I purchased my RX350 at Kuni Lexus of Littleton (Colorado) on April 3, 2010. I got the 3.5L AWD V6 with Premium package but no navigation. Colorado dealers add a few extras such as tow packages, etc due to our altitude, so our price may be a bit different than other regions in the country. I went through the Costco Auto Buyer's Program. The sticker on the car was $43,858 and I got it for $40,550 which is $500 above invoice. I saw the invoice so I know it was accurate. If you are not a member of Costco, I would recommend you spend the $100 to join as you will save over $3000 off sticker just for being a Costco member. I then took a 5 minute Costco survey about the car buying process and Costco sent me a $50 gift card. Just a thought on a direction to explore if you're looking for a method to buy a new car.

I think you can do a lot better without going through Costco. I went through Costco three years ago and found that I negotiated a price that was about $1,500 less than the price that the dealer quoted me through Costco. I think Costco gets a kickback. And I am not sure the invoice they show you is really what the dealer is paying for the car. This time, when my lease was up, I negotiated a price that was 12 percent below MSRP. Also, usually the best time to get the best deal is at the end of the year or the end of a month, when they have to meet their quotas. If you wait until the new models come in, you can get a good deal on last years model, because they don't want them sitting on the lot.

I went through Costco to get pricing and it was $1500 under invoice... then I told the salesman that I had gone to overstock.com and gotten a certificate for 200 under invoice and he said... "no problem, bring the certificate in". If you're a AAA member, I also recommend call their buying service... typically great, helpful staff that do the work for you.

Purchased new 2010 RX-350 AWD on 4/10 (not lease, no trade-in, first Lexus).

    Packages / options:
factory installed: EC HS PM TO WU
port installed: 3T Z1 (including C1 GN WL)
    MSRP: $44,349
    Invoice: $39,859
    TMV: $41,167
my price: $38,359 (plus tax, registration and doc)

The primary source of Invoice and TMV were found in Edmunds. I estimated the rest myself that were missing in Edmunds, such as 3T, Z1 (C1 GN WL), roughly 0.8 x list_price for Invoice, and 0.86 x list_price for TMV.

My buying experience to share with you:
    1. BE AWARE! The invoice on a dealer's sheet is $500 over Edmunds'.
    2. The Costco Purchase Program price a participated dealer would show you is likely dealer's invoice + a few hundreds. You can certainly get better price than that.
    3. Find the model you like and write down the packages / options, and ask for the two-digit code for the packages / options so that you can match them at Edmunds later (In my case, I visited one Costco participated dealer, did the test drive and obtained the Costco Member price, then left). Check Edmunds with the exact equipment and get the TRUE INVOICE. Contact the dealership around you for quote. Use email only to deal with internet sales managers to get the best price. This way you have full control on the pace, do any necessary research and prepare well before reply to an email.
    4. It is buyer's market so don't hesitate to push the price below the true invoice (the invoice obtained in Edmunds, which is $500 lower than dealer's). Lexus dealer's holdback on this model is about $1,500 - $2,000, which means you can push the price about that much amount below the true invoice and dealer still won't lose money.
    5. Try to make the deal at the end of the month for more bargain power. Unfortunately, I missed 3/31 deadline (with $1,000 factory certificate), due to my wife's frequency of switching around models, and had to close the deal before her leased MERC E-350 expires.
    6. The financial manager's only hidden cost on the contract was $30 fee for license plate installation, which I asked him to remove. I later found in the trunk a sealed plate frame and two screws. I can certainly do it myself. He also tried to sell me extended warranty, but had no success. I can purchase it any time before the warranty expires with better price.

I knew I could do better than that but was already happy with the price. Another $500 saving was possible but it would have costed me more time and energy as the closer to dealer's 0-profit, the harder, so I chose to stop here, a win-win to both the dealer and me. The entire purchase process was no stress and enjoyable.

To help myself on the price, I created a quick sheet which might also be a little help to potential buyers in this forum: http://www.mathpi.com/RX-350.php. It's for RX-350 AWD only. You can click Premium or Navigation link, check any other options, then click Calculate button. The primary source were obtained from Edmunds. The regional adjustment applies to my area.

