Haha, you'd think I was driving in snow & rain, rather than sunny hot blacktop. I just happen to like the performance of AWD.

The dealer is willing to wrap the $9500 INTO the lease at the same lease rate. i.e. As if I'm leasing at FULL MSRP. So instead of the car being discounted $9-$10k, it wouldn't be discounted. I asked them to do this as part of the deal. Here's where I'm confused... at 49% residual, in essence it'd be costing me about $125/mo, instead of $250 because I'd only be paying for half of it, right?? See my Side by Side comparison lease calculator below, the only thing different is $10k in vehicle pricing. Can't wrap my head around how that $10k is added to the total lease cost??

Regarding the $3800 in lease cash you mentioned. When I use internet pricing tools that generate quotes from three dealerships in my area, is the $3800 already part of the discount they are offering me? Or can up to $3800 be applied on top of their quoted discount? Example:



If there is still $3800 for them to play with, then I can surely be a little harder on them.

You'll have to ask the dealer how the end of lease charges are factored into their calculations.

Any chance you can get them to share their lease worksheets?

The $3800 should be part of any offer from the dealer.

No - the residuals set by the bank often have no relationship to the actual market value at lease end.

As an example, the residual value of my Jetta, according to my contract, is just under $11K. About a year into the lease I went to a different VW dealer and had them give me a trade value on it. I was quoted - surprise! - $11K. And, my car had less than 6000 miles on it at the time.

Residuals are inflated to get a reasonable payment, and, when folks realize that they would be overpaying by several thousand dollars to buy out their lease, they end up leasing again. Which is what the banks and dealers want.

The reason for asking residuals on both models, is that I found in using some of these online calculators, along with recent posts from people showing the deals they are getting, I've seen the Luxe @ 49% residual vs Red Sport @ 55% residual. If this is true, the calculators show that I would pay similar amounts in lease payments (only about $40 more for the RedSport). (remember, I have to throw back in $9500 in miles)

Better to lease luxury cars than buy them. Depreciation is huge. Plus, after 39 months, who knows what new stuff will be out there - maybe a flying car by then...

I have the following offer on a 2018 Q50 3.0t Luxe RWD (39/10k):

MSRP $44,885, discounted to $32,496.

They are quoting me ~$392 +tax a month with $1200 down. Does the monthly payment seem right? They said the MF is .00003 and RV is 50%. I wasn’t specifically told this, but I believe the dealer fee is $995 and acquisition fee is $700 based on lease ads I see on their website (not sure if it helps).
