    Calculations are correct.

The Honda-to-dealer incentive is just $600, so a $3700 discount looks pretty good (depending on dealer fee.. how much is that?)

I'd be happy with that deal on a $23K MSRP vehicle.

Well im sure they are factoring in dealer holdbacks, incentives and other things in that discount. The dealer fees is only around $800 (549 doc fee + 229 dealer options

    Hey, guys.

I've leased twice before (you probably recall my numerous posts...) and I do know how the formula works, etc.

But I have the Sales Manager at the largest volume Honda dealer in the state advertising on their website a $187.00/month lease on a 2019 Civic LX sedan in the base trim level.

The Sales Manager is assuring me that this advertised rate is for top-tier credit (.00089) and he is assuring me that the Money Factor and the $595.00 acquisition fee is *already* rolled in to that advertised rate of $187.00/mo.

The only required addition to that $187.00/mo is the sales tax (which would be $10.47/month).

    It's a $0 Money Down/$0 Security Deposit lease for 36 months, 12K/year.

He's not volunteering the MSRP, he's not volunteering the purchase price (though I haven't requested these numbers, either).

I know this approach goes against everything we're educated about with regard to leasing, but this seems like very good deal, no?

    $197.47/month?

($219.00 doc fee, title and plates due at signing.)

Incidentally, this is the same dealer where I got my $167.95/month lease in October of 2015, with only the $595.00 AF rolled into the financing--although that lease was obtained via negotiation of the purchase price, and using the formula, etc.

Your thoughts? Should I press for purchase price and MSRP, etc.?

I always thought advertised rates--on TV or on a website--never included Money Factor, and certainly never included things like Acquisition Fee, etc...

    Yeah, 35 payments of $197.47...

    $21,280 MSRP
$17,304.38 Purchase Price ("Agreed upon value of the vehicle")
    +$595.00 Acquisition Fee
    $17,899.38 Adjusted Capitalized Cost
    $12,129.60 RV
    $5,769.78 "Depreciation"
    $160.27 monthly base payment
    $26.73 MF (.00089)
    $187.00
$10.47 WI State sales tax (5.6%)
    $197.47 Total Monthly Payment

There's some snag with the whole $0 Money Down thing--some "trick".

For my last lease, I refused that arrangement--I insisted on paying the first payment the day the lease commenced, which lowered my monthly payment--but today I just let go and went with it.

There must be some advantage to the dealer and to Honda Financial Services--they must be making extra money off me in some way. Because they can't have been so magnanimous as to have paid that first payment for me...

Today I paid only the $219.00 Doc fee, and the $89.00 required to transfer my license plates.

And ahead of me, 35 payments of $197.47--not 36 payments.

    I must be missing something...

I'm generally a real stickler for numbers (as you've probably gleaned), but today I sorta went against the whole "Do not be dazzled by the advertised monthly payment!" axiom, and I basically just signed on the bottom line.

Because no other Honda dealers in the area were offering anywhere near a $197.47 "all-in" monthly payment on a 2019 Honda Civic LX CVT sedan in the base trim. All other area Honda dealers were going no lower than mid $220s for such a lease.

Incidentally, the dealer today had no interest in negotiating.

"This is our best lease deal."

And for the times, I think I may have gotten a solid deal.

In 2019, with the cost of money what it is, a lease payment with no money down that is under $200.00 per month.

    Looks cheap

It is a great deal. You are over-thinking it.
    Thanks, Papa!

Yeah, it's a great deal. I wanted to be under $200--I waited 12 months for this--and I got it.

And you experts on this Edmunds forum have been instrumental, as always.

Incidentally, for anyone interested, the dealer is Wilde Honda in Waukesha, WI--the highest volume Honda dealer in the state. But the deal is available to residents of Wisconsin, only.

Here's the blurb on their website:

    $187 per month

"New 2019 Honda Civic LX Sedan, AT. 36 month/36,000 mile lease from AHFS. Offers include all applicable incentives. No down payment, first payment or security deposit. $595 acquisition fee included in payment. GAP protection, excess wear and tear included. Tax, title, license and $219 dealer service fee extra. Offers apply to well-qualified buyers and require approved credit. Not all buyers will qualify. Offers not valid on previous purchase or price quotes. In stock only. Wisconsin residents only. Dealer not responsible for typos or omissions. Offers end 9/30/19."

Thanks, again! See you in 36 months!

Good thing you got a big discount to offset that doc fee. $789? Shewwwww..

You are in a Region B state, which hurts (higher money factor).

With just first payment due at signing, it's $246/mo.
Even taking into account the doc fee and the $1200 Honda-to-dealer incentive, it is a decent deal.

    GREAT number! BIG CONGRATULATIONS!

Yeah... as I posted above to you @lesseefair , your deal in 2015 was even better than the one I had.

Heck, found elsewhere for the September program:

"Those looking to lease the 2019 Civic can get another $600 to $1,600 in cash incentives, depending on the trim and body style. The highest incentives are on LX..."

Seems like you got a BIG advantage in that state, with that dealer. on that day!

Gonna' be very difficult to match that one.

See you again in three years. Will probably be here as well :)
