No, I'm saying that SETF calculates residuals differently, but for the payment to work out using the number from my documents was surprising.

You really don't get anything for that $799 - if you can negotiate a lower price to offset it, more power to you.

Hello everybody,

Come here to relate my experience at a Toyota dealership of south cal this morning.

I was there for maintenance on my current Camry and since I have only one payment left on it, I thought that I should get a quote on the 2018 Camry XSE V6.

I tell the guy I'm willing to pay the usual drive off and the first numbers written are $3000 down and $475/ month for 36.000/3 year lease ($3000 for the drive off? really???)....I let it slide, I know how it works now even tho I still find it pretty irritating/insulting. I asked him a detailed quote with selling price, MF, RV etc and managed to get the price (not the MF or RV) which was $39.000. I'm chocked because in my mind, the MSRP of that car is below $36.000.

He showed me the details and that price included an anti-theft device, some kind of paint protection and a dealer mark up of $995!!!! Really???

After light negotiations, manager told me he can't go below MSRP.....sigh!

So here's my question: Is Toyota really selling the 2018 Camry XSE v6 at MSRP or even marking up the MSRP like they were selling civic type R or I just got unlucky (again)?

Hasn't the dealer heard? Nobody is buying or leasing sedans anymore.

Yeah, this is the top trim level. But, I can't imagine paying sticker price for pretty much anything, these days.

Dealers love to go for the home run quote the first time out.

Frankly, you can't drive more than 10-15 miles in any direction in SoCal and not find another Toyota dealer. Reach out via email to as many as you're willing to travel to, asking them for the detailed quote. Focus on the dealers who are transparent with their numbers.
