I haven't had any luck getting a dealer to go below 25K on Accord EX in NY. Tried the usual waiting until the end of the month but no one seems to be budging. Very frustrating.

On a separate note, should we expect there will be better incentives starting in Sept?

I feel your pain !!There is no incentive cash on the EX model so Pricing will be higher. Two PA dealerships flat out told me all of there sport models, EX , Hybrids models will not be sold below a certain price cause they are confident with limited models they will get there asking price. I think your best price is still a good deal. Your getting more than half off your model compared to others that get the $1000 incentive. I'd buy that EX if its the color u want. To save another 500 and lose your choice color is not worth the aggravation or time spent waiting and searching You may find a better deal in NJ if u could find a EX / color u like. Check the board on last couple of pages @brian125 gave me a couple of SELECT NY dealerships that were aggressive with pricing on a sport manual model , maybe they may be looking to sell there EX models cheaper . I also encountered the same problems with pricing . I called int/ mgrs., went thru dealerships websites , went to some local dealerships . Over 100 honda dealerships thru 6 states. LOL. Good luck

Regarding incentives on the EX or other models, do not expect much assistance from Honda this month. Are you set on the EX, or would you be open to other models such as the Sports or the EX-L where you might get a better discount/pricing? If you are in no rush to buy, your best bet might be to wait for the 2019 models to start arriving on dealer's lot. Then, maybe you might see better deals on the 2018s, but who knows what will happen.

    Good luck.

Not yet.  DCH Academy gave me their “Internet Price” of $28,729 which included the Dealer Loyalty Rebate.  I tried negotiating over email, but was told they wouldn’t and wanted me to come in to talk price.  Today I reached out to a dealership in Nanuet; we’ll see what they come back with.  NY Doc fee is set $75 I believe, so even if I dont get the absolute best price offer there, the OTD price may be be less as NJ Doc fee is ridiculous.

Since I’m off this entire week, I’m going to try and contact every Honda dealer within a 50 miles radius.

Just to give you some additional insight of pricing available for the 2018 Accord 1.5T Touring, I was able to buy new one with 8 miles on it on 8/31/2018 for 27,655 + TTL here in Chicagoland. To get this deal, I had to finance through Honda Finance to get the flexcash that they passed along to me. I took the 1.9% financing for 36 months and can pay off at any time.

I wasn't expecting to pull the trigger but hard to say no to 7K off sticker or a little over 4K under invoice.

There were no additional accessories on the car and I didn't trade in a car on the deal. Just had to add the the taxes, dealer standard doc fee in IL, $175 and license and title fees to get the OTD number.

One of my easiest car purchase experiences ever. Made decision to buy at 7:45 pm and left with the car around 9 pm.

Wow, that’s an excellent deal; probably best I’ve seen here.

Today I started visiting each local Honda delarship’s website and the best price I received via internet is $28,816 on a Toruing 1.5t (MSRP: $34,816).

Good luck. I normally ask for a price breakdown and ensure they always provide the following info:
    • Doc fees
    • Whether the sale price includes any incentives, such as military and/or recent grad (none of which I qualify for)
    • Finance incentives
    • Other fees such as title, license and registration
If this dealer is not being forthcoming or they do not want to play ball, move onto the next one.

  • Hey guys,

I am at $24950 for Accord EX 1.5T. Not really sure how good the price is even though it's not a bad price. 6 months back I got a $24400 quote from the same dealer but I m not sure if they will agree to it again.

What do you guys think? @brian125

@john4546 How did you make out with the Accord manual / Highlander debate ?
  • john4546john4546 Member Posts: 54
jerseydevil01 . I lost my argument with the mrs. My 06 Sienna not only needs 1500 in ft end repairs, brakes , rotors all around. Now i found out i have a bad transmission. Another $2300 for a rebuilt one . Wife & Highlander Win. I get to drive my wife's sport model . she will get a Highlander . Know any good Toyota dealerships in NJ ? I can buy this month or hold out a few months . I want a slam dunk deal that puts my accord purchase to shame . My wife said she will leave the color up to me . Then said grey or blue is all i like. Don't mess this up! WTF. lol.

\@AcademyAwardOscar ____ maybe tomorrow honda will put out a 1000 cash incentives on LX, EX, EXL models. When i was looking for a Auto sport , and last month a manuel sport, pricing was between 1000 to 2ooo below my models invoice. you need to get lucky in that a good dealerships has the one you want . I ran across some very bad , dishonest dealers that had my model .

