL was $35662. kbb.com invoice is $35558. Delta = +$104. Good luck w/ your purchase!

Hi, I'm from bay area california and I would like to share my awesome deal buying my IS 350. Sticker price was 42,045 and I told them I want spoiler the dealer agreed to include the spoiler for 180 bucks more!! MSRP with spoiler was actually 42,405. And I bargained until 36,600+ tax. So OTD I paid 40000 even, that's like what..almost 6000 off from sticker!! anyway, i bought this in June 2007, so it's a 2007 model.

hey guys, we are lucky to like a lexus, coz the prices can be pulled down a lot!! use your negotiating skills and be patient.

I love my IS 350 so much, the nav is great, premium package is enough for me, and the spoiler looks cool isnt it? =)
  • jvalhajvalha Member Posts: 18
In response to fr332fly it was a 2008 IS350 with Premium package, X package, sport package and spoiler.
  • fr332flyfr332fly Member Posts: 3
thanks, but one more question...so how much was TDO?
  • jvalhajvalha Member Posts: 18
    TDO?
  • fr332flyfr332fly Member Posts: 3
    sorry OTD..lol
  • jvalhajvalha Member Posts: 18
Don't remember off the top of my head. Sales tax was 6.75%, plates were about $100, $25 doc fee.

But the sales price of the car was what was important to me and that was $36,100. All the other fees would be the same no matter where I bought the car.
