Hi - new to this forum and the leasing world. I currently have an offer for a 2019 F-Pace 25t Premium with a few packages (Navigation, Cold Weather, Comfort, Drive, 19' rims, etc...). MSRP is $57,100. 36 months, 12,000 miles per year. After some negotiating, they are offering it to me at $5,000 down (taxes, fees, and first month's payment), and $559 per month. Located in New Jersey. What do you think?
In NJ, we'd recommend you only pay the first payment and registration costs at signing, which is way less than $5000. Anything above those items is at risk for loss if the vehicle is stolen or totaled.
Rate my deal: 2019 2.0t F-Pace Premium Demo, 4k miles, Silver on Black $47k MSRP, $28,601 RV = $2500 DAS (includes all fees), 36/12...$512 per month (taxes in monthly)

Didn't you state the MSRP as $47,000?
Without the correct numbers, there isn't much feedback we can give you.
Thanks for the reply. He's telling me that they mark up the MF for finance reserves, otherwise the finance manager doesn't get paid. He further says he can do it at .00001 but then he wouldn't be able to discount the car as much, and the payment would end up the same.
Does this sound fishy? It seems like a good selling price for the car, and the monthly seems in line with other deals I've seen for 30t Prestige models.

Not fishy; actually pretty honest.
Up to you to decide to roll with it, or fight for both the base MF and the big discount.
You'll have to run the numbers both ways, to see what works out best for you.
In the end, it's about who gets paid - markup to MF pays the fiannce manager, smaller discount from sticker puts more money into the salesman's pocket.
Your job is to make a deal that you're comfortable with.

So the profit from a marked up MF actually goes to the finance manager working on the deal? My salesperson had said that on a previous lease and I thought he was just saying that to bring a human factor into why the MF is marked up. I always thought any markup on MF would just be going into the pockets of the big financials services arms of the car brand, and no one we ever deal with would actually get the benefit. What’s the truth?

It really is of no concern to the buyer why the money factor is marked up, or who gets it. You are correct in your analysis of why it was brought up to you. It is rude for a salesperson to mention compensation, but many think of it as a sales tool.
But, the bottom line is: Money factor markups result in increased revenue to the dealer. What incentive would they have to mark it up, if it went to the bank?

Thanks. On a similar topic, how much does a salesperson make on a sale? And is it a percentage of the negotiated price (which naturally presents a conflict of interest) or a flat commission (I’ve been told many times it’s $200-ish per car).

Not even going to go down that rat hole. There are an infinite number of comp plans available for the dealer pricipal to choose from. Could be one, or the other, or a combination of both.
Again, why does it matter to you how, and how much, someone makes?
You need to make the best deal you are comfortable with, and not worry about comp or margin or what it takes to keep the lights on. Do you worry about those things when you shop the local grocery store?