I wish new buyers do better than me. Stand on my shoulders and reach higher.

I find this site helpful, glad to read all the posts. Hoping I could get some feedback on this quote for a lease I just got quoted:

    36 month
    12,000mi / year
    $500.00 / month

This is with $5,000 down (trade). MSRP of SUV is a little over $43,000 (no nav but many other options). This is in NJ. Is $500 too much with that much down? It does include all fees, plates, and first month payment, etc. no more money at delivery.

    Thanks

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!..this is one of the best posts that I recently read here in Rdmunds...and thanks for the "work sheet" that you provide. One question, where are you loacated?......and enjoy the RX in the best of health..

Went to Prestige Lexus of Ramsey NJ . looking to lease RX 350. Want Prem, Nav. Dealer has cars all loaded with other options I don't really want- Comfort pkg, et al. Says I can't get car with only Nav and PP- that it would cost me more if I placed a custom order. Sounds like BS to me. Car I want has inv 40,304 (MSRP 44, 765.) The deal he offers is MSRP 47500+ - lease based on 44,000 (3500 discount). Wants 3600 up front with 565/mo- 36 mo. Sounds high to me, but what I most object to is the loading of options and offering a sl higher "discount". Anybody have similar experience with this or any other NJ dealer?
  • svofan2svofan2 Member Posts: 442
Prestige is a fairly good dealer, I ahve the feeling that most dealer get the RX 350 fairly loaded thus I think they can discount better than a so called "plain vanilla"..besides I believe that when one leases the advantage is for the dealer since they have all the number and they sure know how to play with them. Be patient and try others and compare laways comapre and let us know how well you do...good luck

Hi svofan2, I'm in northern California. To me, the location or which dealership is not a big factor. What matters is what bargain power we have and what bottom line the dealership possibly have.

    rx350awd,

I am looking for a vehicle similar to yours and I am looking in Sacramento/Bay Area. What dealer did you end up buying from?
  • svofan2svofan2 Member Posts: 442
...ok...so?....I am not disputing any of your statements,again!....but if those facts that you presented are true, and not a misunderstanding on your part as you previously stated, I maintain that you and the group are not getting such a good price.
Location matters because if you happened to have 2 or 3 dealers in a large area the competition is deminish to say the least. I will attempt to indicate price collusion among them...oh God forbid!!!!...
Look bottom line is that if you feel you are getting a good price and must important you are happy everything is meaningless.....enjoy your buying experiences and good luck.

Hi justaveragejoe, The sales person I closed the deal with is in foreign country for vocation this week. I thought I should do this with a little cautious as to get the person's consent first. Depending on how the dealer views it, it can be either a free ads promotion or profit-decreasing drive to the dealer. So wait for a week or so. With the fact that I got this price, I assume most dealers should be able to do the same.

There are a few other little things I forgot to mention in my first post.

    - Sell a new car is only the first step in dealership. They want your long term service dollars, which they can make far more profit than selling a new car. The dealership I closed the deal with tried every effort to make me commit my service with them in the future, by offering 15% off major service, pickup / dropoff at the door no matter how far I live away from it, VIP free-meal program, etc. So, I believe this may also turn into your bargain power, by promising to do service with them in trading for lower price.

    - Factory pays for the 1st month stocking fee, about $500. Dealer pays for the rest. If you are able to see the detailed printout of a particular car, pay attention on the "invoice date" (or the "port arrival date", or the similar). If the date is older than one month, you are in a better position for price negotiation as the dealer wants to get rid of it as quickly as possible.

    rx350awd,
I understand how you feel and please don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable. I am getting some prices under invoice now and I have a feeling that I have contacted the dealer that you used. Let me know if your salesperson returns from vacation.

