Just Bought an IS 250 Base model w/ Xenon Headlights and 18" tire package for $29,700. The MSRP was $34,500. I think I got a good deal since no other dealer in area would come down below $32k.
  • ahagansahagans Member Posts: 6
    is $29,700 before-tax price?
also, how did you pay for it?
  • ksilver2000ksilver2000 Member Posts: 11
Can you kindly e-mail me the name of the person you spoke with at the Coliseum dealer and how you got that price? Thanks a lot.
  • kash5kash5 Member Posts: 2
Yes, $29,700 is before Taxes. I financed it through Lexus financial and got 6.89 for 72 months. They beat Capital One and Eloan.

The forum instructions say we should not provide names of salespeople. If you would like to provide a private e-mail address, I will respond- they were good salespeople and I buy cars often and salespeople sure run the gamut!

Just bought my is 250 in Tx last wk. PT/XE package. sports tune. The only difference that i notice is the Front lip spoiler, with 5 spoke alloy wheels. Sport/metal gas/brake peddle. Door sill lighting. HID/AFS. OTD $35,500.
This car also comes with perforated ventilated/heated leather seat. rear spoiler. The only thing is NO Nav. I figure i can get the Garmin and take it with me anywhere.
I had one dealer not budging an inch even for $100 dollar so i took my business else- where and got a better deal. I also ran into some rude salesman pretending to be all nice at first then the evil comes out when dealing. I walked out. No need to put up with rude salesman. Exhaust all your options before making your decision and take your time. Just remember that you have the cash and they need to move the cars.

if you can get drive out price around $37,000 OTD would be great. Around there but $40k would be too much.

Help! My lease on my 2005 Audi A4 ends the first of February and I'm starting to gather prices and information so we can make a 'real' decision. I am between the 325xi, the IS250awd and the new C Class (not the Audi, only because of the '09 body style change).

So far all of the other makes are eager and willing to give me prices and lease rates via email but I have contacted 3 Lexus dealerships here in L.A. and they all insist I come in and test drive before they'll talk price - presumably so they can hard-sell me. Wondering if this is just the way Lexus does business or if anyone in the L.A. area has a dealer they can recommend? :confuse: I hate the hard-sell approach so much, I won't even consider buying a Lexus if this is what I have to deal with!!

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.
  • rinraleighrinraleigh Member Posts: 5
Of course if you call a dealer they will want you to come in...if you want an online price, go to an online car service....but they probably want you to drive it because for sure...once you do, you'll want it. The C class mercedes is at the bottom on every list...check your consumer reports. People buy the C class, and then they have an oil change and after $500 in service fees, they sell the car. There are more used mercedes for sale with low mileage because while no car rides smoother, no car costs more for servicing. You would be wise to check out the Lexus....they are known for customer service, and it's basically a toyota engine. As far as Audi....two of my friends have had them, they like them....but for me, I just thought thought the Lexus 08 Is 250 is a beatiful looking car....and the inside is more stylish than the Audi. Personal preference I guess...good luck. :shades:

    2008 IS 350

    Options: FT HL NV PT
    Color: Smoky Granite Mica

    MSRP: $42,425
    Buying price: $37,680
OTD: $41,165 (with tax rate 8.25%)

Through edmunds I sent my request to 5 local dealers. Got two responses that meet my spec. One gave an internet quote as $39,480. I said I expect to be around invoice number. He said by how much, I said $200 above. He said come and pick it up. We did not say what the invoice number is, a mistake on my part, more on this later.

Another dealer called. I mentioned about above invoice deal. The sales person said I could have it for invoice price, the quote given is $37,719. The cars has above options with spoiler. I selected the first one since I don't want the spoiler.