@gdauti Garden State honda was one of the dealership recommend that i dealt with . Garden State was a honest dealership i dealt with back in May when i was buying my sport model. I asked for xzy price . they came back with this is our bottom line price this month, cant go any lower. Gotta respect a dealership who is up front like that. no games played , No add on's pushed on me .

Did u read a few posts up from yours. There is someone whom posted they got 7k off msrp and 4k below invoice in Chicago. I'd be all over that if its true . Is a price that low possible ? That Accord deal was Probably missing the 2 back doors . lol

I seriously doubt that deal for $7k off MSRP for a brand new Accord.

My Touring 2.0t had an MSRP of $38,689 due to accessories and my sell price was $31,644. Now my savings of $7,045 is really only $5046 if you don't count accessories. So depending on how you look at it, 7k is possible.

The person that posted stated there was no additional accessories included in the deal. The sale price of 27655 stated with the discount of 7000 would be 34655... very close to the touring 1.5 price of 34690. Thats why this deal is questionable

The actual MSRP does not change even if they added several thousand dollars of overpriced accessories. So, in my opinion, 7k off msrp is not possible in the real world. Enjoy your car...

It was possible to get 7K off MSRP with the 1.5K flex cash (car have to be financed through American Honda Fin @ 1.9-2.9%) being offered for certain trims. I got another out the door quote which was very close to 7K. The others were at 6.0 to 6.5K off. I am not sure where incentives will be for September so that ship might have sailed. I was looking only at the 1.5T Touring which was the trim with the most supply in my area so that definitely impacted dealers willingness to be aggressive.

Hi all, I'm looking to buy an Accord Sport 1.5T FWD in the Phoenix area. The average "dealer price" I can find is $24,720. What is a realistic price OTD I can expect to talk my way into? All help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

technically there was 1000 incentive on that trim so more like 6000 off msrp. Still a very aggressive deal and perhaps a unicorn deal, perhaps not.

@ChrisB35,..... you want to be in the $1500 to 2k below invoice price range. AZ pricing is not as good as some other states. Your Sport models Invoice is $24,483 including the destination ($895 ) ....excluding taxes, doc fee & dmv fee's which round out your OTD pricing . Get more dealerships involved with pricing. Make your best deal at the end of the month . Sept 4th ended old incentive programs . Tomorrow Honda will either end / continue or expand Incentive program .

Try these dealers in addition to yours. both CRV & Accord vehicles............ Chicago area

Valley, motor werks , Napletons river oaks, Lisle & Joliet superstore, Brilliance , Continental, McGrath, maybe..... Bill Kay , Muller , Honda on Grand ..

Closer to 2k below Invoice is where you want to end price wise. Unless Honda puts out Dealer Cash for the EX model your best deal may very well end up being $1500 below invoice price. So negotiate hard , be firm Tell each dealer I buy from you today for 2k below my models invoice price. Maybe you might need to come up a few dollars to seal deal..... LET this month play out to the end. You may do better .

As some have already stated, the MSRP of a car does not change. MSRP for this model is $36,695, from Honda's website. Using your numbers, we can deduce the cost of accessories added to your car is $,1994.
You did not state how much you were actually charged for all those accessories. Were they thrown in at no cost to you by the dealer? Did you get any finance incentives like Flex cash for financing through Honda?
I have been on this forum for more than 5 years, and I have been watching pricing for the Touring 2.0T for months now. I have never seen anywhere close to $4k below invoice for a new Touring 2.0T. The best pricing I have seen these past few months was close to $3k below invoice.

I would suggest uploading a copy of the sales contract here. It will help answer all these questions.

Blue, I used every tip and trick in the book from the advice given in this forum . 6 states over 100 dealerships contacted. How one gets 4k below invoice price on any accord seems bizarre when @100 plus honda dealers barley wanted to sell @1500 below invoice price

The only way that price is attainable even on the most expensive Accord, is either with incentives such as Flexcash ($1k), recent college grad ($500) or military ($500).
When I was shopping earlier this year, Honda Cars of Boston had quoted me $31,879 before any incentives. At the time (back in February), they had $1000 Flex cash that would have effectively dropped the sale price to $30,879. That is still about $2700 below invoice pricing. I might have been able to get an additional $300 if I was ready to buy for a total of $3k below invoice with Flex cash.
Waiting for OP to upload a copy of the contract.

