Update on my quest to lease a 2020 MDX SH AWD Tech in Chicago (36/12) $52,925 MSRP

After test driving the MDX at a local dealership in the Chicago area, I negotiated primarily by text (speaking with them by phone quickly became unbearable). The online rep and I finally reached an agreed sale price "with all discounts included" of $39,100 (about 26% off MSRP) which they will "honor" if I come to the dealership. They would not share any more numbers unless I went to the dealership.

I went in. I was expecting the high money factor of .00215 built into the deal for them to make it work even though I specifically specified the $3,4000 incentive. However, these guys completely disregarded the price I negotiated with the online sales rep and offered a whole new deal: 9k off the MSRP (which included the $3,400 incentive) plus an additional $1,500 (have one Acura already).

It's amazing how these dealerships fail to recognize and offer a bit more respect to the informed consumer.

The struggle is real.

That's a really cheap lease. You should grab it. At that price, it wouldn't make any sense to buy the vehicle.

If the bank buys for $44100 and resale at the end of lease at 53% residual of MSRP won’t it be a good buy as well?

If the bank buys for $44100 and resale at the end of lease at 53% residual of MSRP won’t it be a good buy as well?

I don't think you'll get that price on a purchase.

That’s kind of what I thought too. The way they explained it to me was the $60,775 was what was on the sticker. Then with destination/delivery, added options it came to something close to $63,569. Then they gave me $1500 loyalty/conquest cash because I’m a Lexus owner. For a vehicle value of $55,462.13 saying they gave me like $8000 off. So I asked for another $2500 off and I would take it because I needed payment close to $625 a month. They wouldn’t budge.

Incentives are Acura to dealer, so will be part of any discount you receive.
So, you won't see the incentives in your deal, they'll hopefully result in a lower negotiated selling price

UPDATE (Chicago Area):

I pulled the trigger yesterday (2/22) after reaching a remotely negotiated selling price I was happy with Saturday (2/20). After one bait and switch with another dealership, this dealership honored the agreed on price without any shenanigans.

My goal was to lease (36/12) but was unable to reach my target selling price of under $40,000 (with incentives) --- the best lease selling price I was able to get was $41,228.

I ended purchasing the vehicle for $43,983.48 OTD. To me, this was a price I could not walk away from. To get this deal I had to finance with Acura Financial Services at a 4.9 APR, but there's no early payoff penalty. The deal included loyalty ($1,500) and a military discount ($750) applied to the bottom number. This worked out to a selling price of $38,878.

Had great experiences with all but one Acura dealerships.

Arriving at the above would be much more difficult -- if not impossible -- without this forum, its administrators and participants.

Either of those deals are good. I'd go with the $425 / $425 offer. Minimize the upfront cash, since the MF is so low.

Thanks for all the help! I ended up with 0 down ($400 first payment down) and ~$400 a month on a base awd mdx 36/10 at the end of December.

I didn’t really care about that since I planned to purchase and it ended up at about $33k plus taxes and tags. There was no prepayment penalty and I only paid the interest on the first payment in addition to the adjusted cap cost.
