No one takes responsibility for their actions any more. They shoot the messenger when they caused the problem.
I have talked with a friend of mine in the car biz and the stories he can tell. People get mad when they have messed up their own situations and then say "You do not want to help" or "you do not want to sell that car". His response is "Yes! We do want to sell that car, just not at that price."
I'd like to know how a young enlisted guy could even afford to buy a new car in the first place. Geeze, 19%? I never had a credit card with that high an interest rate! My girlfriend manages an large apartment building. You won't even qualify for an apartment with a 480 or 527 credit score. A little higher, maybe they'll rent you a place if you pay a year's rent in advance.
From what I could see he bought the car with his wife. The girl that was with him yesterday is not his wife. I don't think he's getting out of the navy, he's more than likely getting kicked out. How can you be only an e-3 after 4 years? Heck, I was an e-5 after 4 years and it was harder to make rate back then. More later.. our sales force is dropping like flies.... Mackabee
Who is in charge of keeping track of Mack's story segments and completion. :shades: Does he get a bonus mini for completing all of them during 3 months?
The MPV club that I belong to have about 100 of those little suckers to choose from. Edmunds should try to do the same.
I agree. I think allot of the conversations we had would not get so side ways if we had better emotorcons. We badly need a Laughing out loud, ha ha ha, I am just kidding, quit taking your self so seriously one.
If I take in to account the hours I work which are much more then the average person. Any where from 60-70 per week and break it down to as if I was hourly not including time and a half for over time I make around $25 PH.
That is not excessive for what we do. A good friend of mine who works for the gas company makes that running a service truck.
The difference between us and the other professions mentioned for the most part is that on Saturday and Sunday you find them at home with there wife and kids. Where we on 10:00 PM on a Saturday night are helping some chuckle head who called at 1:00 PM to ask what time we close and we told him 9:00 so he shows up at ten minutes till to buy a car.
I don't mind staying late to sell a car, and I don't mind the hours, it is my chosen profession and I knew it when I started. BUT, there is no way in hell any one is going to tell me I am paid to much for what I do. I think I am under paid. Come walk a mile in my shoes and then see what you think.
Had a customer on an XC70, gave him a really good price, he countered with a price that was really making no money. I said fine, we would take a very slim deal just to move a car. He was supposed to be in the next day, never heard from him. Called him up and he said he got a better deal elsewhere.
How can he get a better deal if there was no money to be made? did the other dealer
1. Get his car below your cost? 2. Sold at a loss?
He SAID he got a better deal, which is not that he actually got a better deal for the possible reasons you list. It could as easily mean that he wasn't a serious buyer, or not ready at the time.
You folks remember my little adventure last Saturday. I spoke with the GSM yesterday and he only got half the story so to make up for it he told me he would give me a full deal. This morning the UCM calls me to his office. One of our salespersons quit this morning so he's giving me the whole deal. I just have to deliver the car. And it's a used car with a $2000.00 front end gross and a $1700.00 back end gross. Depending on how I finish my month this could be a $500.00 commission or more as we are paid on a stair step plan. So UCM gives me a key and a "we owe" and I head out to look for the car. I walk the entire lot and can't find this puppy anywhere. I go back to prep and car is not there either. Finally I call the customer up and he has the vehicle. SWEET! He has an appointment for Monday morning to get the rear fender buffed for some scratches and minor touch up so I tell him I am now his sales person and will meet him Monday morning to introduce myself. Someone's looking out for me today! :shades: Mackabee
I'm sure I speak for jmonroe, oldfarmer and maybe 75% of the other members... but that's just to much trouble. Just throw about 20 of those squiggley suckers under the message box where the current ones are. Have a pop up link right next to it where you can access the remaining 80. Easy peasy.
That is how it works at finalgear. Only the first 10 or so smileys are on the main screen and you have to hit a pop up to access the rest. I just showed you the full list.

A little off topic, but on my drive in this morning I pull up next to a red pickup. Plastered all over the sides and back in large letters it says "THE BLIND GUY". I am still trying to figure out if he sells window coverings or if it was a warning. :shades:
I told him I didn't send them there. He said, "their credit was awful, we couldn't sell them anything."
I can't believe a salesperson in this day and age with all the privacy laws would say anything about a persons credit. Who ever that sales person was, did a totaly unproffesional thing by sharing that information with you.

Yeah...right, I go along with that (much simpler) and since you’re a member of the “I’m a favorite member of the Tidester fan club” and have a ‘T’ shirt to prove it, he should make this happen at you request.
Easy peasy.