So I went to the dealer. Everything went smooth until we got to the invoice number. The sales person gave me a dealer invoice with $37,480 (which includes some dealer promotion and advertising fee etc.). With my promised $200 above invoice it was $37,680. The one in my mind was $37031 (with above options) from www.kbb.com (I was using dealer's computer to get the number to show them). After spending a long time to try to get it down without success, I went to my car and ready to leave, thinking I have another option to go to another dealer or wait for another day.

So I sit in my car for some time and thought about this:

    1. Another dealer gave me $37,719. Yes it has spoiler which I really don't want. Those two numbers are very close.

    2. This color and options are what I want. It's not easy to find the the perfect match. The fully loaded car has a lot of other options which I may not need, but they add cost a lot.

    3. The price I got is $4745 off MSRP. I feel I can live with that.

    4. I could wait to shop around during Christmas, but I may not get the right color and options I wanted.

So I went along with the dealer price.

Side Notes (if you care to read):

I asked the sales guy what I need to do for the "break-in" period, he said nothing as long as I don't drive over 100MPH. I ended up driving on the highway with 65-80MPH for 40 miles. Then later I found from the web that maybe it's better to drive with varying speeds, not exceeding 35,00rpm, not breaking hard. That's what I did after that. The manuals says not braking hard for the first ~600 miles.

I have put 700 miles on the car. The fuel efficiency I get is around 21 MPG, with ~15 miles one way to work (2-3 local miles it it). For the last tank of gas, I got 22.3 MPG.

This is a powerful car. At first I needed to watch out for the car in front of me when I merged into the highway. Or moving from the stop sign or the traffic night, the car would "leap" forward since I did not have a feeling about the gas pedal at first. Now I am used to these stuff a little bit and could drive quite smoothly. I have not tried the "power" mode (for car racing?) yet.

All in all it's a terrific car and I love it!

Sure is a fun car! And very fast! I'm almost at 400 miles on mine. Dealer didn't tell me anything not to do in the first 1,000 miles. I've come close to 100 mph a couple of times, but not over......yet.

    Hello everyone,

I have received the following lease quote from a local Lexus dealer in my area (Florida). Can I get some feedback on this from the group? I was hoping for a IS250 w/ Navigation with little to no money down and payments around $450, but this is what they sent. I'm also considering an Acura TL, which I seem to have received better pricing on (I suspect this is because of the new body coming in 2009).

    2008 Lexus IS250 RWD (6spd MT)

    Vehicle Base Model ..........................:$ 30455.00
    18" Wheel Package ...........................$ 830.00
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
    Total Accessories .................................: $ 830.00
    Destination Charge ...............................: $ 765.00
    Total .......................................: $ 32050.00

    Lease Term: 36
    Total Payment: 441.14
    Out of Pocket: 1,000.00
    MSRP: 32,050.00
    Residual: 18,589.00
    Mileage: 12,000

    Question for IS savvy folks:

My local dealer gets a limited number of option combinations on all his delivered IS vehicles:
Combo 1 . FT HL PT NV
    Combo 2. FT HL PT
    Combo 3. HL NV XE

On the 250 only, they also get this combination:
    Option 4: FT HL

On the 350 only, they also get this combination:
Option 4: VN LT (note that VN and NV are different)

Question: Is this the way all dealers are? They have 4 or 5 standard option combos that they get and that's pretty much all you can choose from?

These combinations kind of suck for me - none are exactly what I want. All I really want is one with NV and LL - am I stuck begging my dealer to special order one or if I shopped around regionally (other nearby states) might I find some with NV and LL only?

Here's the list of options I'm referencing:

    http://www.edmunds.com/apps/newtmv/TMV?path=lo&action=4&styleid=100908580

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi ! everyone,
I'm new member and I would like to know how to get a decent dealer around NJ(central or north). I've been looking online forums about my interests(I'm still confusing to choose Lexus IS 350, Infiniti G37 or Benz C300), and very close to get IS 350. Recently I got a call from Ray Catina RT1 NJ through Samsclub member Auto program( I don't know how much I can save, if I used my Sam's Club card). A sale agent called me and told me t visit their showroom, but she didn't mention about howmuch(of course). She told me that these are some choices and will give me some discount because of Sam Club member. Any ways, I would like to get some suggestions from you guys how and where I can get a decent dealer. Thanks in advanced to all.

