    Here is the quote i got via email

    2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L RES/NAV
    MSRP (includes dest) $40,805
    Sales Price $36,995
    Residual $22,442.75
    Money Factor 0.00060
    Money down due at signing $532.04

    $532.04 per month for 36 months 12k miles per year term

    I am trying to determine if this is a decent deal considering its a 2019 model and discount off MSRP seems to be about 9.2% if my math is correct...

    This is in TX where i think sales tax is charged upfront.

    Looking for some guidance to know if further negotiation is worthwhile... Seems like folks in other states are able to negotiate more like 13-15% off of MSRP on similar models even a few months ago (and now the 2019 stock is even older) but not sure how that translates across state lines ...

    any help would be greatly appreciated!

    TX taxes the full selling price and collects it upfront. But, of course, that amount can be rolled into your CAP cost. YOU don't have to pay it upfront.

    You should ask for the adjusted CAP cost. If you are only making the first payment at inception, then sales tax, acquisition fee, dealer fee and DMV fees will all have to be added to the sale price.

    Appears that those amounts total about $3200, to get that payment.

    I will certainly ask for the "Cap Cost" but am unclear about the rest of your comments... Is the "cap cost" not the $36,995 "selling price" ? are you saying the dealer is trying to hide those $3,200 you mention?

    I was clear when i asked the dealer for the quote that i only wanted pay the first month's payment at inception and anything else should be included in monthly lease payments...

    Also, overall is it a good deal or not really?

    The discount looks good. But, you need an itemization of those extra costs, to make sure aren't paying $500 extra for a glorified wax job, etc.

    I see. OK. thanks. I'm told the adjusted cap is $40,242.19 so seems your 3,200 number is pretty much spot on (40,242-36,995=3,247). That seems to be mostly sales tax on the 36,995 (3,052 @ 8.25%) so would seem no junk add-ons and this is a good deal... Does that sound right?

    I see. OK. thanks. I'm told the adjusted cap is $40,242.19 so seems your 3,200 number is pretty much spot on (40,242-36,995=3,247). That seems to be mostly sales tax on the 36,995 (3,052 @ 8.25%) so would seem no junk add-ons and this is a good deal... Does that sound right?
    I think the sales tax on a vehicle in TX is 6.25%
    The rest of it would be the $595 acquisition fee + dealer/DMV fees.

    I am pulling the trigger on this deal tomorrow. Low inventory of 2019's here in South east Michigan (at least for EX-L and above trims) didn't help with negotiations and they are moving fast.

    Hi, Thanks for all your help. I am getting a lease price of $335.17 with 6.5% tax included for EX-L.

    Another dealers told me that Honda is no longer financing for 2019, not sure if that is accurate. Is Honda finance still doing leasing on the 2019 for 36 month/12K?