What a big surprise! After that dialogue, now more than ever, you must be feelin' stronger every day. Glad all is well.
Now, don't forget we're all awaiting news regarding Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. Does Gina get killed off in this week's episode? Oops. Sorry. I guess I watch too much "24" and "Heroes".
Nope. Me and Tank went to Jason's Deli. We had a Club Royale and some tea. Expensive! 25 bucks for the both of us. I looked at the bill and told tank to go see the cashier. We were definitely overcharged (ADM) :shades: The server took the bill back and came back with the holdback! five dollars and some change. We did get the free floor mats though (ice cream ) Mackabee
It seems like the old days! I was taken back to my humble Beginnings and it felt like an Introduction. Maybe I'll take this weekend off and spend Saturday in the park! But then I'll just keep looking at my watch wondering if it's 25 or 6 to 4. Does anybody know what time it is? I guess the Johnson's story better end soon my friend or I might be in for a lynching. I wish Harry Truman was still president and in the country. Oh well, it's hard for me to say I'm sorry. Mackabee
If I may sum up Max's story, it appears the customer committed two sins:
1) Backed out of an agreement he made with Max. 2) Left Max hanging out to dry instead of calling to cancel.
Do you guys keep a list of people who do these sort of tricks to you? Do you take any measures to ensure a follow-up attempt, let's say 2-3 years from now, doesn't result in similar consequences? (Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?)
What a lowdown! I guess I'm not quite a true fan, what else can I say? I had to look up "In The Country" before I knew for sure I was home free. (Note: That's 3 from III!)
Better get back on topic with the Johnson's, eh? In the meantime, I better get back to my survey. I'm having some difficulty answering questions 67 & 68. :P
Not so much a sales story but a story about one of our customers.
Ok we have this young man that bought a Mustang from us who is Overseas right now in Iraq. While he is deployed he decided to have some performance modifications done on his car. So he orders by phone some headers and other stuff, and explains that he wants the parts shipped to a shop in GA. The guy ask for his billing address and he gives him his address in Iraq.
You guessed it. Two weeks later what does our young stud receive? All of the parts he ordered. They shipped the the parts to Iraq instead of the shop in GA.

I can make guesses at the rest, but I don't really remember them so I won't.
And, um, quick edit: I guess the Johnsons are real Chicago fans and that's how come this fits into your stories, right? :P
Baby what a big surprise! You got them. As long as we catch the motorboat to mars we'll stay on topic. Listen, someday the car buyer's liberation will be like a poem 58 and hit the road. So where do we go from here? You could take me back to Chicago, or I could spend another rainy day in New York city. In any case, goodbye. I'm going to check out the new Highlander 2008, I hear it comes in lots of fancy colours. Mackabee

I didn't press him for the dollar amount, but it couldn't have been more than $500.
Don't get me wrong because I'm not in favor of what the buyer did to you because he was wrong, wrong, wrong. But $500 isn't chump change in my neighborhood. I've walked away from deals where we were less than $400 apart.
Just curious, if he called you back and said he got a deal that was $300 better than your offer, would you have matched?

Back on topic, I think oldfarmer has brought up a valid concern, and it's not a little one. Listen, what's this world coming to when a buyer, searchin' so long for a spare key, discovers the dealer held onto it? No state of the union, regardless of your alma mater, will accept this type of business practice. Wake up sunshine and smell the coffee, or this type of hanky panky is gonna force you to be movin' on down the road!
Pat, you just missed out on the grand prize for guessing all 10 songs! A dinner for two at my cousin Angel's Plaza Azteca Mexican restaurant in sunny Va Beach right across from Pembroke mall! Mackabee
what's this world coming to when a buyer, searchin' so long for a spare key, discovers the dealer held onto it?
Sounds more like to me that the deal was not finished yet if Mac was looking for the car on the lot, and the UCM didn't know it was gone. Sounds like (and I acould be wrong) someone is spotted and still needs to come back and finish up the deal.
It's a used vehicle and sometimes the spare keys may be in the certification package and the salesperson forgot to give them to the customer. Me, I usually keep a set and then I print out directions to the customer's home on mapquest and stake out the place until they go to bed and then very quietly I go and take the cars for an overnight joyride. Sometimes I stay out too long and when I bring the car back to their driveway the customers are ready to go to work so I'm caught! :surprise: In that case I tell them that I had a spare key for them and did not want anybody to get a hold of it and take their vehicle joyriding without their permission. Mackabee

Sounds like when I was home from college and would stay out all night. I always brought a box of donuts home with me and would tell the folks I couldn't sleep and went to Dunkins.
What we used to do is every Saturday night the entire sales force would have to sneak over and borrow the last car they delivered that week. Then we would have the Dealership Derby Street Races. The trick was to save the hottest vehicle for your last delivery - pity the poor guy who delivered the Yugo last - he could never get it started.
It's a done deal. The UCM was off since last Friday. I called the customer and he's coming in on Monday to do the rust and dust and mop and glo. Mackabee
