Discount: $1947
MFR Rebate: $1480
RV: 61%
Due at signing: $750
Neg equity trade in ($2985)

$536/mo including all taxes & fees. This was all the info I was given in their quote. Will try to get them to increase trade in value, but otherwise... thoughts?

We wouldn't recommend using trade equity to buy down the payment - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost associated with that payment quote.

IL collects the sales tax up front - find out if the trade equity is paying it or if it's being added into the monthly payment.

It’s actually negative equity, as in upside down on trade in being rolled into lease. So I know the lease would technically be less without trading a car in. Taxes are already included in monthly payment.

In Mazda's case, it's a consumer rebate, in addition to the discount you negotiate. Though, expect any offer you get to already include it.

Seems high.
If I make the deductions, then add the negative equity + $1200 tax + $595 acquisition fee, I get $498/mo, using the base MF of .00047.

I agree with all of those numbers and calculations.
Tax on the downpayment and rebate is because anything paid upfront reduces the monthly payment, reducing the tax collected on that amount. You can't get out of the tax.

Negotiations are two parties coming to an agreement. We have no way knowing if the other party will agree to a lower price.

But, I don't see any issues with those deals.

Since the RV & MF is pretty fair and non-negotiable with dealer, then I guess the only thing I can negotiate is the i-plan price or any extra dealer discount to reduce the capitalized cost. When will the July-figures (RV&FM) expire? I plan to sign the deal before it expires. Thanks again

Since you pretty much know the model and trim you want, try to call other dealers close to you and ask them if they can beat that price.

I went to 3 local dealerships close to my city and the two best offers I got were basically $400 and $390 per month. The next day I called 4 dealers I was willing to travel up to 2 hours away and asked if they could beat the $390 offer. I asked for the manager who could make a decision over the phone...when the manager passed me off to a salesman to get my info I knew it wouldn't be their best offer - at first at least. Out of the 4 calls, the two bests were $375 and $365 per month. I took the $365 since it was the lowest and the manager was upfront and within 5 minutes on the phone (I had a trade-in too) he gave me his best offer that I trusted wouldn't change once he got me in the door. A couple days later a different dealer back to me at $350!

Basically if you know exactly what car you want, try to call other dealers and tell them that you are asking if they can beat an offer you already have. It helps if you are willing to drive - once I expanded my search to a bigger metropolis the dealers seemed to be more competitive. My feeling is that some dealers focus on large volume with lower markups while other dealers (maybe in smaller cities) have less volume so they have less wiggle room for profit. Anyway, it worked for me.

Hi, here is the output by using your way to negotiate. Hopefully it's helpful to whoever is looking for a lower price.
I called 7-8 dealers within the distance of 2 hours driving and gave them the best price I got from one local dealer ($403 Touring AWD+PREM/ $387 Touring AWD) to see if they could beat that price by $20. 4-5 dealers responded they could not even get to that price, the best they can do is $415-425 for w/ PREM. There was one dealer offered a price matching the best price I got but that's not enough for me to work with them because it's 1.5 hours driving distance to this dealer. I was a little bit frustrated and felt I won't be able to get a lower price. However, yesterday I got the text from the first dealer I called that they probably can beat that price by less than $20. And today we ended up the price as $390 monthly payment incl. tax and $750 due at sign incl first month payment and all other fees. Total out of my pocket is $14,400 during the entire lease period. I will sign the deal tomorrow or next Monday. I think it's a good deal after 2-3 months searching.

Leased an AWD GT with a couple of pre-installed extras - cargo mat, splash guards, wheel locks. Total MSRP $43,570. They threw in winter mats. Got what we think is a good lease deal - $445/month w/ 2k down at 12k miles a year. $1,710 loyalty/lease cash.

$1110 for Signature
36/12 residual is 53% for Signature, which, coupled with the higher MSRP, makes for a poor lease deal compared to the GT.

Hello. A dealer in Omaha, NE it telling me that the GT only has $600 lease rebate, but it seems that I've seen mention of $1680 lease cash on this thread. Is he holding that back for dealer profit? Please assist.
