I plan on leasing a 2020 MDX to take advantage of the $3900 lease cash to dealers. I’ll pay off the lease within 3 months. Would there be any disadvantage in trading in my 2016 MDX (owned, not leased) in order to reduce the taxes paid on the amount owed for the new vehicle?

Depends on where you live; not every state grants trade in credits when you lease.

If they have not been previously titled, then they are eligible for the new car program.

If they have been sold / titled, then the new car program will not apply.

You'll get the loyalty as a customer incentive.

The $3250 is a dealer incentive, and will be reflected in whatever price the dealer offers you.

If you're happy with the discount from sticker (knowing that there is $3900 of dealer incentive included within it), then there isn't anything wrong with it.
