While I have an Outback, I'm a big fan of the CX-5, especially in the Touring trim.

Hah! Well, one more then. Glad to know I'm on the right track. First time looking in this direction after a few Hondas. Fortunately they have a ton of CX-5s on the local lot, unlike the Outback base trim.

Good & bad news is that .00001 and 55% are precisely what my salesperson is quoting me, but we're at around $350 for Sport and $400 for Touring. About $50 more than I'd like to go for either. Selling price is my only chip here, and they're meeting the Edmunds projection.

If you're looking at a $300/mo payment, you might consider the Nissan Rogue. I think someone just posted a $303/mo deal for an SV trim level this week.

I'm under $400/mo, even assuming a 9.5% tax rate.

Ask them for a copy of the lease worksheet, and try to find out the adjusted cap cost they are using for their quote.

MF may also be marked up.

This is exactly the deal I had in MA but with 872 down and payment is 346 with tax (6.25%)

You owe tax on the entire selling price in TX - you either pay it up front, or you add it to the selling price and spread it out over the lease term.

Using the prices given, I calculate a payment of $355/mo, so I'll guess the dealer quote includes the taxes and fees.

Ask them for the adjusted cap cost - with taxes and fees added in - and I suspect we'll get closer to the dealer quote.

Be advised that the dealer can mark up the MF as much as .00050, but it doesn't seem like they've done that in your case.

You'll need to see, and share with us, the lease worksheet from the dealer, else we'd just be guessing.

The MF and the adjusted cap are the only two variables in a lease calculation.

OK - to followup on this - traded texts with the dealer. Need to provide some additional info - I'm in a current lease with Mazda Credit via Chase (2017 CX-5 Grand Touring top of line). It is a 33mon/12k that ends on 8/10/2020. I got if from the dealer I am working with now. Mazda and the dealer asked me to come in and discuss what do do next. Now they want to include the current lease as a trade-in in the lease deal. With that and the taxes included in the car it brings the monthly payment to $490.

I am shopping around other Mazda dealers in the area for their deals. Question - can I return the current lease to any mazda dealer?

and do I have to wait until the end of the lease period (less than 60 days - 8/10/20) to turn in the lease? My contract says I owe $300 turn-in fee if giving back.
