Can anyone think of why a dealer wouldn't want to lease a 2019 model?

They've given me a heavy discount but don't want to lease it at that price, kinda strange.

The dealer gets different incentives from VW on lease vs. purchase. If you negotiate a purchase price, then tell them you want to lease, the price is likely to change.

I asked about leasing it at that point and said it was only good for purchase.
How would I go about getting a similar price on a lease? I'm just not entirely sure what to say at this point.