I experienced the same packaging of options at several dealers in CT and NY. I recall three packages total. In my area the inventories are high and these are selling for invoice plus doc fee.

If you are willing to travel into CT. Try Lexus of Westport. The offer that was made to me was invoice plus $299 doc fee. The have plenty of inventory (on IS250s at least) and are very motivated. I have a contact I dealt with and I could email you the deal I was offered, email is in my profile.

My wife and I opted for the G35X, although if we...I mean she wanted the IS I would not have been disappointed.

I just bought a 2008 IS250 Automatic RWD with Black Sapphire Pearl, Tan leather,18" wheels, HID lights, Premium Package, no Nav for $33,300 OTD. Car itself before tax/fees was $30,500 which is $1,100 below the invoice price of $31,625. MSRP is $35,664 +tax/fees. Basically I got the car for $5100 below MSRP.

I think I did pretty good... any thoughts?

The car is a beauty. Black Sapphire Pearl looks black in daylight, but in dim light it's a deep sexy blue. The tanned interior looks awesome with the blue. I am loving this car!

I live in New York and just bought my IS 250 AWD from a Long Island dealer. Below is the spec:

    2008 IS 250 AWD
    - Z1 Cargo net, wheel lock, trunk mat
    - HL HID headlamps
    - NV Navigation System
    - PT Premium Package

    MSRP $39340.00

I paid $35205.00 before tax and excluding other license plate registration fee, inspection fee, and dealer application fee.

The invoice price is different at various sites. Edmund has $33607.00 (no price on Z1). kbb com has $34499.00. nadaguides com has $34404.00 . So the average invoice price is around $34500.00.

So I basically paid $805 above the invoice price with a good 5.9% rate for 24 months, currently most banks offer 6.6% or more.

Please feel free to let me know if my deal was good/acceptable or not.

    Happy New Years!!!
I'm interested in where you get IS250. Is It in NY? Would you mind to share some informations about where you got your car and who you deal with? Thank you for your time.

    Hi All,

I just purchased an IS 250.

I think I got a good deal on the car except for the 'Tires for life program' that I purchased with it. I researched on everything else before buying this car but I made a mistake on knowing nothing about the Tires for life program.

Anyway, does anyone know if Lexus dealerships would give me a refund on this.
I bought it for $1,900 and I really think its not worth it. I had my car for three weeks now. I know if you purchased an extended warranty you have 60 days to decide and they will refund you if you choose not to continue with it.

So please does anyone know and had an experience on this??? :confuse:

    Thank you.

Where did you buy your IS250 at below invoice? Do you think they would make the same type of below invoice deal for an IS350? Did you use their internet dept or a salesman?

    Hi
Just purchased IS250 for 32,100.00 out the door total. Nothing fancy. Just HID headlamps, 18 Alloy wheels with summer tires and prefered acessory pkg. Called all 9 dealers in the state and either no one wanted to negotiate, or had no IS 250 in stock. Those who did have a car had the green or almond. I wanted the Matador red and got the only one on the lot that came in that day. I don't know if I really got a good deal, but I do love my car. Red with cashmere interior., which I also wanted over black. Any opinons on my price, fire back.

    I purchased an IS350 yesterday:
    LT (Luxury Plus)
    VN (Nav+ML audio)
    LT (rear lip spoiler)
    Z1 ([non-permissible content removed] accessories)

    MSRP by my calculation: 45,619
    Purchase price: $40,995 + tax + tags

I was all ready to negotiate price and feel like I did pretty well. I was not ready for the post-sale pitch for the service agreement and extended warrantee, so I passed on both. Is the Lexus extended warrantee a good deal at under $2k?