My Touring 2.0t had an MSRP of $38,689 due to accessories and my sell price was $31,644. Now my savings of $7,045 is really only $5046 if you don't count accessories. So depending on how you look at it, 7k is possible.

    True MSRP 36690
    Accessories 1999
    Sell price 31644
    No charge for accessories
    No incentives (flex,college,military, or otherwise)
    +tax,doc,dmv

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I go with an invoice price of $33,618 given the MSRP, you are only at $1,974 below invoice and not $4k.

So, as of now, the best quote I’ve gotten is $6,150 off MSRP on a 1.5t Touring.  Supposedly, Garden State Honda can beat “ANY COMPETITORS PRICE QUOTE ON AN IN STOCK NEW VEHICLE AND WE WILL BEAT IT UP TO $500”

    So we’ll see about that.

I hope you have an itemized detailed quote that does not include the military or recent college grad disc if you are not qualified and does include the destination charge. Dealers can come up with all kinds of imaginary fees. Also I love the term "will beat UP TO" which could be one cent

@gdauti .............. Garden State Honda in NJ has a doc fee of $429 . Ouch! that $$ comes off your negotiate sale price when your signing the paperwork .... so beware & compensate that charge in your offer to buy .

Garden state Honda excludes the 895 destination charge & adds all incentives to there email generated pricing. In your case its $6150 off MSRP . (A $500 College & Military incentive are added to the $6150 price )

I suggest you field more offers these next 2 weeks, then once you have a better idea of pricing in your area going into the last week of this month Call the Internet Mgr directly at Garden state ( Ernest H. ) verify what I'm telling you. I suggest you get all the right price numbers 1st..... Tell Ernest you will be buying at the end of the month your waiting for pricing from a few more Honda dealers then you will decide. While on the phone ask him if he would consider lowering his offer cause DCH academy is already $300/ 400 lower then Garden state . Let Mgr. know you will be financing thru there dealership your credit score is ... xxx.

Reach out to keep in touch with @Jerseydevil01 & @john4546 they went thru many of the dealers you will be calling / emailing in NJ. Let this month play out it will give you the best chance to secure the lowest deal this month.

So what I’m doing is maintaing an excel spreadsheet of each quote Ive gathered thus far, and an estimated OTD as the last column on the spreadsheet.

The itemized items included and factored in my OTD estimate:  Sale Price, Doc fee ($399), NJ Sales Tax (6.625%), NJ DMV ($301), NJ Tire ($7.50).

I’ve confirmed with these dealers that destination is included in the quotes (have it in email for proof) and that I’m not eligible for Loyalty, Military, or College rebate.  And I’ve also relayed to them that I dont want or will not pay for any “add-ons.”

One last piece of information that I recently learned is, it turns out an old friend from college is a Sales Manager at Nanuet Honda.  He will end up being my final point of contact.  By that time, I should have a good understanding of how much of a discount I can get from the two finalists(Garden State Honda and Planet Honda).

One thing that I’ve also noted and that may benefit me.  On Cars.com, I did a search for New 2018 Honda Accord, and what I noticed is, the count of available(inventory) 1.5t Touring trim represents the largest percentage(23.2%) of Accords.  This is based off a 100 mile search radius from zip 07481. Though not sure how accurate and up to date Cars.com is.

I saw the same thing at my local Chicagoland dealer as well as other dealers in the area. Looks like Honda is noticing the same thing hence they are trimming down the number of available trim lines for 2019 and cutting the 1.5T Touring per reports that i have read. They will then use those resources to build more CRV's.

The over abundance of the 1.5 touring is probably figured into the extra 1000 incentive they offer and not sure if it is bieng figured into your pricing. Another detail that might help you is that the sales numbers this year for the accord are the worst in the last 4 years. I personally hope you do pull the trigger cause the touring 1.5 that I have is awesome to drive and the toys it has makes it a joy to drive http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-data/honda/honda-accord/

So is the CVT bearable, I have a 17 sport with the 2.4, it’s not the smoothest cvt to me. That’s why I’m skeptical about the new 1.5.

Hi Brian, I live in the Atlanta, GA area and looking to purchase a 2018 Honda Accord EX-L. Per your direction I will be targeting $2k below invoice. My question is when talking to the Dealership, should that $2k below invoice target include the Destination charge (which I believe is $890 in GA) or should I be a expect to add it to the target price. What would be a good target in GA for an EXL, including Destination. Thank you.

I was also skeptical of the CVT before my purchase and tested the 2.0 too. So far I have no complaints but to be honest I am not a very aggressive driver
