I feel like the pricing and lack of standard equipment on their highest volume products, the Macan and Cayenne, are more problematic for consumers than the high MF. The residuals aren't terrible, and similarly priced vehicles from other brands can also come with high MFs...Audi Q8...

Will result in a much, much larger payment.

And, we don't recommend money down on a lease - you'd lose it if the car were stolen or totaled.

Correction: PORSCHES are not cars you should typically consider leasing. Go in with your own cash or financing at around 2% and just buy the car rather than get reamed by ridiculous fees. Or you can do what I did a few years ago...

I walked in to the dealership and negotiated a great price on a brand new 911 and told them I was going to want to lease, playing really dumb about how leases work. That way they were much more flexible on the price of the car, knowing that they could make it up by screwing me on the MF. So we negotiated the price of the car and the residual was reasonable so I got a really good price to start with. When it was time to fill out the paperwork I told them that I had decided to put down a down payment of almost the entire 36 months worth of depreciation & taxes - basically nothing would be financed. So essentially I BOUGHT 3 years worth of Porsche use and was able to return the car as a leased vehicle without getting killed by interest and without paying tax on the entire price of the vehicle. This method works great if you have the cash sitting around and don't mind paying it all up front. Give it a shot!

One small problem with that scenario - if the car is unluckily stolen or totaled during that 36 month term, you lose that up front cash.