    I LOVE THIS CAR!!
  • bogart05bogart05 Member Posts: 5
    Picked up mine yesterday afternoon.

    '08 IS250 (RWD AT) in Breakwater/Cashmere
w/NAV,HID, 18" Summer Tires, Premium Package, Accessory Package and XM.

    MSRP 38,700.00

We paid 33,540.00 OTD. We spent such an exhasting amount of time haggling and waiting to get that price, that after hour 3 or so I coudn't tell if we were getting a good deal or not.. I hope I did well, but can never tell how well until a few months later. The salesman used every single trick in the book and by the end we were so irked and tired we barely paid attention to the car walkthrough. We passed on the service, but looking at it - maybe we shouldn't have. Does anyone know if you can purchase it later?

It drives quiet and smooth and the interior is absolutely stunning. I won't be driving it for a few days since California will be a mud pit until Tuesday and this is my first RWD.

I have to say that this is a very very good deal. Did the dealer also give you the best finance rate of 5.59% for up to 60mo? or you paid it off in full?
  • ajfinoakajfinoak Member Posts: 58
Thanks for the response. I had tried to find an invoice price on Edmunds but unfortunately, they don't offer the packaging we get in CA. For example, they do not list the Premium Pkg we get many of in CA which does not have the same equipment as the Luxury Packages such as sunshade, memory seat, etc. Anybody know the invoice price of the Premium Pkg

  • applecore323applecore323 Member Posts: 41
I've driven a couple of AWDs, but the dealers here (Seattle area) haven't had any RWD 250s. I'm wondering if the handling is better due to lighter weight and just the whole RWD feel compared to the AWD. RWD is listed as faster times, gets an extra 50 miles per tank of gas, and costs less. Has anybody driven both and can offer a comparison?

I bought a used 2008 IS350/x-pkg/prem.pkg/blk-on-blk/nav from a guy for $39K (no sales tax). He just graduated from college, bought the car, and couldn't afford it anymore because he got laid off from his job. It had 2500 miles on it, so I think I got a decent deal.

Anyways, to answer your question, since the x-pkg is so rare, he ended up paying sticker for it at the dealership and his OTD price was a tad above $45K. (This is in Phoenix, AZ by the way)

If you can, go for the x-package. So far, I haven't seen ONE other 350 with the x-package wheels, and I'm in SoCal. They look much nicer than the same old ISPs you see on EVERY OTHER ISX50.

im shopping for a vehicle across the line and fleetrates.com has the best price so far can you guys recomend in getting involved with them or should i run i read the past posts and there is a lot of negative comments what do you guys think ?
  • timekeytimekey Member Posts: 4
Fleetrates.com is a classic bait and switch operator and becasue they are simply an on-line service, they are not held to the same laws as auto dealers are held. Things like false advertising.

You can negotiate an equal or even better deal on your own for a new Lexus. The reason is the Lexus brand is simply getting killed right now along with all of the other luxury brands. I heard Lexus sales in the months of Nov. and Dec. of 2007 were off by like 70% from 2006. They are starving and will make any deal within reason right now.

MSRP is $35,146 online but don't know if that includes destination. Anyhow, do you guys think it would be possible to get this car for 32K OTD? if not, what should I ask for on this car. I got till April to buy, thank you!
  • ksilver2000ksilver2000 Member Posts: 11
Thanks to all the posters on this forum, I was able to get a pretty good deal (at least I think so) on a new 2008 IS250 RWD in Breakwater Blue with grey interior.

The car was the typical 38,145 MSRP car that the bay area in CA has, with the following:
    Premium Plus package
    Navigation
    18" wheels
    HID lights
Preferred accessory package (trunk mat, wheel locks, cargo net)

We have a 8.75% tax rate. So, my final price (with 7year/100K mile, $0 deductible Platinum factory warranty) OTD was $37,000. :)
