Kick [non-permissible content removed]! Ok, let's put a deal together on a 911 Turbo and keep your trade out of it!

I drove a 911 Turbo today. It was one of the single greatest thrills I've experienced. What a rush!

No, you do not classify as a "cupcake". You are a FRUITcake! :P

No, you may not sit next to him. Your seat, as usual, is in the corner---with the other "smart asses". :D

As for sleep, or the lack of, I haven't been sleeping well for the last two weeks. I'm teaching a class of 33 new teachers. They are having major problems with classroom discipline and lesson presentation techniques. I'm working up demonstration lessons and discipline role-play examples, hoping to help them. They are nice, bright young people. They just lack experience. Unfortunately, the universities don't prepare them for the real world. I compare this to KBB and Edmunds not preparing me for the real world of auto sales, right? At any rate, these teachers are responsible for over 1,500 children collectively. We owe it to the parents and grandparents to give these children the best teachers possible. I'm just feeling a heavy burden right now. It will come together. It always does. :)

Put a picture up here of a 911 Turbo. I don't know what it is. Don't laugh. Who makes it? :shades: Make me a deal that I can't refuse. I could use a road trip to Georgia. :D

When you said the trade you appraised had paintwork on the rear quarter panel and that detracted from the value, was it bad (or just average paintwork) that detract the value or the fact that the car had paintwork at all?

What would you think would be fair to post?
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
Most customers looking at used vehicles usually ask if the car has been in an accident. Any paint work and the customer begins having doubts about the vehicle and almost always try to devalue the vehicle and get it for a lower price than normally it would sell for. Problems with paintwork is you can't certify the vehicle.

Yeah, I tried to remember as many of em' as possible. ;) I think being honest and trustworthy is the #1 key. To many salesman make promises they can't keep. I've learned from others it's better to say I can get this done in a few days than tomorrow if it's going to be a pinch for time. If you get it done tomorrow that is a bonus for the customer because you said a couple of days. Often people can't deliver on their promises and that really ticks off a customer.

My 2nd day on the job last week I didn't have a Vibe a customer wanted and told her I can get her one. However she and her husband who were repeat customers at our delaership were obviously pretty serious about doing business with us. They instead of waiting went down the street to a Pontiac store and they had a 2007 Vibe they bought. I followed up with her today and let her know I was still looking for her and my bosses were going to try to get one. Well that's when she told me after they left my dealership they went down the street and boy did they regret it. They said it was a total disaster buying experience. The salesman kept making promise after promise on delivering on a remote start system. It was going to be done later on Saturday, then Monday, then Tuesday, then today she got so ticked she took it and got one installed at a aftermarket store and told the dealer to cut her check.

She said "Rocky, you are a nice guy and I can tell I can trust you. I'm going to tell everyone I know to do business with you" That made me feel good. :) The moral of my story in my short life as a car salesman is have integrity. You don't have to be some slickster to sell cars. ;)

Ya those are a good looking car Mack. We often talk about if we could have some of the European entries here we would rock with them. There is a reason we enjoy success in sales leadership in Europe.

Here is one that I am real excited about. This is going to be our C-Platform car. Currently we are the only major auto maker that does not have a C-class in the market place. Great timing with gas prices what they are.

This is scheduled for the late 09 model year or early 10 model year.

    It is called a Verve.
    image

Not to crazy about the name. I had to look up what it meant, it makes sense but how many people really know what it means. But hey at least we didn't call it a Rouge.

    1. enthusiasm or vigor, as in literary or artistic work; spirit: Her latest novel lacks verve.
    2. vivaciousness; liveliness; animation: I like a teacher with plenty of verve.

She bought the LaCrosse in March 2005. I bought a 2007 Cadillac DTS Performance in November. I just don't want her to see the 2008 Cadillac CTS or she'll be wanting one.