Could you share with us the dealer name and location and the quoted prices (below invoice) ? Most of the dealers I have won't match the prices of $38359.
  • justaveragejoejustaveragejoe Member Posts: 268
I am dealing with Pleasanton, Concord, Roseville, Sacramento, and Modesto. I haven't received a written quote at that price. One said he is $500 below invoice, but checking the KBB and Edmunds, he is still $90 over. A couple others said the they would work with me but aren't giving me a written quote that low.
  • fxoffroadfxoffroad Member Posts: 67
You're quibbling over 90 bucks? Wow.
  • cubraincubrain Member Posts: 11
    Hi Everyone,

Can I get some opinions on a FWD RX350 with these options. The dealership want $39,995 + TTL:

    Premium Package
    Backup Monitor/camera
    19" Aluminum Alloy Wheels
    Heated and Ventilated Front Seats
    Intuitive Parking Assist
    Tow Prep Package
    Wood & Leather-trimmed Steering Wheel & Shift

I'm in the Dallas so opinion from someone in the Dallas area would be a bonus.

    Thanks.

No, I am quibbling over 600 bucks. If the Costco price was 1500 under invoice in my area, I would have taken the deal. It was several hundred dollars over invoice for the RX. Some other Lexus models were under invoice, though.

I got a great deal on an RX 350 2010 lease at New Port Lexus in Southern California.

If you can buy and/or lease at the end of the month.

Oh... gotcha... have you tried overstock.com - they provide a "certificate" with a lowest price (typically @ or under invoice)... Also AAA has a buying service that usually cuts the BS. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the information. do you recall the money factor they used at the dealer to calculate the lease?
    Which dealer?

I live in the Delaware area and looking for a price for 2010 RX AWD with the following options
    CP for comfort package
    EK 12 speaker audio
    NV navigation
    PA premium package
    TO tow prep package
    WU wood and leather wheel

    Sticker is $47,893
What is a fair price to pay for the vehicle

I think you mean PM premium package. You should get some quotes from dealers in your area through Edmunds, Coscto, USAA, etc. A fair price maybe $44k, a good price maybe $42k, a great price maybe $41k.
It all depends on the dealers in your area, your patience, and your research and knowledge of market conditions for that vehicle.
    :)

I battled this question for 6 months as I worked with a number of dealers on purchasing the same exact model that you described. Bottom-line is that we paid $43,500 and the MSRP was $48,500. We absolutely love the car so whether we pay a few hundred dollars more or less it is truly worth it.

I had prices from as low as $43,188 to as high at $45,800. If we can get it between 42K-43K then I would go for it. I don't know if 41K is really doable but as the post mentioned talk to multiple dealers. And some maybe more aggressive than others. Good luck.

The best I've been able to find so far in Northern Jersey is $3500 off MSRP. The MSRP on the vehicles they have is approx 47,800. I'm trying to get a lease figure as well (36 mo, 10K mi, fees and 1st mo lease only up front.) The dealers seem reluctant to provide money factor, residual... Any have this info?
  • justaveragejoejustaveragejoe Member Posts: 268
I have three dealers willing to go $5k below MSRP but for vehicles without NAV. No leasing info, though.

I too am looking to buy/lease an RX 350 as well and looked at dealers in DE/MD/PA. Did you buy yet? I currently have an RX that I will trade which I bought from Lexus of Chester Springs, PA but willing to go where best deal is again this time.

I'm looking to lease/buy a 2010 RX 350 AWD and want rear seat entertainment for my daughter (since I have it now and will trade my current RX 350 in). Lexus dealers are telling me in order to get this I have to get a model fully loaded with Nav, etc. so sticker will be in excess of $50k. Is this accurate??? I'm trying to use posts on here as comparisons but none have rear-seat dvd so hard to try to find comparisons...
    Any advice???

    Hi justaveragejoe and sebho,

I finally got hold on the sales person I closed the deal with, who had two weeks vocation and is just back to work today.

I posted the contact info here earlier but it was deleted by the moderator as person's name and phone number are not allowed to list in the forum. You can email me at rx350awd at hotmail dot com for the contact info.

Good luck on your puchase on BLACK FRIDAY!

if it also comes with cargo net, cargo mat and wheel lock, you should be able to get between 38,250 - 38,985 in Sewell Dallas. I would think there is a good chance that you can close the deal at 38,500+TTL.

Could I have some feedback on if this is a good deal for a 2010 loaded RX 350
The MSRP is 47,884, sale price is 43,500, MF .0022 with a residual of 24,420
What is the current money factor lexus finance is offering on this car? I'm outside of Philly, PA