The LaCrosse only has 28K on it and our neighbor's wife just hit it when it was parked on January 2nd. The car is drivable and all, but looks awful as there is a huge dent on the driver's door near the front fender. The woman was driving w/o a license and her husband's insurance denied the claim on account of it. We gave the guy the chance to pay for it himself, but I think he is avoiding us now. My girlfriend is just going to go through her insurance to pay for it and let the insurance companies duke it out with each other.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Don't you get tired of typing "Cadillac DTS Performance"? I think I wouldn't buy that car simply because the name is way too long. I had problems with Silverado so had to dump it for something simpler like Titan. ;)

I think that's why people don't like to buy Mitsubishi. Hard enough to pronounce and painful to type.

"I think that the big problem with that is that people have a tendency to judge what they own to be better than it is. So they may have a car thats in "fair" condition but they think its in "good" condition and put that into the system. "

the bigger problem is KBB's definition of good, fair and excellent are not at all similar to what an average person would define as good, fair or excellent.

Any new car with more then 0 miles wouldn't be considered excellent by strict KBB standards. (e.g., free of any wear, I mean come on, that's silly, a new car's condition is "New", a condition better then excellent)

I was looking at a three year old camry that I would consider excellent, so did the dealer when he printed out and showed me kelly blue book price evaluation with "excellect" as the condition of the car

You can get away with saying something like that where you live. Most places the kids would file a class action lawsuit for terroristic threatening. They'd win $1 mill each against the school system because you hurt their wittle bitty feelings.

Oh, I LOVE those long names for a car like "Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance" or "Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency." It sure beats the Alphanumeric gobbledy-[non-permissible content removed] they use these days.
  • oldfarmer50oldfarmer50 Member Posts: 24,361
"...a class action lawsuit for terroristic threatening..."

You're probably right. I guess I'll just have to do away with the witnesses. ;)

Funny you mention lawsuits. At a recent safety meeting a driver asked if she could press charges against a student who threatened to kill her and her family. She was told that she should forget it because due to the student's socio-economic status he was unable to help himself. It was his culture to make threats.

Anyway, to keep this from being deleted----I went to a domestic dealer to get some brochures and I was told I could get any car I wanted, configured just how I liked, delivered from the factory in just 3 weeks.

This was a shock. Nissan for example told me that an ordered car would be tough to get and would take 3 months or more. How come the domestics can do a better job? I'm not talking cars coming from overseas either. These were all for cars made in the US.

One funny thing, at the domestic dealer the salesman was very anxious for me to take a test drive. I told him I might do that but only when I was serious as I didn't want to waste his time joyriding,

He said "Don"t worry, that's what we're here for."

    Really?

Delivered a 911 Turbo Cab yesterday. The coolest thing was the customer is 69 years old and was just like a kid with a new toy. That is one incredible car.
  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
The fact that the car had paintwork at all. We normally don't sell those vehicles at all. It was a minor scratch on it that was touched up, but noone wants a vehicle with paintwork.

As far as posting a picture of the 911 Turbo, I think I'm going to leave that up to Mack. Or maybe I'll post a link. I'm not very good at the whole picture posting thing.

Please extend the right margin a little.

Reading text with the last 4 or 5 letters missing is
    extremely hard.

ps There is 6 inches of blank space to the right of
where you're probably going to put commercials.
    Why?
Why all the blank space and text jammed hard
    to the left?

All we're here for is text, a few pictures and a continuation of Mack's stories?

I'd rather pay admission than have to stick a
post-it over the flashing commercials. Dave

"Today I ran into a customer that couldn't get approved to finance a hamburger. She had one of the worst credit I have ever seen. 460 score with a recent repo, nothing positive on credit... even had a $7.00 collection from a pizza restaurant. But we got her approved anyways (thanks to our great F&I director). The only car on the lot that we could finance right at book was a 2006 Chevy cobalt. She wanted a brand new 2008 Honda Accord V6 with all the works. 30k dollar car. Said the cobalt looked to much like a rental. This person said I wanted to shop around. "

we've said of these people that they have perfect credit, cause they never paid anyone, and they've don't it perfectly.

THE MOOCH - A real mooch will go inside a clothing store for the "BUY ONE AND GET ONE FREE SPECIAL" on dress shirts and tell the cashier can I please just get the free one I don't need two shirts.

THE GRINDER - Will never be happy with his purchase. Even if you gave the car for free he will still complain that he has to put gas in the car.
